- In this video I explain how intelligent smoke detectors communicate with intelligent panels. I also introduce monitor modules and explain how they are an interface between intelligent panels and conventional devices.

There is only two power cable having dc supply, does SD or MCP communicating through this power cable if so than how ? Please explain... Thanks

I'm trying to figure out using devices with N.O. / N.C. and having a relay with the same. Does the relay switch as well during signaling?

Joe, can you give an example of a pump room device where you would connect to COM and NC?
There's not a good reason I could think of, at least not with an addressable panel. If you had an old conventional panel that didn't have the capability of programming a zone as supervisory, and so a short on any zone would cause an alarm, then you'd want a tamper to open the circuit to cause a trouble.

My opinion would be fluke, and that seems to be the industry standard. I haven't really given another brand an honest try, besides using someone else's meter here or there, so take this advice with a grain of salt. I have used a fluke 179 for as long as I can remember and have no reason to change that now.
in Siemens addressable facp system..what's is the used for IFU( HCP type and HTRI-R type)?
In the wiring of beam detector to a fmm 1, do we follow the same wiring as the water flow switch?
Typically you would wire it more closely to a conventional duct detector, where the wires go into the alarm contacts on common / normally open, but then the resistor runs through the trouble contacts.

I want to say you can. On eBay they have the monitor module for pulls and smokes that you can put in the unique device id

First, you need to identify all of your conventional zones as well as all end-of-line resistor locations. If you have the order of connection of your detectors, it will be even better.
You will need to get for your transition: one zone monitor per conventional zone to be able to supervise your system. Subsequently, replace all the components of a conventional circuit at a time with addressable modules. Start from panel to EOL if possible. Never forget that your system must be operational when you leave the client. Try doing this for the first time with someone who is used to doing it. The last piece of advice I give you is to plan and prepare yourself so that you don't have any surprises

How many ohms the resistor in the waterflow switch?
Always depends on the module you use. In all of my drawings, which use system sensor style devices, the EOL would be 47k Ohms, but it will be different if you're using a different type of module.

You told us how u label them, but how does the panel know that 5 is the one u want to be 5. You call the smoke detector 1 and in the panel you tell it that a smoke detector is 1, but how does it know which smoke detector.. hope u understand what I am trying to say.
I do understand. All addressable devices have a way to set the address on the device. On System Sensor-style devices (which are the types of devices I draw, used by Gamewell/FCI, Notifier, Fire-Lite, & Silent Knight), it's a rotary dial that addresses the devices. Some manufacturers like Simplex use binary DIP switches, which I could do a video on. Other manufacturers require a separate handheld programmer that you place the device into and set the address. Lastly some manufacturers use an embedded serial number, and the panel learns the "address" based on that.
