Always a fan of her rom-coms with her apartments being a large reason. To me, they were the silent stars of the movie, as with any beloved set. Growing up on these movies, this WAS New York, in my mind's eye, it still is. 2025 New York can't come close. Set design and dressing to me would be a better job than actor or director. Many thanks! As for future tours, I'm still hoping for the 2 houses from Dark Shadows.

Having not seen this movie yet, I probably shouldn’t comment, but I’m going to anyway. If anything, your video serves as motivation to watch the movie.
“Imitation of Life.” Got it on my first guess! I love what you said about the use of steps in set design. I always guessed that it was a way to create distance as the character moves from back to front.
My favorite item on the first floor is that Isamu Noguchi-inspired coffee table.
I dunno how you managed to replicate that gold leaf wallpaper in the powder room, but I’m impressed! That type of wallpaper was popular for several decades in the middle 20th.
Wonderful job with the kitchen and dining room. I love how you kept them simple and small. Very plausible. The addition of the drink cart in the nook was very appropriate too!
The curved wall that splits the place up is soooooo wonderful. The charm and character it gives the place is captivating, and I love the more intimate feel it gives as a conversation space. Anyway, enough of my ignorant comment. Now to go rent the movie! See ya later! 😅

I see that you have already done a video about the Parent Trap house, which I will watch next because that has always been a dream house to me. I was much more interested in that ranch than the plot as a little girl watching that movie! You may not be the XF fangirl that I am, but for 30 years Mulder's apartment was a source of much conversation and some humor--because of his quest, a LOT of people were murdered in his building--several in his apartment or right outside the door. We never saw his bedroom in the first 6 seasons--we only saw him sleep on his leather couch. We finally saw his bedroom was stuffed with junk, newspapers, books, etc. It's eventually cleaned out and fans finally got the scene we had been praying for--Mulder and Scully having obviously spent the night together in said bedroom.

This apartment was so cool - never saw the movie but that red curved wall invited me here and the whole look was very masculine chic 👍🏻👍🏻
EDIT: I know it was in the movie but that kitchen divider I didn’t much care for. It just felt like it didn’t fit and thosce screens have always felt bohemian (to me). I think it would’ve looked interesting with maybe one of those glass block walls - the ambient lighting from something like that would have been exquisite

@pjesf I agree about the folding screen. It also didn't leave much room to get by. I'm wondering if they decided that they didn't need any scenes in the kitchen, so they realized they wouldn't need to build out a kitchen. Then maybe a last minute idea was to just place a folding screen there to block the view of a non-existent kitchen?
