  • On Oct 21, 2023 the Talamati Queen, the oldest lioness of Sabi Sand, found her final resting place.
This video shines a light on her long life and also that of her Sister Silver Eye, who passed away in September 2022.
This video goes into the history of the Talamati pride, who had been formed as a Nkuhuma breakaway group when the Matimba males took over in 2011/2012.
Talamati Queen and Silver Eye were born into the Nkuhuma Pride in early-mid 2007 and had survived
the attacks of the Mapogo. They returned to Sabi Sand in 2009 as subadults and eventually broke away with one of the older lionesses in late 2011, to mate with the Matimba males.
While I incorporate wildlife footage sourced from various providers, the essence of my work lies in transforming this content into something unique, detailed and informative. Queen T and Silver Eye lived longer than most lionesses. They were amazing lionesses. Nana was also over 10 years old when she passed away. Matchless Queens who survived against all odds!!!

What a beautiful tribute 💕 It’s done with such care, empathy & sensibility. It's hard to contain emotions learning more about lions, their society, dynamics & their brutal existence. But it’s not the savagery of nature that these wildlife and their survival are endangered. It’s human’s egregious & barbaric actions that have jeopardized other species’ lives, their environment & nature. Humans are the most self-serving & dangerous predators. What does it take for us to reckon that our existence is nothing without theirs? All species, all lives are interdependent & interconnected.
Bow down to these 2 magnificent queens for their beauty, intelligence & courage to be the Teflon ties that bind their pride & legacy ❤️
It’s “A Tao for the Anthropocene.”

I have to say for me whenever any wild animal gets shot for trying to roam in to places which ultimately humans don't own no matter how much we try telling ourselves we do is a complete tragedy!!!! Also this was an amazing video to watch and I can't thank you enough for putting it together ❤❤❤❤

Amazing video as usual, we really talk about the difficult life of male lion but lionness have too tragic story to tell. I'm sad pratically no dominate male of the talamati pride live longer to ensure the safety of their heirs like Dark mane(The fitst gijima really😔). TQueen and Sliver eyes were legends and their name and struggle are now part of the talamti pride forever. Hope soon the 4 young queen became mother and ensure the survival of this wonderful pride just like their predecesor.
    RIP QUEENS❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hum the 2 talamati sons were back together right now ? Because few days ago, the older male was see alone calling for his brother and he seen to be lost😰

Thanks for the comment. It appears that the Talamati YM have re-united.
I've seen a pic of them resting together in Ukumbe, I just need to get confirmation if the pic was taken after Nov 14, when they got chased by the Ndzengha.

I have to mention that the smaller talamati male (b.2019) that some people unofficially call 'khanya' is the son of Queen talamati (injured tail) and the grandson of Blondie and Dozie.

Oh and about Sizanani, after his brother died he teamed up with Scorro forming the Thanda Impi coalition. They ruled Nharu, Mbiri, and Redroad prides, which means that the Tumbela male(s), Mandevu, Ncila, Lambile, and Redroad are all possible grandsons of Blondie and Dozie

And the Othawa young lionesses are granddaughters of Blondie/Dozie. The blood of the Mapogo ( maternal great-grandfathers) and theirs have united in the 2 youngsters

Four months after this video was made the 4 young females are well established in their new territory in southern Sabi Sands, they recently gave birth to new cubs sired by the young Gigima males and their future looks bright, they were given the name "Msuthu" and the name Talamati was kept by the three remaining members in the north who for now are doing well!
