I was so grief stricken and in tears..all of my friends that were their circled me and hugged me and told me they loved me. I know Panics death struck everyone hard but those were the most emotional 3 nites ever. You truly understand Genesis when you experience pain so deep you can't put it into words. Forever and ever will I carry Mikeys memory with me. There was never and will never be another like him. Requiem aeternum, Mikey and to my old man Thumbs

These were supposed to by Mikey's final shows and it was in large part a farewell for the band and all of the fans. I never have been able to understand how they got through many of these songs. The entire atmosphere was one of pure love and family. There was even the most amazing thunderstorm during cortez. This series of shows was written in the stars and an experience like it will never be had again. I'm so grateful to have been there.
Yes Daniel. The emotions coming off the crowd and the way the Boys were playing just created a feeling I havent experienced since then. Its a memory I am so thankful that I have.

Had the pleasure to be at this show.. This wasn't the last time I saw Mikey because I saw them later that year at 'Roo 2002, however, Oak Mountain shows always seem to have some sort of spark within the band that makes magic happen. My ex-girlfriend and myself agreed that if we were ever to get married, this version or the version from Carbondale in 2000 would be the song danced to after the ceremony. This is definitely one of my top 5 shows.. Don't Be Denied encore the night before was amazing
The last time I ever saw Widespread with Mikey and the only time my girlfriend (who is now my wife) got to see them. Amazing weekend. I will never forget it.

Carbondale, of all freakin places, as a single night run, was and is held as a gold standard show.. I was blessed to have caught so many shows in 2000. All were great. Some phenomenal but I missed Carbondale. Just a week.or so after it, the buzz among the Spread community was so electric. Up to then I didn't recall hearing so much great feedback about a single night show. Mind you, it was on a Friday. But Dec 1?? In the asscrack of Illinois?? From listening to my soundboard copy and 2nd hand accounts, the sound was dialed in to perfection on the first note. Mr Bell's voice was at pitch and tempo that we only see after he has had his brown frown, couple of smokes and once they have gone thru a large chunk of the 1st set. It was just one of those xtra special nites, where you just had to have been there. I wasn't. Opener: Let's Get Down to Business By God, they weren't lying.or holding back.

Widespread was always a good way to work out grief. It's almost like they feel it with us .
