Dude those old Philly Uniforms of the 90s AND Randall Cuningham at QB I just get ALL FRICKIN nostalgic. I miss the NFL OF THE 90s! THUMBS UP IF YOU ALL AGREE!
Hell yeah man, right there with ya
👍
90s football was great, but those uniforms are barf.
The odd running back parallels:
In 95, Watters was an Eagle
In 99, Garner was a 49er
And two very underrated and forgotten running backs of the 90s
Watters was fortunate enough to get a ring with this team
I would not call Watters forgotten... he was a NFL HOF Semi-finalist this year. His issue is that he was never at any point in his career considered the best RB. 5 Pro Bowls, but no All-Pros. He's got good career numbers but never led the league in yards or TDs in any season.Dude was playing at the same time as Barry Sanders, Emmit Smith, Thurman Thomas, Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk, Terrell Davis... those guys all had years (in some cases multiple years) where they were the best. Ricky never did. @@davidbarton1806
Duh
I had to look up garners career stats after watching this game. He was a beast.
I was at this game . Steve young was such a nice guy he waited and gave every fan an autograph on the day he was benched .he was the last guy to come out the players exit on the side of candlestick . There was probably 100 or more fans left .
I forgot about Mark Bavaro playing with the Eagles. I remember Belichick before he had Gronk saying Bavaro was the best Tight End he had coached. Very underrated player.
He was a treasure as a Giant!
Did'nt he also play with the browns when Bill was the head coach?
Yes he played for the browns right after he left the giants.
Bavaro was at the end as an Eagle, but he had his moments
Bavaro was tough as nails
Ah, Madden and Summerall. Miss those guys.
Those Eagles unis were beautiful
I remember this game. Not only was Steve Young benched but this was Charlie Garner's coming out party 💯💯💯
I thought he'd been openly banging dudes for a while already by that point.

This kinda reminds me of 2003 where the bills shut out the patriots 31-0, and the pats went on to win the super bowl that year.
What's great about that is that loss was the first game in the season and the Patriots ended the season shutting out the Bills by the same score.
The fix was in that year. The NFL has been rigged since nine eleven which was also a staged event. The Pats aren't actually now nor have they ever been very good... only a fool would believe Belichick is doing things legitimately.
The same opening game that Lawyer Milloy just joined the Bills after being cut by the Patriots.
It's CRIMINAL that Eric Allen is not a Hall of Famer
That's crazy. The gang green defense should go in as a whole.
Dude it absolutely makes me SICK
One of the rarities in sports where an embarrassing loss helped a team win a championship in the long run.
My first Niners game. Even though we lost, turns out this was the game where the players were inspired by Steve's passion to get back in and try to at least put something on the board. It impressed all his teammates and was the game that turned the season around. Sheifert made the right call to pull Steve. Sheifert doesn't get enough accolades for his contributions to the 49ers. He should be in the HOF.
I was on holiday in the US from the UK when this game was played, my Brother a 49ers fan, me an Eagles fan. I was very happy that day, never forget this game. We did the 9ers a favour in the long run.
I miss the 90's

Jerry Rice! Legend.
"Riceroni" - the San Francisco treat!
"The San Francisco Treat" was also the name of a "gentleman's club" downtown. 😉
This was the first football game I remember ever getting invested in and watching all the way through. 9 year old me’s first day as an Eagle’s fan. Of course they immediately went from Super Bowl pick to not even making the playoffs right after this to get me used to the lifetime of disappointment that was to come.
Haha same except I was 7 and I chose to be a 49er fan after this game because of Jerry Rice, i had a eagles starter jacket too. Was happy for Cunningham in 98
5:53 - Bill Romanowski #53 getting a little aggression out after being traded away from S.F. during the 1994 offseason.
His BBC was heated son.
*The two best commetators in NFL TV history.
I remember watching this game as a 13 yr old kid. I legit had no doubt the Eagles were winning the SB this season, after this game
I was 13 too 😂
Yup, I was 13 too.. Was a 9er fan and was shocked.
And they didn’t 😂 go niners
I just turned 18. Enjoyed the crushing of the Niners. But it awakened a sleeping giant.
@@Herrera777 it certainly did
Sometimes even the best teams have one of those days. A day where the ball never bounces your way and you lose to Rich Kotite.
The 1994 Eagles also ranked #2 on NFL Network’s Top 10 Worst Collapses list. Starting at 7-2 and finishing 7-9. Rich Kotite was fired after the season ended.
And then the Jets thought: That’s our guy!
If you watched this game in 94 it was hard to believe that The Eagles would miss the playoffs. If you watched this game it would also be hard to believe that this would be the last game The 49ers would lose until week 17.
And they pulled their starters in the second quarter of that week 17 game
@@stealthiscool But the BBC was still heated son. The sweat off those meat hogs could cure both cancer and AIDS simultaneously.
William Floyd was a Canton level talent. The knee injury he got was so brutal.
I was pretty bummed when he got hurt, he was ready for a bad ass career.

Love this …… thanks for uploading I can watch over and over again
What a treat before the present game
This might be the worst regular-season home defeat for a Super Bowl champion team in NFL history!
When Seahawks defeated the Eagles in 2017, it was the worst defeat they endured during their Championship run
Same goes to Tampa Bay when they lost to the Saints last year in week 9 matchup, but the Bucs went on to win the SB
The Bucs 38-3 lose last seaosn to the Saints, it could've been even worse
@@stealthiscool At least the Saints won the NFC South while these Eagles MISSED THE PLAYOFFS
Patriots lost 41-14 to the Chiefs in 2014.

Steve Young’s face in the back yelling at George Seifert priceless 😂
I was 11 years old, and this was the only 49ers game I have ever been to.
I miss these days when I first started watching football !
I remember watching this game and I have never seen before and I have to get crushed like this before this game.. a lot of the 49er players said that in a way this kind of helped us because they were really confident that they're going to play the Dallas cowboys in the NFC championship game.. they thought that they can roll up into teams and said hey brother the 49ers but no this was a tough lesson for them and you realize that they have to work for every inch and after this game the 49ers basically destroyed everybody and they had a tough win against the Dallas cowboys.... I was around 12 years old when I saw this game and I almost cried because of it
Man I had just gotten my new green Eagles starter jacket with the big ass 🦅 on the back....had to put it away a few weeks later 😂
What happened to them? They started 7-2 and then lost the next 7
Yea that was rough
The ultimate weapon!!
Herchel Walker and Ricky Watters, yeah, those guys.
Randall ballin out and Charlie Garner gashing the 49'ers at will. What a time that was.
The Eagles may have been the best team in football during the first half of that 1994 season. And then came the second half...
God bless Rich Kotite. One of the most incompetent coaches ever. Lest we forget later in the season when they played the Falcons, and the Eagles came up short on 3rd down but a penalty was called on the Falcons. Faced with the option of repeating 3rd down or declining and going for it on 4th and inches, Kotite declined the penalty... only to punt the ball away
To be fair, a massive injury bug crippled this Eagles team. In the end, I might be wrong but I think Kotite had a better season and playoff record than either Ryan and Rhodes.
Rich Kotex
Don't remind me 😭😭😭
Back in the times when the Eagles are massively inconsistent for at least 2 decades
Thank God I was born only weeks before that season started, I would hate to have clear memories of that mess
Sure miss madden and summerall in the booth, those uniforms are iconic. Bunch of legends out on the field miss those days.
I still remember this game. I really thought this might the Eagles year but they fell apart. Hey NFL I'm still waiting on an 80s throwback.
After he was benched, Steve Young actually tried sparking a physical altercation with George Seifert, the 49ers head coach, by shouting insulting things at him. All-time great QBs do occasionally have awful games of this sort. Tom Brady has had a couple and Aaron Rodgers had one recently against the Saints.
Apologize for what you just said about Tom.

Clearly the L was worth it. After this game, and the comeback against Detroit the following week the squad just never looked back. This is probably the one loss I didn't internally cringe when you uploaded it. Thanks, and keep continuing to spotlight the classics. Go Niners :D
I remember watching this game live, and remember Randall did this against a secondary that had Deion sanders playing for it ..
*ahhh, that intro... OH! SUMMERALL! This is going to be great... WAIT, IS THAT THEE CHARLIE GARNER!?*
What a throwback game. Thank you for this upload.
Dang I forgot Mark Bavaro played for the Eagles too...
I swear this is the game that turned the season because they came out ready to play the rest of the season and playoffs. It seemed to light a fire and hey those throwback uniforms were pretty cool as well - that was like their good luck charm.
How about Cunningham vs. the Patriots in week 9 of 1990? His best game.
This was like the most unexpected game ever....
A good amount of Raider players from both teams that would end up being team mates a few years down the road.
You spelled 'teammates' wrong you absolute fool. Apologize.
As a Niners fan I'm glad this game happen cause sometimes you get too big headed you need a reality check and they won the Super Bowl.
I remember this game. Was in total disbelief the whole time. Had no clue that Philly was that good which they were or SF just had a bad game but they dominated us good
In retrospect, George Seifert actually made a wise call in pulling Steve Young before the end of the game. Seifert is not known for benching players, (let alone quarterbacks) having a bad game. His teams were never bad enough to that point. But considering the hits Young took not only in this game, but in the 3 games leading up to this one, Seifert did Young a favor by not risking him a potential season-ending injury.
Obviously, Young was angry. But it ultimately galvanized the whole 49er team that ended up winning 10 straight to close out the regular season. And oh yes, they finally dethroned the Cowboys when it counted and won that 5th Lombardi.
Very underrated coach George Seifert was. He knew that he inherited a winning formula from Bill Walsh. He also knew that he had players that would get the job done and was willing to trust them.
Back in the days it didn't matter if you was a star qb. If you played bad you got benched. Which can make a player play better afterwards. This was last loss until week 17. And went on to win sb
Antione Davis was those String things that you hung in the door way in between doors in the 70's. he was easy to walk through.
Probably the last awesome Randall game for the Eagles that I remember.
i remember this beatdown from our last championship campaign philly just came harder that day they were so on point. look at young garner.
I believe 1994, with Fox, was the first year seeing the score of the game on the screen at all times.
Yes, it was. And was one of the reasons why I liked watching their games over all the other networks.
My dad and my grandpa were watching this game and we’re just out right confused as eagles fans 😂
Charlie Garner would go on to become a key piece to the offense of the 2002 Raiders Super Bowl team
We need more 49ers games from their super bowl winning season please
Rich Kotite's last notable win as a coach of any team, and before his debacle as Jets head coach.
Young wanted to come back against the Eagles like Montana did in 1989.
That opportunity was gone when he was pulled. It was always a Montana thing with Young. Even winning the Super Bowl that season, he had to "get the monkey off his back".
That Eagles team started 7-2 and didn't win another game. That was on Jeffrey Lurie being a first year owner and not knowing how to handle the pressing questions at the time.
AWESOME!!!!! Beating the best the same way they beat so many others.
Loved number 34 of SF taunts eagles, then never seen again. I remember saying " where's 34" all that afternoon.
the quality is legit
The turning point of the 49ers 1994 season.
The motivation for a championship! Go 9ers!
Put Romo and Madden on any game. Mannnnn Madden voice give me 2000 Madden chillss...
Randall could throw a sweet ball
All that in spite of heavy down syndrome. He really did overcome a lot.
@@jennyanydots2389"Heavy down syndrome?"
Philly started that season 7-2, then lost their remaining 7 games, Rich Kotite got fired. Meanwhile, San Fran won their last Super Bowl to date that year.
Remember watching this game as a 12 year old Eagles fan , thinking superbowl damn damn damn. Rich Kotite started the season 7-2 then lost 7 in a row
I remember this well
I remember some what watching this game I was 15 years old at the time
It doesn't matter how good or talented your team is. Some days just don't go your way.
Fortunately for the 49ers they just put their and didn't let the setback stop them.
Cunningham & Eric Allen R UnderRated
geez this eagles team was stacked with oldheads of their time
Herschel Walker
Mike Bavaro
AND Refrigerator Perry?

LOL...Love those HUGE 90's shoulder pads!!
Considering where this took place, and how great their opponent was, this is very likely the best game the Eagles have ever played. If anyone knows of a more impressive game in the history of that franchise I would love to see it.
SB 52
The Niners didn't lose again after this game until Week 17 when they rested their starters in Minnesota. Then, they went on to dominate the playoffs and win the Super Bowl. Crazy how these outlier games happen sometimes, even to great teams!
The Eagles started this season 7-2 and were legit Super Bowl contenders. They then lost the next 7 to finish 7-9. Not sure what happened
When Mark Bavaro is on your team, you have better odds of defeating the 49ers.
Just like 91 nfc championship
This was a really good Eagle team. They pretty much were developing a really talented team of potential future stars. Charlie Garner was a good RB. He was really the 1st good RB the Eagles had since Wilbert Montgomery. Barnett, Williams, Victor Bailey. They had some playmakers. But by next season, it was all over. The Eagles fell apart
I'm an avid Eagle fan and I don't remember this. Cunningham was moving the chains at will. Charlie Garner was always an explosive back. His problem was staying on the field healthy. This Eagle team started 1994 7-2 then lost their remaining 7 games. Wow!!!!
Steve was "young", but Randall was "cunning"...and John Madden was eating a *HAM sandwich!
Good times. Good times.
I forgot Romonowski was on the eagles. Charlie garner was a monster this game
Ricky Watters gets to see his future employer up close.
I watched that game. Young was pissed when he was taken out of the game.
30 years ago// i remember saying "that 49er team isnt going anywhere" :) :)
this was the game that 49ers used for motitvation for the rest of the year prob the motitvation on winning the super bowl that year...
Actually they were close to imploding. They were drubbed in this game and then the following week at Detroit they fell behind 14-0. Young got the entire offense together on the sidelines so anyone who had something to say could say it. Whatever was said worked. Down 14-0 they rallied to win 27-21 and pretty much cruised until the NFC championship game
BTW with week 3 on the horizon I'm already wondering what you'll decide to spotlight. Perhaps 2009 MNF Patriots/Saints? Or maybe 2004 Colts/Titans from week 2? Can't wait to find out.
Mark Bavaro in a Sheagles uniform was strange.
Cunningham looks like he can hand the ball off 20 yards down field, remember the off-season player beach competitions, he threw 90 and punted it 90
The 49ers needed the emotion this asswhooping gave. That and the frustration of the first quarter of the next game against hte Lions.
