Another great video. I am currently in a trial period with hearing aids. Although price is a factor, so is quality of life.. if you are factoring in a five year lifespan and you plan is to keep your hearing aids for that period of time, the cost of $7,000 breaks down to $3.83 per day. I think my quality of life is worth $3.83 per day if i have something that works well. And no, I am not employed in the hearing care industry and am on social security disability income. I don’t have an unlimited amount of money to spend. Also, transmission of the video was great. Picture was much clearer and sharper. While i know it was a large expense to caption these videos, i still prefer the captions i have set up. I prefer my font , font color and transparent background as i think it is easier to read for me and i prefer my captions on the bottom on the screen. And the last thing, and this is just a personal preference,is there a way to raise the laptops or table so your faces are at a better angle for speech reading and visual cues. A setup more like my local news. Again, these are personal preferences. Your mileage may vary. Again, another great broadcast.

I could use some pro advice: I may have some Recruitment resulting from a SSHL in my left ear. Any advice for striking a balance between my own voice being too loud as a trade off for external sounds being at a comfortable level? Is this a compression issue?

Thanks for the video , I missed the live show . I don’t have hearing aids yes . Learning all I can , before getting them . Because my tinnitus is so loud I’m not sure hearing will help .
Re loud sounds I was told that this was something my brain had to sort it out. I have to take mine out if I’m around children or people with loud voices. The other end I can’t hear softly spoken people. Mine whistle too. I have closed domes. Didn’t know anything about custom made was not offered. Not able to try hearing aids you have to buy them.
To an extent your brain can and will get reaccustomed to hearing them. Don’t let that be overused as an excuse. There are many adjustments that can be made to improve tolerability of loud sounds. Make sure your provider takes loudness discomfort thresholds and adjusts compression ratios and MPO accordingly
Sir I have condective hearing loss in this condition using hearing aids helps to delay more hearing loss or not? I have suffering more then 10 years please reply
Great pod cast today I learned so much. I just received the Oticon Real 2 miniRite R hearing aids that are rechargeable. Is it necessary to use an air dryer with the newer models? Are they water proof or water resistant? Please advise how to take care of these hearing aids for longevity. Thank you.
I think the only hearing aids that probably don't need dehumidified as much are the phonak Life. How often you need to dry depends on your climate and activities.
I mean it's not totally necessary to have that but it never hurts to get one but with rechargeables nope not really
Regarding Signia notch therapy. I am in s study at Lunds uni Sweden, that are looking at different ways to treat tinnitus with Signia hearing aids. Three gruops one is ordinary fitting (with real ear mesurment etc), one with notch theapay and one more that I don´t remeber what it is. I guess results from this study will start to come next year if you are interested in looking into this topic.
I never hear a review comment about how good the quality of music played via Bluetooth from a phone in different RIC hearing aids. I find it terrific in my Oticon More 1 aids. Is it the same in others, like the Phonak Paradise and Lumity??
I have the Phonak Paradise, and I get great quality using my TV connect. I hear sounds in the soundtrack that I never knew existed. I don't stream a lot of music, but I think that music would be just as good as the TV soundtrack.
Phonaks are great for streaming. Signias are not great for music. But I mostly listen to audiobooks and podcasts so they're fine for that. I think it has more to do with the low energy Bluetooth protocol not being as good as the standard that Phonak uses.
Your Resident needs to have her speaker volume turned up! Can easily hear other two but Resident is very soft spoken and needs more volume, at least for me...Am I the only one with this comment? Michael A
Part of the problem is that audiologists have a business model that builds all their margin in the cost of devices and 3 yrs of care. That leads to a 7K price tag for hearing aids, and it turns off customers. With OTC and lower cost prescription devices from the web, audiologists need to pivot to a service-oriented business model with profitability built into ad hoc services.
