    I had a childhood friend that couldn't swim. He was perfectly comfortable frolicking in shallow bodies of water, such as creeks and above ground pools, he could hold his breathe and submerge, just fine, but was absolutely incapable of swimming. We went fishing on one of the lakes, in a jon boat, and he fell in. When he hit the water he flailed his arms like a madman. When we got him back on the boat he said that not being able to touch bottom is what scared him and caused him to panic and reach for anything he could find.

      It's also hard to apply force while underwater so "just cut the rope" isn't as simple as 1-2-3 like he implies.
      That's why you can't just "break the window" if your car falls into water.
      You would need to use a sawing motion to cut through the rope and even then, it's gonna take time.

Even so, it's not hard to be consistent in your own story or simply rewatch your movie before writing the script for the next one. As far as I'm concerned, the DA's being able to drown takes a whole point out of 10. The reason why the survivors at the doc have blood shot eyes is because they are infected by a Death Angel. I saw an early screening of A Quiet Place 2 a few months before it released theatrically and there was a scene that was cut in the final product. The scene showed one of the survivors pull up their sleeves to attack Emet and the camera focuses on a slash wound on the survivors arm. Emet notices it too and gulps. Apparently, the Death Angels have some sort of venom or toxin in their claws that when it enters the blood stream, it turns the person crazed. I can see why the editors left that scene out of the film because zombies in the quiet place universe doesn’t really sound good. (Pls don’t fire me Paramount)

    My theory is this.
    They have some understanding of water and know how to traverse shallow water in the stealthy matter we see. However, if they don't know that they are jumping into water, the sudden sound all around them disorients them. We see that a river or waterfall is enough to allow a person to yell totally unheard. Now imagine that noise jamming effect all around them. They then flail around with no sound to guide them except the further splashing made by their movements. Then they end up drowning because they have no way to maintain their orientation with the surface.

Also,the Aros/Death Angel that showed to swim in Part 1 was using the floor and Evelyn was able to slowly and quietly walk to her baby,so the Death Angel used the floor to NAVY Seal it's way in suspense. So the Other Death Angels need surface or something to grip on and since they had nothing to grip on in the ocean,it would explain why they weren't able to swim.

    Theory: The death angels did not naturally evolve to their current form. They were genetically engineered by a sentient species and sent out into the galaxy. They were meant to devastate a planet by wiping out the native species, thus making it easier to claim when their creators arrived. Since such large amounts of surface water is rare, the creators didn't take it into account, leaving them with the inability to swim.

      Late reply, but there's no evidence to the contrary as far as I recall. Say the military did, there's a continental outbreak of them and the amount of military bases with the supplies to be able to output that sort of reaction would likely be somewhat low. By low, I'm referring to the amount of installations with that capability, vs total military installations. Another thing to look at, is there would likely be significant military casualties, leading to more localized military presence. Why would the military move to reinforce some rural town, over a military base with defensive capabilities, able to house and defend important principals? It may be far fetched, but there are some reasons why a military presence isn't in either movie, however late after the initial landings.

    I always saw the Death Angels success in almost wiping out all sound producing life on Earth as just how fast these things can go, I mean for creatures that big they sure can move quite quickly, pretty much Cheetah speed or possibly faster; I see it as not so much the military couldn't kill them but more so they didn't have the time too kill them, by the time they realized what's happening those aliens were already at their doorstep.

      @tommyfox854 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@jimmyelkordy3752 You do have a point jimmy, you do have a good point.
      I think it's more on the line of the 2,000 death angels hypothesis considering how many death angels we see in a roughly small town/area in the two films; heck it might even be closer too 5,000 per meteor considering the sheer size of the fireball we see in the second movie (Yes I'm aware it could've been closer too the town than we think; but considering that we never hear that thing hit the ground nor the huge gust of wind that should've been made when it did. . either that thing had more holes in it than a sewer grate or it was just REDICULASLY far away. In either case, that meteor was huge, and considering the size of the death angels there's no doubt that each one had thousands, if not tens of thousands, of those things inside each one.), so those things knocking humanity back on its ass is not lookin so unlikely in my opinion.
      Though the idea that there's just 20 of those things for either both American continents or 20 per continent is just flat out stupid, the fastest human eye and reaction time wouldn't even register those things moving several MILLION miles per hour. . I get that they're alien so our understanding of nature and so on won't be all that effective/useful. . . but there has to be some kind of limit on how fast a land dwelling creature can go in the limited fixed laws of the universe before we're looking at some kind of extra-universal or quantum entity. The fact that we can actually track these things with our eyes and reaction time means that there's no way less than a small neighborhood's worth of hyper aggressive aliens can take out that many people so fast. Hell we literally see one of those alien slowly walking through town, listening for any noise making thing to potentially kill, that wouldn't be happening if those buggers can movie several times the speed of sound (ironically enough).

    • @goomba25
      @goomba25 6 месяцев назад +5

      I think the not enough time issue could work if you change it to "can't kill them fast enough." Say their armor is resistant up to 0.50 cal, and even that takes a few seconds to stop them. The military certainly has enough of those weapons and more, but now there's logistics. Regular rifles are useless. How many people do you have trained who are skilled at using a heavy MG, or a rocket launcher, or a tank? How are you going to supply them with "bullets, bandages and beans" when things are flying off the shelves like early covid? Finally, where do you send them when everyone far away from the aliens is going to want to keep their troops at home?
      Even if a tank can take out one with a single shot, the aliens can just group rush it, crash into it and maybe disrupt electronics, and rip off everything on the outside like sights and maybe the engine. And without logistics or orders, a tank has maybe 40 shots to use on what it can directly see, and it can only run over things while there's gas in the tank. Aliens can't get in, but the tank is mission killed.

    It could be that their sensory organs are sensative to high salt content, so something like sea water could cause disorienting confusion that prevents the creature from swimming in salty water, but since fresh water does not generally contain excess irritants, this does not iritate the creature's sensory organs. So they could move through fresh water, but can't move through salt water. It could also be the depth of the water that could contribute to it as well.

    Sound proof rooms are not air tight, they are floated. Meaning there’s a room inside a room separated by air. There’s even two doors to get in. It basically works by breaking up this transfer of sound. Air to wall, wall to air, air to second wall, second wall into outside air.

    Regarding the dark colored and extremely tough chitinous exoskeletons, there's a few logical explanations based around a couple of ideas that people tend to overlook.
    The scarier possibility is that, yes, the creatures are fast, powerful and extremely deadly, but that doesn't mean that they're the *apex* predators in their native planet. There could very well be some other equally terrifying creature that hunts these ones and these features are evolutionary responses to their predators.
    The more likely scenario is that in the event that they are native to a "porous" planet full of cavernous systems, there's a chance that their prey *can* see even if the Death Angels cannot. Being dark and rock-like would mean that they're more likely to be ambush predators. Tarantulas are like this as their eyesight is rather poor; they hunt by detecting subtle vibrations caused by insects wandering around their burrows.

    • @fourclawrider
      @fourclawrider 7 месяцев назад +2

      Exactly. I found a comment on another video where somebody argued how it was laughably unrealistic how fast he acted and, according to him, in real life people would stand around and check things out before they react.
      Most movies would probably depict the character stumbling backwards a few paces, falling backwards on their ass and then looking dumbfounded for a few seconds before finally slowly starting to panic, clumsily get up and run away.
      That's movie theatrics, not real life. In real life a car gets knocked over and people flung around right in front of your eyes out of nowhere, you turn and run for at least a few dozen meters before maybe turning around and assessing the situation to see whether the danger has subsided or you need to keep running.
      In real life your survival instincts and adrenaline system wouldn't let you just stand there calmly to rationally deduce "Oh! This situation is dangerous, I better run". The way the movie did it was excellent and way more realistic than most other movies would have done it.

      @@fourclawrider yes and in all likihood anyone else who knew to run would follow him blindly for better or worse. Its rare people run a safe distance then collect themselves. They just book it as yiu said your fear kicks in. We all have heard a car back fire or a semi hit a curb and shake the area and we THINK thats a gunshot or small earth quake and because we take the time investigate and arent panicked, we think that would apply to the real deal. • @MegaPlayerXxX

    I honestly think that while they might be dificult to kill, I doubt armies would have too great problem with them. Sure, normal handheld weapons might not be enough to penetrate the shell, but we have much greater weapons than that. Tanks, transporters with autocannons, jetfighters and helicopters, all equpiied with guns that can shred panzer. Nowadays we also have drones and autonomous weapon systems. We could lanch a swarm of drones that could just seek Death Angels and shoot them from above.
    Also, given how strong their hearing is, our world would be an absolute hell for them. Eveything makes sound, our civilization is built around noisy machines, loud music and more. Since they do not eat humans, I think they actually figured we are too noisy and want to get rid of us becuase our presence hurts them. Kinda like how dogs are scared during thunderstorm, so would they hate loud sounds of our world. Imagine hearing everything 1000 times stronger, as if you constantly had concert speakers right by your ears. I think that is why they still hunt humans and anything that makes sound. Also why they stay away from waterfalls. These are pretty loud.
    But also given that, defending agaisnt them should be rather easy. Scream on top of your lungs, make a sonic blast, turn all speakers to full. It would create so much noise it would be like flashbang to them. Instead of getting closer to destroy the source, I think they would try and get away from it as far as possible.

    One of the big problems I had from the very outset of the first movie was the plot hinged upon these things having super duper invulnerable armor. So strong was this armor that the military couldn't defeat them. The HESH round was specifically designed for impenetrable armor. It would work wonders at pulping all of that squishy inside bits of those things. I suspect shortly following the proven efficacy of those tank shells against these things, small arms versions would be churned out.

    To me, it make sense that the Death Angel doesn't know how to swim. The flooded bunker in the first movie the water was pretty shallow so they were more accurately crawling along the floor of the bunker and looking at their design, they don't even look like they're able to swim due to them not having any webbed appendage and if they were able to swim it would be very difficult due to well, not having any webbed appendages.

  • @johnsmithfakename8422

    This is something that always bothered me about the "death angels."
    Bullets work by concentrating energy. Bullets are a mass going at supersonic velocities, and when a small projectile is going fast it can act weird.
    My train of thought comes from how difficult it is to make body armor that can stop rifle rounds. In my opinion the death angels probably have innate 3 or 3A body armor. This would mean that a .50 BMG would be very effective against them, a .308 would really hurt (and possibly cause death through internal hemorrhaging or trauma), shotgun slugs would really hurt (and possibly cause death through internal hemorrhaging or trauma). Smaller and lighter rounds unless going over 3300 FPS might at worst bounce off their carapace, and at best punch through.
    There is a limiting actor that seems to be omitted, and that is weight. A plate of metal armor that can stop a bullet, and cover the chest, is surprisingly heavy (I think 10 pounds for one plate). A creature of that size with metal based armor that can stop a rifle round, in theory should weight around a ton.
