    Good video and overall a great resource...My only quibble on this video is that joining the points for a cumulative frequency graph with a curve implies that the members of each class are not evenly spread which we have to assume for the model..Straight lines are better for the use of linear interpolation within the classes..Doesn't in reality make much difference at this level but hey ho..

      for median, u use the equation (n+1)/2 to find position of median. n is the number of items in the list
      for example:
      1, 4, 6, 7, 8
      there are 5 items in that list
      (5+1)/2 = 3
      6 is the median because its the 3rd number in the list

    U do need to put numbers when comparing box plots

    • @TheGCSEMathsTutor
      @TheGCSEMathsTutor  2 года назад

      Thankfully you don’t!
      According to mark schemes in relation to this type of question, both marks are awarded for:
      “A correct comparison of medians eg the median weight for Megan was greater than the median weight for Amy
      C1 a correct comparison of a measure of spread eg the interquartile range of weights for Megan was greater than the interquartile range of weights for Amy
      For the award of both marks at least one of the comparisons must be in the context of the question”
      There are no mention of figures needed, and never has been (and I speak as a past exam marker and moderator)
      The only mention of figures is in the sub notes that mentions if figures are given then “Figures must be correct” so my advice is always to leave them as it’s just an opportunity to lose marks.
      If you’d like to see the latest mark scheme as evidence of this, then please see question 11(b) for November 2019 paper 2 😁🙏🏼

    • @TheGCSEMathsTutor
      @TheGCSEMathsTutor  2 года назад +2

      If you get the numbers perfect that’s fine!
      If you get a number slightly wrong but give a perfect comparison, then you would lose a mark.
      I guess you have to ask the question, is it worth it?
      Reward: gain nothing
      Risk: lose a mark
      Of course, I would always advise that you should follow your teachers lead 😁🙏🏼
