  • The plaintiff hired the defendant to print logos on hundreds of shirts. He says the defendant botched the job and printed the wrong logo on all the apparel. The plaintiff had to pay for new shirts out of pocket, so he’s suing for his money back. The defendant argues he’s been in business for years and isn’t at fault.

I was in the commercial printing industry for almost 50 years. I don't care how good technology gets, you treat artwork like it's dynamite. You get signed proofs in every way possible. On paper and electronically.

Yes. This was a PE--printer error. And why the printer *always* sends a proof and waits. Nothing moves without a signature and explicit approval.

My old job included ordering items with specific logos on it and the amount of emails back and forth to make sure it was placed and printed exactly like we wanted was annoying at the time. Now watching this I'm so glad the printing company asked so many questions. The drop in the bucket was just rude and if it was so little he should have paid quickly.

I worked at a printing company before and we always had sign off approvals with signature before any production proceeds and for this company to just (non-shalantly) "ehh pur business is doing good so this is just a drop in the bucket, is a poor way of doing business. How they managed to run like that for 30 years is beyond me.

With the wife owning a promotional business that is mainly busy with screen printing and embroidery, I've had the pleasure of being the screen printer for a few years now and love watching these t-shirt cases!! The first thing you do is write up an art approval with the exact graphic being printed, there is a review option and we STRONGLY encourage you to go over every detail with or without us and double check what you see is what you want! There can be a problem with matching colors since computer colors and real ink colors are not an exact match at times. Regardless we give a qote, art approval, and my butt won't let a bad print go out the door EVER!! I get in trouble with being too much of a perfectionist, 😉. If you're ever in need SHIRTSMITH, Jefferson City, Mo!! We got your back!!

defendant is running a sloppy business and is dishonest to boot. Everyone knows you get a proof and sign off. Come on! I feel badly for Abby because she was likely dismissed. It's probably easier for her to be respectful when people are respectful to her and present their cases with ease and without her having to beg for every piece of evidence. What she perceives has little to do with it. Litigants should come dressed for court in proper clothing, not club wear or street wear as litigants often do. These guys are obviously businessmen, so they have suits they can don for court. They dressed appropriately. Good for them. Either way, one side is going to lose. She's a good judge, she'll make the right call based on the law and facts, not on what they're wearing.
