  • Greetings, viewers!
I started this video wanting to take a run around town, but soon realized I was getting too distracted by the old western stores and copious cowboys, so I redirected onto the neighborhood streets to see the little gem of a town for myself, the way the locals see it every day. I met more of the locals on this overnight visit than I had anywhere else on my trip, placing Tombstone at THE MOST friendly town I've visited in Arizona thus far! I truly can't wait to go back and uncover more magic in this tiny town. It was just up my alley! Some might find Tombstone a little cliche because it's so touristy, but I grew up in a very tourist-oriented town so to me, it just feels like a place with an actual identity, unlike most American towns which are nothing but big box stores surrounded by suburbs.
Sitting at 4,406ft, the evening got brisk soon after sundown, and I hear the summers are comparatively mild due to the elevation. It even snows a few inches!
If you ever visit, I highly recommend staying at the Larian motel! I found the room to be comfortable and the service first rate. Supposedly haunted, I didn't notice anything, but the ghosts may have had the night off. ;)
There's also a bright yellow house on one of the side streets that's an AirBnB that I'd like to stay at one day as I talked with the owner randomly as I passed by on my run. He and his wife own the cafe in the back of the antique store on the main drag. It's called Jane's Coffee, Cafe, and Bakery. Plus the antique store is chock full of interesting relics of bygone eras.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about Tombstone:
Tombstone is a city in Cochise County, Arizona, United States, founded in 1879 by prospector Ed Schieffelin in what was then Pima County, Arizona Territory. It became one of the last boomtowns in the American frontier. The town grew significantly into the mid-1880s as the local mines produced $40 to $85 million in silver bullion, the largest productive silver district in Arizona. Its population grew from 100 to around 14,000 in less than seven years. It is best known as the site of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and presently draws most of its revenue from tourism.
The town was established on Goose Flats, a mesa above the Goodenough Mine. Within two years of its founding, although far distant from any other metropolitan area, Tombstone had a bowling alley, four churches, an ice house, a school, two banks, three newspapers, and an ice-cream parlor, alongside 110 saloons, 14 gambling halls, and numerous dance halls and brothels. All of these businesses were situated among and atop many silver mines. The gentlemen and ladies of Tombstone attended operas presented by visiting acting troupes at the Schieffelin Hall opera house, while the miners and cowboys saw shows at the Bird Cage Theatre and brothel.
Under the surface were tensions that grew into deadly conflict. The mining capitalists and the townspeople were largely Republicans from the Northern states. Many of the ranchers (some of whom-like the Clantons-were also rustlers or other criminal varieties) were Confederate sympathizers and Democrats. The booming city was only 30 miles (48 km) from the U.S.-Mexico border and was an open market for cattle stolen from ranches in Sonora, Mexico, by a loosely organized band of outlaws known as The Cowboys. The Earp brothers-Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan-as well as Doc Holliday, arrived in December 1879 and mid-1880. The Earps had ongoing conflicts with Cowboys Ike and Billy Clanton, Frank and Tom McLaury, and Billy Claiborne. The Cowboys repeatedly threatened the Earps over many months until the conflict escalated into a shootout on October 26, 1881. The historic gunfight is often portrayed as occurring at the O.K. Corral, though it actually occurred a short distance away in an empty lot on Fremont Street.

Bat Masterson was: Born in Quebec in 1853. Popular legend suggests he acquired the nickname “Bat” from his habit of using an ornate cane to belabor rowdy cowboys during his stint as a Dodge City lawman.

I enjoyed this video.... blogs are not dead.... they could be a nice addition to your You Tube video and another way to showcase your writing as well as your photography. You could build patrons. Artist need their patrons. :) I also know that it takes time.
Invictas Art Photography 10 years ago was awesome. There is much photo art that can be done with your cell phone and free still photography sites... the gram is most popular of course. Re-introduce your visual art in addition to your You Tube channel.
Personal art photo work could lead you to some nice and fulfilling social and commercial paths. It might not make you rich but people will get to see the creative work that you capture. Lots of gorgeous views to capture and frame where you roam.... just saying. :)

Yes! Eventually I plan to bring some photography into this, just not sure how yet. I'd like to make a Playlist or something showcasing some of my old work, for memory's sake if nothing else. And yes, patrons! I plan on utilizing the memberships here on RUclips first, once I'm eligible, but in the meantime I put together a Linktree that I include at the bottom of my video descriptions. The sooner this channel creates income the more time I can give it!

I see it was a Thursday in the first part of the video, near Christmas. I'm trying to figure out why Big Nose Kate's was closed. I see you made it there the next day. Looked really quiet. Was this Thanksgiving? Bat Masterson was a famous lawman. He and Wyatt Earp cleaned up Dodge City, Kansas. I thought the Larian had a microwave? I used to stay there when I visited. I live here, now.

I guess they were having a special meeting or something, hence the closure. This video was shot December 14th. I've been releasing one per week so they're getting pretty behind now, lol. I'll catch up soon though! That's cool you live there! How are you liking it? Everyone was SO friendly! I can't wait to go back.

@@invictaland1983 I seem to remember that they closed for redoing the floors or something. I like it here. As you know, it's a small town. Maybe 1,300 residents? There isn't a traffic light. As I mentioned, I had been visiting for years and stayed at the Larian. Gordon and Linda are both very friendly. Last year at the 30th anniversary of the movie, "Tombstone," I bumped into Gordon at Schieffelin Hall where he was the emcee. He asked me why I don't come to the Larian anymore. I told him because I live here now. I have lived here just a little over two years. Yes, everyone is pretty friendly.
