- Founded in 1951, Goldtop have been kitting out motorcyclists since before the Cafe Racer era.
After some time away, Goldtop returned and opened up their new HQ in the Hertfordshire countryside!
We then took the long way back, passing through the picturesque village of Finchingfield- a very popular spot for classic car and motorcycle enthusiasts.

Gold top is the only gloves I have 3 pairs of. Love the quaility but downsides are they never have discounts and they give a slight run around when it comes to if styles will ever be restocked. Old fashioned in practice which is not great in some instances. That said i still support them made a glove review on my own channel.
Thanks AJ- I’ll pin this as the review is very useful👌🏻
It was lovely to see you, Freddie. Thanks for posting such a wonderful tour of The Goldtop Shop!
Hey Freddie dont ever stop doing what you do so well. Ive recently unsubscribed from many motorcycle youtube channels because the content creators have go carried away with their own egos and think thst they have become some sort of celebrity. Thankyou for keeping it real we really do appreciate the work you put in👍
They’re great. I was being ordained a priest and wanted to treat myself to a new biker jacket. Wanted a Goldtop cafe racer jacket in a medium however they were sold out. Two days later they rang me and said they’d found the prototype and sold me that in time for my ordination. It’s now my go to clergy jacket. Great gear. Nice guys
I think you're now ready for your ordination, and when exactly will you be hitting the road?
@@JacquelineDelaitre been on the Cornish roads for two years now. A Harley and a dog collar.
@@christopherharrigan8197 Okay, I get it, you're having a great time criss-crossing Cornish roads. Have you done any other routes? Do you plan to be on the road over the weekend? I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a good weekend.

We have so much great motorcycling heritage in our country. Good to an old brand back with us.
*7:35** Always good to see bikes with L plates on at a meet up, they are the next generation and need to be encouraged so as keep everything vibrant.*
Strongly agree!😃
I don’t understand why there’s such a sentiment towards encouraging the next generation. A lot of videos ive seen there’s always a comment to this effect
Is motorcycling culture suffering an existential threat or something?
Take a look at the average age of motorcyclists...
Another top class video. Soothing music and the sun is shining what more anyone could ask for.
One of the best things on the channel is to travel to such beautiful & historic places ❤
Congratulations on 150k next up 1 million!!!
Thanks Kaizen, really appreciate it🤜🏼🤛🏼
Got to love Finchingfield and Winners cafe. Nothing better for a lazy sunny day. It's like that week days too. Not just weekends.
Awesome video as always, Freddie. Was great to meet you in person as well! Sid 👊🏽
The visit to Goldtop and that Lovely village Finchingfield was just a pleasure, thanks Freddie.
I’m on their newsletter list and a photo of you popped up and then I get on RUclips and there you are. 👍
I love that red LeMans you parked next to at the end.
Cool the Led Zeppelin Black Dog song at 10 mins good taste in music and the leather jackets with the cartoons on them so awesome
Many great nights spent in the Fox at Finchingfield back in the sixties when it was the favourite pub for the "Yanks" at Wethersfield Airbase. Great to see the village again.
Shame the base is full of immigrants now.
I've had a pair of Goldtop gloves for 3 seasons now. Great quality, but pricey. I knew they were an older brand, but not the recent history. Thanks telling their story.
Glad you enjoyed it!:)
back on the tarmac, bike shops and coffee….. living the dream Fred thanks for the great content always a great watch
Where I belong😆🛣️ Glad you enjoyed it, Denis!
Fantastic video!
Goldtop is my local spot!
So glad you had a chance to visit!
Looks fantastic,as you rode in with all the motorcyles beneath the old red brick buildings. Sheer art, mate.
Fantastic place. Love the gloves i got from them. So nice to have these sort of places dotted around. So much more than just a shop.
I bought a pair of gold top gloves at the London bike show and they are top notch 👌🏼
Haven't watched through all of this video yet; stopping and looking at the stunning blue Harley Knucklehead.
A 1930s… coming up to 100 years old!😳
@@FreddieDobbs Thanks Freddie. I really enjoyed this video. I think the first year of the H-D Knucklehead was 1936. Not sure if you
are familiar with or watch Wheels Through Time channel; which is an American motorcycle museum, located in Maggie Valley North Carolina.
They specialize mostly in antique American motorcycles, especially in Harley-Davidsons. They restore an antique motorcycle almost every year,
then put it up for auction. This year they're auctioning a 36 H-D Knucklehead.
That Blue Harley is basicvally my dream bike 0_0
Nice video and coffee stop at Goldtops never knew it was there and the village awesome! Will go to both 👍
Bloody hell, I had no idea they were still going. I'm old enough to have owned a pair of Goldtop boots a very long time ago and they were always considered to be 'good stuff' back then. What goes around comes around, eh?
Had a pair of Goldtop boots back in the 70s. Best bike boots I've ever had.
Thanks!
They tried to revive the Indian Brand several times. One time they tried by putting S&S Evo Motors in custom frames.
They are truly special and the Motor is absolutely top notch.
@dobbs, great to see u at gold top and you made it to Finchingfield too two excellent venues in this neck of the woods ! Another great video !
Love those chocolate box villages in the south of England, beautiful setting for your videos Freddie 😊
Finchingfield is stunning. I live not to far from it. Lovely ride out with such a chill vibe.
I have no idea how you know of these places Freddie , but I'm glad you do. I'll be checking king out Goldtop very soon. Thanks
Bought my first leather jacket at goldtop still love it. Finchingfield on a Sunday is a great shout
Thank you for this video, Freddie. This was on my list of places to visit in November when i visit from the US. The Bike Shed and Urban Rider are also on the list.
You’ll love this place, Guenter! Not too far from London, too👌🏻
Very enjoyable to see Goldtop are still around and your village trip... but Freddie, you were parked next to a stunning Moto Guzzi Le Mans Mk1 and you ignored it like it wasn't there :)
I recommend riding the CCM. Picked up one, the flat tracker, 6 weeks ago. Everytime I swing my leg over it puts a smile on my face. A talking piece too! Seems to strike up a conversation everywhere I go
Brilliant old school vibe for sure
I have 2 of their leather jackets....top notch, tons of compliments
Another great video F&M. Goldtop looks great and that village looks stunning, quintessential England ❤ Congratulations on 150k, going from strength to strength.
Great video. You missed the lovely Honda 400 but I’ll let you off this time 😂
Just got some Gold Top gloves a few weeks ago, absolutely beautiful craftsmanship!
Looking forward to my second pair for next summer.
7:26 Danny I have no words 😂
😂😂😂
Thanks Freddie. Another super vid and another destination to add to my wish list!
A nice vid Freddie, thanks. Nice bikes, nice cars, good weather and a lovely place to stop. What more could you want for a day out on the bike? 😀
Thanks for this. My very first gloves when I started biking in 1979 were Goldtops, so it's great to see them still going and with the same focus on quality. I checked out their website and now have a pair of Predators on my Christmas list. Be aware that not all of the gloves listed are CE approved so bear that in mind if you're planning a French trip where they are a legal requirement (with a €68 fine for failure to comply).
Love it! Looks like a brilliant day, and good to see so many people there!
I was there literally the day before. Reluctant to say this in case they raise the prices but I have the 617 jacket and it's phenomenal value, also one of the few bike jackets you can easily wear 'off the bike' as well as on.
They do look like phenomenal quality and incredibly hard wearing jackets💪🏼 Totally agree re their style- they’re good looking jackets full stop👌🏻
Another superb video Freddie you always come up with new videos which are totally different to all your others. That village visit was stunning and along with your Goldtops shop that really completed your usual high standard filming.I really enjoy your trips and from an ex biker old guy I just love sitting in my garage watching what I used to do.Brilliant Freddie and please keep them coming.
Great Video Freddie glad Gold Top are getting some exposure as their riding gear is top notch and very cool 👍
Old stomping ground for you, that region. I liked your videos, like this one, when you were based in Ipswich.
Beautiful village ❤️ loved the classic meet and soundtrack.
Fantastic 👍
Great video, it brings back so many memories of a miss spent youth - back in the mid 1960's my first leather jacket, flying boots and gloves were all made by Goldtop. The jacket was a centre zip type and very cold in the winters so soon changed for a Lewis Leathers double breasted style. Gloves worn out after lots of use, the jacket 'shrunk' after some time, the boots are still with me but alas my feet have swollen with age 😢 Oh to be 19 again, still got my bike from that time.
Great video as always Freddie and looked like a great ride out. Hope the everyone visiting the village is respectful of local people
This is like watching the travel channel but for bikers
Congrats on the 150K subs mate. Being old I love the old companies reviving. Ace video.
16:22 lovely wee Mimosa Mk3 Triumph GT6 Freddie, had a ‘72 identical to it more than 20yrs back, lovely wee cars, JB
Good stuff Freddie , chilled out day. Just what you need after the TET
Coffee and bikes have become synonymous. Both great passions to enjoy together.
To think that 25yrs ago the best coffee available at a stop was a cup of instant.
How things change!
Good watch. Ride safe 👍
Or a percolator/filter coffee. The Brits were mighty pleased with themselves if they drank it!
@@PDCRed true!
I remember even when I started riding 14 years ago, the choice for good coffee was microscopically small. In the past six years especially- things have exploded☕️
Great video Freddie, have a well deserved coffee on me, cheers!
Thank you so much, hugely appreciated!🙌🏻
I bought a pair of Goldtop gloves in 1976 and had them for about ten years. I loved them. The leather was top quality. There was a pair in the glass case upstairs in the new shop that looked just like my old ones.
Their new jackets look really retro and just the job for a classic Norton Commando or a BSA A10 or Triumph Bonnie etc.
I didn't see any leather jeans - you need these and long seaboot socks along with a pair of Goldtop classic boots to get that authentic cafe racer vibe!
Enjoy your ride whatever bike you have everyone.
Rab
The T140 Bonnie up on the shelf inside the shop looked like it was a Limited addition Silver jubilee launched in 1977 2400 where made in total for the U.S and UK markets so quite a “rare” bike
Sweet vid luv that Harley ❤❤
Love GoldTop gear real quality stuff ok not cheap but great stuff & there a British company 👍🏻
As ever a great video. Nice tour of Goldtop. Now how about Lewis Leathers. The oldest British motorcycle clothiers.
Great to see GoldTop doing well. Takes me back decades😮 How's your mate get on with the dodgy plate?
Hi Freddie, if you could do when you can a comparative video of the hunter 350 and the new classic 350 with led headlight and other things, we will see the presentation in India on September 1, greetings from Argentina, I send you a big hug!!!! I love your videos!
I very much enjoyed the Goldtop tour. I was a client before Brexit.
I've worn Goldtop Sheepskin lined gauntlets for years. Really great piece of kit.
So glad to see people rate the products highly!
Great video and ride out, you cetrinly had the weather, I was always a Lewis Leathers man myself, with the shop being local to me.
10/10
Brilliant ☘️
When your Bonneville was unveiled in Tamworth there was actually a Jubilee Bonneville parked outside the shop, although a U.S version with high bars and a smaller tank 🇬🇧
Nice to see not everyone has had the awful summer we've had up here near Glasgow, some say this is just the weather changing because of global warming... It ain't warmer! 😂 It's been miserable especially as a biker so your vids are very welcome! 👌🏻 Oh and Goldtop are top notch, I'm ordering another pair of gloves. The newer armoured jackets are lovely.
This is a good brand…sensible prices
I've been to finchingfield lots of times, but never heard of goldtop, it's only 20 minutes from my house, I'll definitely check it out 👍 great content as always Freddie! Think the bonnie needs a challenge now though, Morocco Pt 2 perhaps...
Heal up, Freddie!
I've loads of items from Goldtop, real quality gear. I've never actually ridden to their premises, the only reasoning being the inability to get a proper breakfast there, they're possibly missing a bit of a trick; a catering van in the car park (as is the case at On Yer Bike), would make it more appealing a destination.
My first boots were Goldtop... lots of dubbin to keep the feet dry but the zip at the back eventually would trickle the water in... ooh that was a lovely Mk1 LeMans - I lost my one to my first divorce ;(
Oh this is painful (losing that Guzzi)!
Well Danny, you did say “well, never say never” two months ago 😂.
To be fair, the bike suites you and looks amazing!
Can’t wait to see another video of Freddy and you and talking about the bike.
And I have to admit: I’m curious if that sentence will show up again 🤔
Freddie keeping up the variety...not just bike reviews....but he's got no eye for bikes...always misses astonishing looking bikes right under his nose. He's gone round a workshop looking at every bike there and didn't mention the most interesting one that was in shot for so much of the video....lol.
Nice little website Boom £56.00 spent Stay safe Atb, Roach
I wear gold top bobber gloves , best gloves ever and getting better with age
I've been to Goldtop. Nice place with some lovely gear.
Finchinfield isn't far from me, I love riding through it to Haverhill.
They have just resurfaced the roads with chippings. Yuk
Everyone looked so glum and grim in both places. ... There's nothing like having so much fun on a day out, 'ey.
Pleased to see you're recovering from the off roading. A lighter bike and some padding next time !
Thanks🙌🏻🙌🏻 And agreed
I love their jackets. I just wish the warm liners zipped out.
I grew up in bishop's Stortford, that place used to do pick your own fruit. I've long since moved away. was back a few weeks ago, if I'd known that place was there! Ah well Next time!
Haha Danny changes his bikes like he changes his jocks haha what happened to the sports glide 😂😂😂
I would gladly buy Goldtop gear and pay a premium if it was Made in Britain, sadly it's not. But I hear the quality is very good.
My local bike clothing retailer. Think I have a glove habbit😂
😆
Love the videos Freddie, think I have watched 80% now! I know you use Quad Lock to mount your phone to your bike. I've read a few people say that the phone camera can be damaged with a Quad Lock. Does the vibration dampener solve this do you think? Thanks Martin
obviously a beautiful premises & products, are they all made in the UK ? as per the originals would be my first question & I am sorry you cant claim a lineage going back 70 years when you have had a break in production for several decades, just buying a brand name does not buy the history & kudos, Triumph Hinkley have been trying to do the same for years, they cant buy the Triumph Meridan history no matter how much they want to
Must be a decent shop. They play Led Zep 🎶
The sound of the 70s🎶🎶
the smell in there must be absolutely intoxicating..
Freddie,,that was a 1977 Silver Jubilee Bonneville, that windcheater offered zero protection mate,,ride safe..Goldtop also do leather care you could have got some boot polish 🤣
9:50 The smell...must be a wonderful smell!
The Bonnie on display was not your average T 140, but the coveted "Silver Jubilee" model from 1977, celebrating Queen Elisabeth's 25th throne jubilee. I kind of doubt that one can get one of those for 6k.
Great video Freddie. One point. Is that a non venting fuel cap on your bike? My brother has a 2012 air cooled Bonneville and it has a venting fuel cap on it. I blew the fuel pump ring seal on my Classic 500 by fitting a non venting fuel cap. It was a Motone and Customs cap and yours looks the same. If you hear some pressure release during hot weather when you remove your cap it probably means you need to put a venting cap back on or it could cause you some issues.
Hey Freddie, I looked on the Goldtop website store and couldn't find that magnetic tank bag at all. Are you sure it's actually being offered for sale?
00:05 Could be wrong but I’m pretty sure this video start with a sneaky little fart
1:11 .. esos son silenciadores de interceptor en tu triumph.?
The Harley with the foot clutch and hand shift would had suit you.
