      I love your videos. I like the information and details. I like the map and pictures. That helps give an idea of what is the areas looking like for the lions where they live. I learned something new. I did not know that the two older Nakhumas were daughters of the Matimbas. I had thought that the last Matimba daughter was gone from Sabi Sands besides Gingerella. I did not know how many lionesses left with the plain camp male lions.

    I remember when I had first heard of the S8 male lion, and when he was or would be giving Dark man and his sons a hard time. I have to say I really like the S8 male lion knowing he is trying and not giving up even in the presence of 2 male lions. I remember that I read a comment that the S8 male is the most impressive male in Sabi Sands I wonder if he meant his size and strength, but I am happy he is trying to get his sub adults to adulthood and helping the lone Selatie daughter. Knowing him more really shows his strength like the Selatie daughter.

    S8 is a warrior , he is getting a lot of pressure but gaining experience. Mohawk went out and brought his son's back with him , very smart king. The black dams have moved in but are not really in control. They just think they are . They still aren't really in control their just there.

    • @janas.6507
      @janas.6507 Год назад +1

      True, they are great warriors but when it comes to take over they don't impress lionesses (who mate with all dominant males around them for protection,clever girls).💞🦁

    • @auntiez4917
      @auntiez4917 Год назад +1

      Black Dams are just not very aggressive which is one reason why Mohawk has been able to wait it out until his sons get big and strong. Mohawk’s 4 sons are almost as big as he is now. They really grew over the summer (winter for them). Now it may be hard to nearly impossible for the Black Dams to kick out Mohawk and his sons. Black Dams may have waited too long to make their move. The Nkuhuma lionesses may still choose the Black Dams when they go back into estrus…and they should. But the Black Dams may have made a crucial mistake in allowing the Nkuhuma 4 subs to get big and strong in their territory. Fun times ahead!

    The magnificent one of founders of the Talamati pride., Queen T - I think she left daughter at this age because she prefers her familiar territories than Landozi., to live out her life where she feels at home. Also., I think that all six kids from Nkahuma 2021 litter are alive along with their moms pale eye., Tattered Eye and Ridgenose daughter. There are videos where there are 13 of them without Chella and Mohawk and you can clearly still see their sizes versus mims and the boys from 2019 litter.

    • @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743
      @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743  Год назад

      From the 2021 litters I could only identify four subadults 3F/1M over the last 3 Months , that remain in the pride.
      From what I researched, the 3 subadult males that were split and roaming with Chela for some time at the beginning of this year, re-united with the core pride in March.
      Shortly after two of the boys were seen again with Chela and the 4 young males. Last week of march one of them disappeared and the other returned to the core pride.
      According to my notes this boy was seen last on April 16.

      No one was there when S8 got the injuries. It had been concluded by some rangers (e.g. Deon Wessels and others from WE) that S8 was in a fight with RRM.

    • @genekruithoff5795
      @genekruithoff5795 Год назад +2

      No it was red road . Red road was seen again 5days ago in the talamti camp . Then S8 was seen with more injuries.but they are cousins . Red road must be getting pressured also . I don't think this pressure is from the black dams . If they were to join together the black dams would be in for trouble .both S8and red road are big seasoned warriors.

    • @genekruithoff5795
      @genekruithoff5795 Год назад +2

      After the fight with red road , S8was in pain lying near a kill. He then went to feeding on the kill. Red road was lying behind him just watching him. Red road didn't attack him again. He let his cousin feed . Now red road is in the talamti camp . S8seen with more injuries.but S8 was patrolling and calling his pride . It's a tough process but they may end up joining together. Why I say that is this ...red road could have killed S8 but didn't . Now they fought again and didn't try to kill each other . This is two lone kings , these fights must take place if they intend to join up. I think red road is there to defect the black dams.

      The Talamati Queen has plenty of options to be with her family and not live out her days alone. Lions can live up to 20 years; so I think she can live much longer than 6 more months if she wants. She will have better odds for a longer life if she finds her 4 young daughters OR finds the Talamati breakaways with her 1 daughter/niece and 5 cubs. She could be extremely helpful to the Talamati breakaways since they only have 1 adult lioness. Queen T can still hunt and help provide and raise those cubs.

    Okay, thanks for the numbers on the Nkuhuma cub-subs. So, needed females and a single male. Down to 4, there were 7 for a long time, but Mala Mala said it was originally 8. This is to be expected, of course, with all the deaths and movements since they were born. I didn't think the Nkuhuma and Nkuhuma breakaway cub-subs were quite this old already. The older they get, the better! Good hunting age, and the females closer to when they will be "safe" from unrelated males. Probably the young Nkuhuma males with Mohawk are a deterrent to the Black Dams in settling down as pride males here, but when/if the young males take off .... The Birmingham-Nkuhuma lionesses will want to mate again, as well as the two NAvoca daughters. The Black Dams will probably be waiting for them. Have to check into Chela and her new cubs.

    I only wish you showed video at 1:37 in slow motion without cutting the part when the dominant BD male started a chase after s8’s kid. If you watch WE video (aug 16 sunrise) carefully you will see that dominant BD run straight and the to the right in the bush but then roars were herd., look and you will see through the bush the BD running in opposite direction and away from of the roars and then you see the S8 comes in roaring attentive and right past the younger BD male. Next scene Cedric drives to the road but Cedric is confused he now say it is Nkahumas then he say the lion roaring on the road is BD leo but it was not. Look closely that is S8 looking where BD went. He not only saved his son’s life unhesitatingly coming roaring and chasing the BD but then made sure his kids are safe then came back twice and by this time BD’s regrouped and s8 took off but not until giving it a roar. I was soo impressed with the S8 that unhesitatingly stepping in and protecting the pride. To this day noone is correcting this fact. Title is BD chase s8 but it was s8 who acared and chased the dominant BD first. He is phenomenal leo and dad! The video is there and it is clear. Don’t listen to Cedric., he was confused who is who throughout (and I like Cedric).

    I had a question. Does anybody know of the relationship between the Red Road male lion and the S8 male lion? I had a comment in another video that they are cousins.

      I have no idea, in which pride the S8 male had been born into and which coalition had sired him. Without these infos it's difficult to make a link.

      One female cub died from a severe injury she suffered in a buffalo hunt gone wrong. Her mother was also injured in that incident, but she recovered.
      The two male cubs sadly just disappeared, no explanation offered.

      Up until a week ago., i could clearly count 5 Nkahuma kidz from 2021 litter and there are videos from this summer where I was able to count all six. There is djuma cam video from Aug where six can be counted… I will try to find it and come back and cite it so that more pairs of eyes can help with counting. They can still be distinguished because of the size but they are all almost tall as moms so it is getting harder. So unless the two boys disappeared super recently

      So (1) watch WE June 30 2023 night video of Nkahuma strolling ine by one first on one then other side of the dam. Mohwak is not there but neither is Chela and there are 13 leos. Watch their comparative sizes and you will see six who are less tall than adult lionesses and 3 who are slightly less taller than 3 boys (especially on when they walk on the other side of the dam) (2) video nights time is sept 7 2023. 3 older male subs plus Mohawk is on one side of them. One older sub, 3 BB sired adult lionesses and six adolescents (chela is not there) and there are 14 total.

    Where did you learn/see info that S8 fought Red Road?

    • @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743
      @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743  Год назад +2

      Actually no-one had witnessed the fight, some rangers (e.g. Deon Wessels) assumed it was the RRM. He said something to the affect it was like between the Mapogo and the Matimba, no-one was there but it was concluded it must have been them.
      RRM had also been seen after the fact with scratches over his face but nothing serious.

    • @luvmyaussie9561

      So just a speculation especially since s8 injury seems more as a hunting injury and RED has healed scratches from beating Mandevu and not fresh scratches which I saw confirmed elsewhere

    • @luvmyaussie9561
      @luvmyaussie9561 Год назад +1

      @kimberlylopez9402: s8 had one large wound right above the right eye and two horizontal paw scratches left side of the face. Hunting injury or squabble over a carcass is what it looks like to me. I saw no bite marks on the leg and know he was walking just fine in real time footages on WE not compilation videos. Also if he had bite mark on the leg., than it would be even less likely it came from the fight with only one lion - so again rules out RED. So yes., I see these as speculation and it does blow my mind how elaborate they get in comments although humans are attracted to drama and it gets views., but once I see channels that use those tactics and even put together footages from different videos from different times (such as the ones that had RED limping) - not this channel though.., I don’t give them credit and find them misinformative.
