I was 5 when Frederick came through. I was in kindergarten or 1st grade at St. Marks there in Mobile. My dad decided that it was best not to ride it out and took us up to Montgomery. I remember coming back home and being in awe at the destruction.
I have since been through about seven hurricanes and numerous tropical storms living in florida for the past 35 years but I am still glad that I missed Frederick.

I was in high school in a small town in Alabama just north of Mobile. My parents had us shielded in a hallway in the middle of the house. It was so warm and the power was out for several days. I remember people charging $5.00 for a bag of ice.

I was 4 years old in Mississippi & can still remember my whole family huddled in the hallway with mattress on top of us. Even as a weakened storm, it caused havoc in my small town

I lived in Mt. Vernon in Mobile Co, Al at the time, we were out of time at my parents house, me and my husband started home 2 days later, the back roads was the only way home with tree's and power lines down all the way home, people had cut small sections to allow cars to pass through, once home our trailer was okay with only one end of our trailer off the blocks, by the end of the day my husband, family and friends, they jacked it up and moved back on the blocks, living on the Red Fox rd, were families and friends helped each other.

My pawpaw lost all the trees in his yard but 2 oaks and 1 magnolia. Pics before frederic showed at least 50 trees in the yard, was some crazy winds. The recored showed a max gust in mobile at 101mph but id bet it was a good deal higher with what damage the storm caused.

The bridge on DIP was demolished and removed in the early 1970s, the storm didn't destroy the bridge over the Theodore Industrial Canal, the Corp of Engineers was responsible for it and dredging the canal years before Hurricane Frederic.

I knew a man when I worked for Coke that said he went to a store that stored the can sodas in a brick room out back and when he went to stock it he said the cans were empty but not open. Said the low pressure pulled the soda out of the cans .

7:47 This is just bad editing. You left the mayor saying his year and a half old child was seven months pregnant and did not want to stay home during the hurricane.
