I'll never forget that Deion interception and dancing all the way to the endzone. One of my most vivid football memories still to this day. I forgot that we were fighting for 1st place in the NFC West that game. What a season 94 was!
@@grinningchicken I believe Deion has admitted that he was ring chasing at the time. So he signed a 1 year deal with the niners and then Jerry dropped the bag the next year and he was gone.
The 1994 49ers were like a superteam. Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young. The greatest Wide Receiver of all time Jerry Rice. The greatest cornerback of all time Deion Sanders.
Also one of only two teams to have both the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. The other is the 1986 Giants who had Lawrence Taylor win both awards.
The only thing I don't like about Sanders was the fact that the 49ers didn't keep him beyond the one season he was there. He, for sure, is the greatest CB I've ever seen.
@@cbod14 I mean the 94 49ers team point differential was absurd also. I'm not saying they better than 89 or 84 team but all three of those 49ers teams got absurd point differential. The 94 49ers average like 43 point per game in the playoffs.
Deion doing his thing out there, I love it! Also, the Falcons never should have ditched that Logo and those uniforms. Much, MUCH better than what they have now.
They shoulda just did a modern version of the original red & whites w the current logo & made the black ones the alternates w the throwback logo. An this is coming from a falcons fan
To put some perspective on how well Deion's coverage was: in the first 6 games of 94, Rison had 44 catches for 573 yards and 6 TD's On this day, he had 32 yards
SUPERB. Thanks boss for the spotlight. Any 80's or 90's game you do from this era, and I'll definitely be in my box seat. Especially a 49ers game. Didn't think you'd do this one, so this is a wonderful surprise for my weekend. Deion had his best year as a pro, and really helped the squad get past Dallas. In Atlanta, the game was basically over when the 2nd quarter started hee haw. Loved how stacked we were then. Cheers mate :D
I’m an Atlanta native. I was 15 at the time. I still have that game on VHS, somewhere. Leading up to that game, I was SO hyped. The Falcons got their assess whipped, of course. We knew that, but it was all about Deion Sanders returning to The Georgia Dome vs. his old team. The fight between him and Andre Rison was one thing. The pick-six with him looking at the Falcons sideline all the way to the end zone was epic and savage at the same time.
The 49ers said that this game & The Lions game the previous week was when the 94 team began to settle themselves. The defense got used to each other & the offensive line recovered from early injuries.
11 year old me watching this game from Jersey. Die hard Falcons fan. The man who made me a Falcons fan from jersey. Thus hurt my core to see him go to the hated rival 49ers and do what he did to us lol. Loved that him and Rison got into it. 90s sports was king
Deion Sanders was and is the absolute essence of NIL, name, image, and likeness. It's why so many athletes are opting to follow him wherever he goes. His undeniable greatness and his ability to market.
I mean they threw multiple punches, it wasn’t like it was one. They both should’ve been gone, because not doing so can (not this game tho) ends up spilling over into brawls
Mainly I think it was because the 90's and you can get away with 100 times more stuff & they were also both superstars. But you're right. In today's game they would even throw out the Superstars. Glad they didn't because we would've never gotten the Iconic Deion interception.
Football is a business and at the end of the day sponsors don't want their products associated with assault. Most people also watch to see the pinnacle of football not brawls
I know we talk about Deion mainly as a Cowboy but 49ers Deion is, without a doubt, his absolute best. His 94 season is barely mentioned in regards to the greatest season for a CB & defensive players, in general. In regards to Greatest DB seasons - 2006 Champ, 2009 Revis, 1994 Deion.
Thanks for the video NFL Throwback! The fight between Deion Sanders and Andre Rison was the highlight we all remember from this game. Does anyone happen to know any full games back during the 1990, 1991, 1992, or 1993 regular seasons that had a fight or brawl break out?
I remember this game because the over was 46 1/2. Was counting my money with 9:30 left in the third quarter, since it had to go over. Not a single point was scored after that. Still can’t believe that.
And years later, the Panthers too... And at same time, the Rams moved to St. Louis. That was a mess, the "West" on the name of division was still thanks to the 49ers
Kudos to the officials for not throwing out Rison or Sanders. I know Terry Bradshaw lost his mind during half time on Fox but stars get different treatment.
Holy s***, this was a bloodbath mismatch from the first snap -- the Niners were like a ravenous school of piranha hungry for flesh, while the Falcons were a wounded capybara who chose the wrong Amazonian tributary to cross!!!

Funny how a lot of old school people call today's game "soft" for shaking hands with your opponents after games, and this was supposedly one of the toughest eras in football and they did the exact same thing 🤔🤔🤔🤔
If only Deion stayed in SF vs. take the money to go to Dallas, he might've gotten up to 4 Super Bowl rings vs. 2. No way Dallas gets past SF again after 1994 & Brett Favre and John Elway would've been hard pressed to only have half a field to pass against if they faced Sanders-led 49ers defense.
