- In the floating garbage patch, an exposure event would take place causing a mako Shark to take on extremely significant adaptations. As it shifted from salt water to freshwater, it would end up in the Paris Catacombs and snaking on the French people. A quick oogling on Google shows some shark species do have the ability for parthenogenesis, but the MAKO isn't one of them.
But they wanted the mako look for the movie
The second they say giant mutated Mako, I think they just wanted to reuse Deep Blue Sea assets instead of making their own
This movie definitely took some Q's from deep blue sea which uses Mako's. Plus Mako's are the coolest

So got a theory about the homeless folk. That one guy did get snagged, probably saw something in the water and got close to the water to investigate.
The others ran away cause their bud just got got. Didn't report it cause they didn't want to sound crazy saying "a shark ate our friend"
They were being displaced. Homeless camps aren’t actually permitted, and in the movie they mention that they were cleaning up the Seine for a swimming event, which means removing the homeless so the press doesn’t see them. I would say he dropped the book he was gifted and tried to retrieve it
thus making them one of the smartest people in this movie

The homeless men were standing at the edge of the water, relieving themselves when a shark jumped out of the water, sharknado style, and grabbed one of them. The other man, being drunk, fell in when hit by the shark’s fin. Any other homeless men would have ran down to the water’s edge to see what the commotion was about thus putting themselves in range to be the appetizer.

To the guy that has an issue with the metric vs. imperial jokes, Roanoak has previously made note of the fact there are two types of country those that use the metric system and those that used the metric system to go to the moon. He is very aware of the hipocracy.

Before being cleaned the river is likely quite polluted, so rip hypothetical sharks...

Something about that micro plastics study was that they determined that they probably had major cross contaminated the samples from the start. There was another study done that did show that some people have micro plastics in their bodies in multiple places and such but they found that it was highly varied and that a major factor involved with this was if they had any kind of surgical procedure and if they had gotten any stitches internally.
actually theres a species of freshwater shark in japan and bullsharks can live in both salt and freshwater wich is concerning given that bullsharks are the most common shark in shark attack cases.

They also aren't "interested" in just any blood. If it's land dwelling, we have less oil so they understand to some extent there's an injury but because it isn't their main food source, unless they are already actively hunting they hardly care. Fish blood however... yea don't swim in that. They'll bite anything inside that oily fish cloud

Shark climbed out of the water and axe murdered those poor homeless dudes. Then it ate the axe, ate the dudes, got back in the water, and escaped. What a criminal mastermind.
17:59 It's explainable, One homeless man was at the edge washing a shirt or something, and the shark yanked the shirt pulling the dude in, and the second got yanked in trying to help/find out what happened to the first guy, maybe fishing for the first guy with his hands. That way, neither had to take off their clothes, and didn't have to go night swimming for no reason in the freezing cold. The steep slope of the wall also means the shark could easily lunge like a crocodile and still be able to wiggle back in if both came down to the edge far enough to dunk their hands into the water.
My biggest fear of living by the great lakes are bullsharks, They are bigger than most states, How do we know there aren't bull sharks deep in lake ontario.
Because it's to cold. Now a Salmon Shark or Great White or a Geeenland i can see if lake salty enough.
The really ugly fish is probably a silure, it's a kind of big catfish that can be dangerous for some species but are usually just very ugly and can eat dogs. French people typically know them and know they're the biggest fishes in France, so seing one being eaten is an obvious sign of something being very wrong, as they're on top of the food chain
I feel like this movie demonized the sharks and the eco group in the movie was anthropomorphizing them, it could not decide if it was serious or a creature feature. But then again I’m not it’s target audience, and from what I’ve heard from people who reviewed and seen in this recap, people found it to be quite humorous because of all the stupid decisions that are made.
I havent watched this movie, but from this… well, roanoke isnt making these vids as a movie review but it does end up like that sometimes😅.. so anyways, from this movie “review”, it definitely feels like the moviemakers were trying satirize smthing.

actually shooting into the water would be unlikely to set off mortar shells. High velocity 5.56 struggles in water completely collapsing and losing energy about 3 feet in. but a slower round such as a 45 or 9 would have much more energy still at such depths

I like swimming out to the third sandbar in Galveston to fish. You have sharks swimming around you all the time. I always leave my caught fish on a floating string line just in case the sharks feel snacky. They get close enough for you to reach out and touch them. It really cool. All fun and games till a shark take a bite I suppose.
Eh most animals are lasy bastards, so they probably wont go for a still living prey if there is perfectly good, fresh and already caught fish close by

Bullets do not penetrate water well at all. Smaller, slower rounds tend to max out at absolute maximum of 12' in depth. .50 BMG basically shatters on impact with water. That bugged me to watch.

I can pinpoint the exact moment my fear of water happened. I was swimming in a lake which used to be for logging and some of those logs, apparently, we're still hanging out just below the surface in places you wouldn't expect them to be.
I swam way out in the open between two points while doing a back stroke and felt something rough touch my back and calf so I stopped, righted myself and turned around to see a dead mossy log poking out of the black depths.
Went from being someone who you could never take out of the water to still being deathly afraid of it almost 30 years later.
I'm always surprised when you, someone that became a virologist to learn about the enemy, hate marine biologists because they study another one of your enemies

I saw another video on it and was like “yeah, parthenogenesis is a thing but it has a low success rate for the young from what I’ve heard “ I was looking forward to a far more educated opinion on it and it was very cool to learn more about the mechanism of fish being fresh vs salt vs brackish water environments.
