Looks like they may be doing one on H.H. Holmes. DiCaprio owns the rights to the book adaptation of the true crime book "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. IMDB has an 'in development' page on it.
Michael Mann's best film, 1986's Manhunter. It's been in my all-time top 10 since it came out, and it's proof positive that you can make an intelligent genre film that manages to be both super-stylish, and intensely meticulous as well. Probably one of the first films to take a serious view of criminal profiling, and behavioural science.
wasnt really a movie about a serial killer, it just followed a bunch of random assholes during the summer that Those killings were taking place, oh and it would pan to them every now and then...it's more a story of mass hysteria during a crisis than anything.
As a character study, there's seriously no better serial killer film than Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer. Even researchers agree. As a flick, Zodiac definitely is the best. Personally, I would go with Henry(the character study) as number 1. Michael Rooker gave a really Oscar worthy performance that should have been nominated if not won at the Oscars.
@Philip Garcia ...i can understand why so many people hate clowns...but alot of people can get two things mixed up....as far as Gacy and other fucked up people in clown masks or clown makeup doing unforgivable things and then there's an actual FEAR of clowns as in movies....example IT,pennywise...... but that aside...there were genuine people out there who actually wanted to entertain kids and family and made a living at it who can't do it anymore because of all the conspiracies about clowns... and if thats all u knew and had a family to provide for its harsh as hell.... book my own thoughts about clowns are that because of all the master his that has happened it's a job now people can't do without being profiled as dangerous.... very harsh but reality
my mom told me, that i slept as a kid in a room full of those creepy jingling mannequin clowns and the thought of that still haunts me today... i hate it when on halloween everyone dresses up as a clown .-. i have huge coulrophobia
Citizen X, Evilenko, Green River Killer, Summer of Sam, Cold Light of Day, Manson Girls, Case of The Hillside Stranglers and so on. All pretty damn good - and theres many more, too. Dont think zodiac deserves number 1 spot but its well made and keeps you watching.
Good list, but I don't think I would've included Helter Skelter (although that was a great movie), because by definition he's not really a serial killer. Zodiac and Snowtown are great movies, but here are some honorable mentions (in no particular order): "M", Bundy, Gacy, Ed Gein, Changeling, Frozen Ground, Officer and a Murderer, Karla, Cruising, Citizen X, Tony, Evilenko, Manhunt: The Search for the Yorkshire Ripper, Appropriate Adult, See No Evil: The Moors Murders, The Hillside Strangler, The Gray Man, The Hunt for the BTK Killer, Freeway Killer, The Capture of the Green River Killer, Ann Rule Presents: The Stranger Beside Me, Hunt for the I-5 Killer, The Case of the Hillside Stranglers, A Is for Acid, Speck, Confessions Of A Serial Killer...
Five daughters was an amazing mini series about a series of prostitute murders in England. The story follows a community of prostitutes, their families, and the Police investigating the crimes. It focuses on the links between drug addiction and prostitution, and people’s reactions to the murders and the victims. The capture of the killer is almost an afterthought, identified through DNA evidence, he is arrested, but barely seen on screen. It’s a very thought provoking series, and for a short time gave a boost in funding for drug rehabilitation centres all over the U.K.
I agree with several previous commenters, CITIZEN X should be on this list. The performances of Jeffrey DeMunn as Soviet serial killer Andrei Chikatilo & Stephen Rea as the forensic expert that tracks him down are just phenomenal. This is another one that, while it has some moments of gore, is much more interested in the investigation than the murders themselves.

The killer is over 55 now so most likely dead or not in the right health to stage the murders like before
Bradley Stopher dna proved it was aaron they threw him in a psych ward and didn’t tell the public to avoid a race riot that was the latest findings to my understanding
When I saw the tittle I thought ted bundy straight up
Hay people i wanna say that in my opinion " WOLF CREEK 2 " is the best movie about serial killers from Australia i don't know why there's no one talk about this great movie I've ever seen
I Agree! You totally have to watch the tv show series too if you haven't already ~
@@chereka1234567 finally someone i find someone who know what is wolf creek
@@chereka1234567 i watched 2 series of season 1 but i'll watch the rest of season soon
Here are some actors i would like to see playing serial killers in thriller films:
-Kevin Hart
-Steve Carrell
-Arsenio Hall
-Daniel Radcliffe
-Chris Evans
-Ben Stiller
-Owen Wilson
-Joseph Gordon Levitt
-Ashton Kutcher
-Shawn Wayans
-Chris Hemsworth
-Martin Lawrence
-Amy Adams
That's a horrible list lmfaooo.....
@@ingriddel3861 that's because i would like to see them in different roles to their usual ones.
Ooooooo...Thor would be an amazing killer...dude if he ever played one wow
Owen Wilson does play a serial killer the movie called The minus man.
Kevin hart doesn’t have the range
Snowtown was a great one.
I thought so too.. When they kill the brother for raping him, that bothered the hell out of me
I would like to see it.
UGH. Gotta buy it.
Dear Mr Gacy is a brilliant one too
DanielDupernex Hi , can you give me your opinon about my channel
Albert Fish was the worst.
and he never had a movie based on him....yet.....same with HH Holmes
gabrielgray j don’t think they ever would do a film on fish or Holmes. It’s to gruesome even for Hollywood
I wouldnt say that, There are some pretty Gruesome movies out there, A Serbian Film/ Hostile trilogy... are two very good examples.
Looks like they may be doing one on H.H. Holmes. DiCaprio owns the rights to the book adaptation of the true crime book "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. IMDB has an 'in development' page on it.
gabrielgray There actually is a movie on Albert Fish, I think. It’s called The Gray Man. Please correct me if I’m wrong, though.
Zodiac Underrated Film! It's a Masterpiece.
Citizen X should be in here.
It was kind a lame movie, cus chikatillo had an incredible killer back-story, but the movie was mehh
What kind of crack are you on?? Citizen X is a Fantastic movie.
John Badger
Citicen x doesn't show the real shit. Was kinda lame ,even the director said it in an interview
John Badger I totally agree
CITIZEN X , ATLANTA CHILD MURDERS , RIVERMAN THEGREENRIVER KILLER WERE ALL GOOD SERIAL KILLER TV MOVIES .''
MrJason916 thank u someone else who mention the green River killer
Citizen X was a great movie
wasnt really a movie about a serial killer, it just followed a bunch of random assholes during the summer that Those killings were taking place, oh and it would pan to them every now and then...it's more a story of mass hysteria during a crisis than anything.
MrJason916 I liked this comment for your profile pic.
Helter Skelter was so good!!! Mr. Railsback nailed his portrayal of Charlie.
"Citizen X" should be on the list for sure.
who else hate clowns? 👍🏻
If someone came to my door, not little kids, on Halloween dressed as a clown I would not answer it.
Me
Beats City as a child I was terrified of clowns, not so much anymore though. Although some clowns are still creepy.
my mom told me, that i slept as a kid in a room full of those creepy jingling mannequin clowns and the thought of that still haunts me today...
i hate it when on halloween everyone dresses up as a clown .-. i have huge coulrophobia
YOU PUT JEFFREY AT TEN!!!!!
red headed psycho that movie is straight ass
watch "my friend Dahmer "
going to
red headed psycho did you like it???
@@Jessicahannah9 loved it
Did he say Amy Wuornos? It's Aileen...And I loveeeeeee that movie!
I think he was pronouncing it 'Ayleen,' but 'Eileen' is the correct way.
Still sounds like he said Amy to me. And Aileen is the correct way.
I meant the pronunciation of 'Aileen' is like the name 'Eileen.'
Ohhh okay!
6:25 I’m like 80% sure the killers real name wasn’t “Place it here”
Citizen X, Evilenko, Green River Killer, Summer of Sam, Cold Light of Day, Manson Girls, Case of The Hillside Stranglers and so on.
Great list
Five daughters was an amazing mini series about a series of prostitute murders in England. The story follows a community of prostitutes, their families, and the Police investigating the crimes. It focuses on the links between drug addiction and prostitution, and people’s reactions to the murders and the victims. The capture of the killer is almost an afterthought, identified through DNA evidence, he is arrested, but barely seen on screen. It’s a very thought provoking series, and for a short time gave a boost in funding for drug rehabilitation centres all over the U.K.
Movie name: “Helter Skelter
Me a Beatles fan: hOl uP-
That’s where he got it from
OMBeatlessssssss!!!!!!!!!!
༼ つ ◕‿◕ ༽つ
I used to think Charles Manson was apart of the beatles
Interesting how Mark Harmon acted as Ted Bundy in the 80s and now he's on the show NCIS fighting crime.
Shows how flexible and talented an actor he is!
Good to see Snowtown getting some recognition. Such a hard hitting film.
Dan Cole
Fantastic cast and a incredible movie along with a look behind the iron curtain.
How is My Friend Dahmer not on this list I watched it, it was very well made and the acting was phenomenal
It was great, but technically it focused on his life before he was a serial killer.
1:09 "he is a psychopath"
me: ... but Dahmer was labeled as "sane" when he got tested
I mean psychopaths aren't insane, they just lack emotions
where can i watch the deliberate stranger? Please someone reply
i highly recommend To Catch a killer and the deliberate stranger if you haven`t seen them.
i came here because of John Wayne Gacy.
i search "Worst Serial Killer" at the first place, and then i found arcticle about him, i read it from his childhood until death
I LOVEDDDD Jeremy Renner in Dahmer. I saw it when it first came out and knew he would eventually become a big star after I saw it and was so happy to see him start doing more and bigger roles a few years after. Great movie! I always felt some odd sense of compassion for Jeffrey Dahmer and it was nice to see Renner play him that way.
Boston strangler is such a cinema masterpiece !
Tony Curtis is absolutely brilliant in the Boston strangler.
1) Dahmer
2) the Boston strangler
3) helter skelter
4) to catch a killer (gacy)
5) the deliberate stranger (bundy)
6) 10 rillington place (John Christie)
7) snowtown (very disturbing)
8) Henry: portrait of a serial killer
9) monster
10) zodiac
Le Boucher
Spiral staircase
What's really frightening, isnt the serial killers that we know of, it's all of the serial killers we will never know of, who are out there.
The fbi estimates 1,000+ serial killers are active in the states 😐
There’s like 4 movies/documentaries on Ted bundy
Rooker did a great job as Merle on the walking dead too
People tend to have tragic pasts, but it can't excuse serial killers' evil actions nor can it help them escape the consequences that result from them.
I remember it was February or March of 2007 and I was going to take a friend to see "The Departed" for the third time since it was still in theatres... Luckily, I saw a preview for Zodiac, got a good feeling, and saw that with my friend instead. I was so happy I made that choice. What a great flick.
