I have a basic question. Lets say that the washer dryer has the following capacity - 10 kg washing/6 kg drying. You put 6 kg of laundry for washing. After the washing cycle though this 6 kg of laundry will become more than 6 kg because it will contain water of course. Does that mean that you have to remove some of the washed laundry before drying? I think you get my question. Thank you:)

So over all are they a good buy? I live in a place where I don't have a space for separate dryer, and my slothes don't dry well over winter (takes about 4-5 days, no time for that..). So considering buying one of the washer dryer machines.
Thank you for this video! I've always had separate washing machines and tumble dryers, but now the dryer broke I'm thinking maybe a washer dryer combo might be a nice idea, plus extra space in the utility room!
I absolutely love having them separate however my dryer recently gave up the ghost & my property is incredibly small... Admittedly where it was it was a massive fire hazard so I think im going to get a washer tryer however not sure if I'm going to like only getting half the laundry done at a time 🤦
For me it would be okay, now I can really do all my laundry that I need to do anyway because of hanging space. Now I'm constantly waiting till my laundry is dry before I start a new laundry..
Washing machines harbor a great deal of moisture, and vibration is par for the course; if you think washing machine are a good place for cheaply made expensive electronics, think again. I don't want a smart washer/dryer; and other than start the machine, I don't want to communicate with it, if it needs sophisticated programming to assist in troubleshooting, chances are there's not much I'm going to do about it. I currently inherited a a washer when I bought my home, and it contains a dial full of preprogrammed setting. Well guess what; other than normal, towels, and sheets, I have not used any other programs. And if the towel and sheets programs weren't there, I think I know how to set the water temperature to hot. I've watched half a dozen videos on the subject of washing machines, and which are reliable and affordable ($500-$600); everyone who attempted to answer that question provided a different answer. My guess is it depends on what they're selling. My conclusion is... there are no reliable machines at any price available today. Our grandparents had machines that lasted 20-25 years. To buy anything close to that today, you'll pay the price of a new machine, when you buy a used pre-2918 Speed Queen, and if you're lucky it'll be purely mechanical. If you find one, in good condition, it will have a lifespan left that will be longer than anything you buy today. And do you know why? Because manufacturers today believe that your money is worthless, and if you buy their products so do you. If everything you have is easy come, easy go, then have at it.
Does the durability stay lower even when you use the dryer occasionaly? Because I can't decide if I should get a combo or just a regular washing machine. I don't really need a dryer since I do line drying most of the time but I thought it might be great if I wanted to wear something directly out of the machine when I'm in a hurry.
Regarding your first sentence, if you mean does occasional use of the dryer result in it being less durable, I think that the opposite will be true. Something that is little used will last longer. Don't buy a washer dryer if you expect it to dry clothes quickly. You will be disappointed.
I found this tutorial very helpful I change my element today a little bit of smoke that came out of it is that normal and a few screws left over could you tell me if that's normal
You may have a little bit of smoke from the dust on the element if it's been stored somewhere for sometime but apart from that it shouldn't smoke. Also if you have changed the element you shouldn't have any spare screws around.
I was considering getting a washer dryer machine, but I have read quite a few comments that mentioned poor reliability. These units seem to not be as reliable as traditional machines, the dryer functionality and durability seems to be especially poor. With this in mind, do you have any advice or recommend a particular brand over another?
You can find that reliability is not as good as it doing the job of 2 appliances, so it won't last as long as a washing machine on its own. If it is reliability you are looking for, then we always recommend brands like Bosch and Siemens
Great video and very informative. I am considering purchasing either the Miele WTR860WPM washer dryer or the Bosch WDU28569GB (?) washer dryer on the right in this video. The Miele costs £2000 and the Bosch costs £1000. Both washer dryers have very similar offerings, with Miele (it seems) edging ahead of the Bosch ever so slightly in terms of features and performance. However, there is a large price difference between the two. What are your thoughts on the differences (price, performance and features) between the two?
Must admit we don't normally stock the Miele model so it is probably a little unfair to compare it. If the features and spec are very similar then i would go for the Bosch all day long as these are great machines anyway, especially if it is half price.
@@lords-electrical Thanks for your response. I appreciate you don’t stock the Miele. My confusion is more about performance rather than features and specification. Because, for example, the Indesit shown in your video has quite similar specification and features to the Bosch shown in the same video, however they are very different prices (Bosch is a high end, and Indesit is lower end). So the reason for the price difference must come down to brand name and actual performance, I am guessing, rather than specification? I guess my question, in short is, is a significantly more expensive washer dryer (the Bosch) expected to perform much better than a significantly cheaper one (the Indesit) if both have similar features and specification. If so, how is that performance difference measured or quantified to cause such a huge price difference?
Are washer dryers better these days considering buying one as I had one years ago and it was brilliant when it broke I replaced it and the new one creased the clothes beyond ironing, so what I need to know is do they still do this or not, I cannot find any information on this subject thanks
We bought one last year and I love it. We had a washing machine and tumble dryer but our house is so small we had to have the tumble dryer in the living room. When our washing machine broke last year, we got rid of the tumble dryer and replaced it with the 2 in 1 in the kitchen. We only wash and dry one load a week, very rarely two. So its absolutely perfect for me and my partner 👌 Wouldn't recommend them if you have a family with kids where you need to do a lot of washing because they do take a long time to wash and dry and you can't load as much in them.
Hi, I recently bought a 2nd hand washer/dryer and the clothes have a strange musty smell after using the dryer. The load size doesn't make a difference to the smell, I've dried 1kg and it smells the same. When air drying the clothes they smell fine. There's no sign of mould in the drum or draw and I've ran 2 drum clean cycles with a cleaning product I bought. What could be causing the smell? I read on a forum that it could be dust on the heating element that needs cleaning.
If the drying side hasn't been used, then yes it could be a build up of dust on the heating element. Hopefully after a couple of drying loads, the dust should have gone. Also make sure you leave the door open to air and dry after each washing and drying load as this makes a huge difference to musty smells in appliances.
We're just about to buy the Haier i-Pro Series 5 HWD100-B14959S8U1 10kg Wash, 6kg Dry, 1400 Spin Washer Dryer. We live in a flat thus the reason for going for a washer dryer. We might be using the dryer a few times a week due to not having a lot of space for laundry racks. What's the best way to use this to avoid condensation and mould build up please?
I am here in 2023 to seek advice on which brand I can get. I want to start up a laundry business... also can I also just get one machine or since its a business I need two machines. Please advise
I’ve just brought a Bosh washer-dryer and found the fast (1400) spin speeds really crease/screws up the clothes even on long small loads. Very disappointing after my cheap Beko lasted 9 years without this problem. Am I doing something wrong?
Technically they won't be too different, but you should always find that the performance and efficiency will be a bit better on separate dryer compared to a combined washer dryer
I would need to put the tumble dryer in our garage, so taking your advice I’m looking at condenser ones. However, the energy efficiency seems to only go up to B. Is this an issue ? Should I still be after an energy efficient model that is A+?
I don't think that any tumble dryer will be rated A+ for energy efficiency. The combination of a heating element, electric motor and absence of insulation means that they are inefficient. Condenser dryers also use water to condense the moisture from drying the clothes in the drum.
Having to replace 6 year old AEG 1600 spin w/d.. New machines are generally too deep for space unless we go for a 1400 spin model with a small volume. Any thoughts please?
Can someone tell me why my wahser dryer sometimes wet my clothes at the end of the drying process? When i take them out most of them are bone dry but the bottom clothes are literally wet, not just damp. It's like the machine wets them at the end.
I was looking on google about washer dryer combos and it said apparently you need a different wall socket because a normal UK Socket isn't powerful enough, Is this true? It's the only thing stopping me from getting one. I ain't saw on any videos anyone mentioning that they have diffrent plugs than a normal washer
Great video, I thought it through and I can't use one that's a combo, my outlet for the dryer is on one wall and the water is on another. Really would have liked the combo I'm assuming they will auto dry after the wash so if you forget at least the clothes don't sit wet.
Washer dryers only make sense if you don't have space. They only dry small loads take a long time to dry expensive and they suffer alot from blocked condensers and fans failing when it comes to washer dryers your mum was right dont buy one.Consider buying a dehumidifier instead modern dehumidifiers have drying modes for washing.
Put some clothes in a carrier bag or box, then use bathroom scales to weigh the container with the clothes, then subtract the weight of the empty container. Luggage scales can also be used if you haven't got bathroom scales.
the thing is i dont know what size of loads are. i just fill my washing machine up and not too packed and switch it to the 59 min cycle. i have a hoover dynamic next 8kg washing machine and want to upgrade to a washer dryer thats 9-10kg
It is always a difficult one to gauge the weight of the washing, but i would always say make sure when you are loading the appliance that you have allowed plenty of space for the clothes to rotate and move around during the washing process. If you cram it full, then the performance of the wash will not be very good.
Thank you for the video, I think you talked about the most important points to consider before buying. We are actually just looking for a washer dryer and like you said, there are a lot of them on the market. Especially when it comes to LG it is really hard to tell the differences between each model. Is it possible for you to do a review of a LG washer dryer? Preferably a 9/6 Kg model? There are some good offers for them here in Germany, but I don't really know if you can trust LG's quality. Especially in comparison to a Bosch model for example.
@@hellotjesmellowtjes9791 As for Bosch, may not be fair as my mom's experience was a top load. She regretted her choice after her first hands-on use of this PowerWave model - foremost the design Again like I say above comment likely not fair, as not washer dryer
Mould is caused by moisture in the air which condenses on cold surfaces encouraging the mould to grow. I don't see how a washer dryer will solve a problem with mould.
From my own experience, an individual washer + a heat-pump dryer is the best. I won't consider a condenser dryer anymore cuz I have had a bad experience with it.
i dont see a heat pump dryer being very convenient year-round for people in more temperate or cooler climates who dont need their dryer to cool their space. im concerned that i heard those are ventless as well. i'm not sure how well it could collect and trap lint, but with my traditional vented electric dryer, my basement is still insanely linty already from all the lint spillage. i cant imagine if some of that wasnt already being pushed outside by the vent for indoor air quality. whats your experience with lint and what climate do you live in? is your dryer in the house or in a garage or something?
If you have a washer dryer then after the drying cycle has finished you should just need to put the clothes away in the cupboard as they will be fully dry.
I'm currently looking for a washer/ dryer combo, I've read numberous reviews of mutiple hotpoint units that have very poor drying performance, whats your views on this?
On any washer dryer, the drying performance can be poor if there is too much wet washing put in there. The performance will always be better if you put half a load max in the machine to dry.
Just a couple of questions: what capacity drum (in c.u and kg) would you need to wash and dry a king size comforter/duvet effectively? Also what depth should the washer-dryer be so that it sits flush with other standard sized base units. I’m fortunate to be able to buy my washer-dryer before we select our kitchen design.
Great vid thank you ! Beware all the fluff from the dryer stays inside the machine ( no filter ) and in my experience can block the hose. anyone else have this probl? Would love to know if the less expensive brands are any good if I don't need a large load? there is a big price diff. so wondering if Candy, beko, Hoover are any good ? What about noise, how can I find out the real noise level ? Thank you
That's a big issue with me. I just replaced my 5 yr old LG large capacity washer dryer after the drum failed and no spare parts were available. I went with a LG Wash Tower (two separate units that are stacked) and I can do twice as many loads as the old unit in the same amount of time. The old LG large capacity washer dryer unit was a pain to clean after each use as there is no lint filter (only a drain filter at the bottom). The lint would solidify behind the door gasket and would require removal of the door gasket periodically (not fun). Also, the drain pump failed after a couple of years as well as the interior light. The 3 to 4 hour plus cycle time to wash and dry a load of clothes was too much. I would not buy this type of unit if your household has more than two people. The backup of dirty clothes is cumbersome. I can do one load of clothes with the new setup in less than two hours. Well worth the switch.
I do atleast 2 cotton washes and 2 loads of drying a day ,had a Beko washer dryer replace my 20 year old indesit and had endless issues , repairs and burnt out within months. Have since had an aeg the past 5 years , runs smooth , quiet and it’s still going strong. In terms of the lint , although time consuming the only solution is running a quick wash cycle after each drying cycle which is what I do
I live alone. My dryer is literally the cheapest dryer I could find in 2013 and my washer (a simple one) has died. Since I am alone, I won't have a load of washes. A washer dryer is about 200 cheaper than getting a washer and a dryer. Would I fit within the target audience here?
Yes it sounds like you be ideal to have a combined washer dryer, but i still think if you have the space then it will be a better option to have 2 separate appliances
You wouldn't normally need it, but being a washer dryer, the water will be connected anyway. If you don't need the washer side of it, then i would just buy a tumble dryer instead.
It won't normally weigh the clothes, it will send a certain amount of water through at the start of the washing program, and depending how much is saturated, it will determine the load size
Must admit i have seen some of the models but not tried any of them or had any feedback, so wouldn't really be fair of me to comment as to whether they are any good or not.
Really depending on how many washes you are doing and how many people in the house. Don't forget on large load machines, the depth of the machine will be greater which can make a difference. Also larger load machines can put a lot more stress on the bearings as well.
Wifi is a huge gimmick. My mate has blocked his washing machine from the network because it was uploading 4GB of data a DAY 😂😂 lol. Even when it wasnt on or being used.
Some manufacturers used to make 1800 spin, but it puts such a load on the bearings that the machines were unreliable. Onb the whole 1400 is more than enough now to extract a good amount of water out of the clothes.
I just bought a front-load GE Steam Washer and Dryer. It does not dry even after a whole day. Waste of my money and time. This was a 110 volt one sold in the US. Do not buy.

Thank you for this video! I've always had separate washing machines and tumble dryers, but now the dryer broke I'm thinking maybe a washer dryer combo might be a nice idea, plus extra space in the utility room!
Washer dryers are very good, but i would still recommend to keep them separate if you have the space.
@@lords-electrical thanks for the advice, I might look into some stackable options
Yuu
Hotpoint are bringing a new washer out soon would love to see you do a video about it. It's H7 W945WB 9 kg at 1400 spin.
0:48 What a washer dryer machine does is it washes the clothes, then drys them.
I also need to know, what does a toaster do?
And a kettle.
Nothing better than an idiot's guide IMO. They often attract comments from some prize idiots as well.
I would always recommend if you have the space to go for a washer and dryer individually rather than in 1 unit.
Regarding your first sentence, if you mean does occasional use of the dryer result in it being less durable, I think that the opposite will be true. Something that is little used will last longer. Don't buy a washer dryer if you expect it to dry clothes quickly. You will be disappointed.
Great video i happen to find before my purchase. Thank you
I found this tutorial very helpful I change my element today a little bit of smoke that came out of it is that normal and a few screws left over could you tell me if that's normal
This is some great info on combo washer-dryers
Glad it was useful for you. Thanks for the feedback ☺️
I appreciate you and the information you shared in this video.
@@i2mee I just bought the Bosch, Which magazine gives it an excellent review and a Best Buy rating.
you don't talk about ventilation, that is what I needed to know
Question I have is how the Hotpoint integrated washer dryer is cleaned? Thank you for considering my question
So its absolutely perfect for me and my partner 👌
Wouldn't recommend them if you have a family with kids where you need to do a lot of washing because they do take a long time to wash and dry and you can't load as much in them.
clothes including undies, towels, tea towels, and sheets all in one load?
Which machine did you get?
Thanks for the video, as soon as you said we would need to half empty the washer to dry, it made the entire product idea, unfit for purpose.
Would love links to the two washers you show in your video
Very informative.. Happy New year 🎉 got so much from your simply elaborate clip, thanks load!
We're just about to buy the Haier
i-Pro Series 5 HWD100-B14959S8U1 10kg Wash, 6kg Dry, 1400 Spin Washer Dryer.
Please advise
can you not choose to dry them in the machine ?cause i like to hang dry swell sometimes
Yes if you want to use the washer dryer as just a dryer then that is normally possible.
@@lords-electrical I meant if u can use it only as a washer or does it automatically dry them
Sorry, yes you can use it as a washing machine only if you want to on each model, just select the drying time as 0.
I’ve just brought a Bosh washer-dryer and found the fast (1400) spin speeds really crease/screws up the clothes even on long small loads. Very disappointing after my cheap Beko lasted 9 years without this problem. Am I doing something wrong?
You had a Beko nine years without catching fire?
what is the drying results compared to a single dryer?
Technically they won't be too different, but you should always find that the performance and efficiency will be a bit better on separate dryer compared to a combined washer dryer
i find that the normal dryer we had before made the laundry much MUCH softer than the washer dryer does!
I would need to put the tumble dryer in our garage, so taking your advice I’m looking at condenser ones. However, the energy efficiency seems to only go up to B. Is this an issue ?
Should I still be after an energy efficient model that is A+?
10:15
I don't think that any tumble dryer will be rated A+ for energy efficiency. The combination of a heating element, electric motor and absence of insulation means that they are inefficient. Condenser dryers also use water to condense the moisture from drying the clothes in the drum.
Having to replace 6 year old AEG 1600 spin w/d.. New machines are generally too deep for space unless we go for a 1400 spin model with a small volume. Any thoughts please?
You are correct that a lot of washer dryers with larger loads like 9kg and above are quite deep compared to smaller load machines.
How much water do these use on the dry cycle what with the condenser?
Can someone tell me why my wahser dryer sometimes wet my clothes at the end of the drying process? When i take them out most of them are bone dry but the bottom clothes are literally wet, not just damp. It's like the machine wets them at the end.
I was looking on google about washer dryer combos and it said apparently you need a different wall socket because a normal UK Socket isn't powerful enough, Is this true? It's the only thing stopping me from getting one. I ain't saw on any videos anyone mentioning that they have diffrent plugs than a normal washer
You can just use a normal wall socket for washer dryers as it is a domestic item. If it was a commercial appliance then that would be different.
@@lords-electrical brilliant, thanks for letting me know
Great video, I thought it through and I can't use one that's a combo, my outlet for the dryer is on one wall and the water is on another.
Really would have liked the combo I'm assuming they will auto dry after the wash so if you forget at least the clothes don't sit wet.
Very clear video, thanks!
how can we clean filter in washer dryer machines? The one where lint build up?
I can't find a lint filter?
But you can just use dryer when you can't dry clethes outside!!!!!!!!!!! Think just think
Hi What's a good intergrated washer dryer to buy now. Brought a Haier one but dryer not good so returning it now. Thanks
We do well with Blomberg as a good compromise of reliability and price
Washer dryers only make sense if you don't have space. They only dry small loads take a long time to dry expensive and they suffer alot from blocked condensers and fans failing when it comes to washer dryers your mum was right dont buy one.Consider buying a dehumidifier instead modern dehumidifiers have drying modes for washing.
A dehumidifier is not needed
The moisture is self contained and only a bit of warmth will warm up the room the machine is in
A lovely review! Thank you so much!!
Got a new washing machine & this video was a great help. How do I know the different weight of the clothes..
Put some clothes in a carrier bag or box, then use bathroom scales to weigh the container with the clothes, then subtract the weight of the empty container. Luggage scales can also be used if you haven't got bathroom scales.
Which of those two use heat pump? Thanks?
the thing is i dont know what size of loads are. i just fill my washing machine up and not too packed and switch it to the 59 min cycle. i have a hoover dynamic next 8kg washing machine and want to upgrade to a washer dryer thats 9-10kg
You can’t fill a washer dryer. Use the scale and reach the max for the program you use. If it’s too much before drying you have to remove something.
I'd love a video about egg boilers, because we never seem to be able to boil our eggs just right...
You're possibly the most boring English man in England, hugely impressed

How do u know the amount kilogram for dresses u have in for example how do u know the dresses you putting in is 6kg
It is always a difficult one to gauge the weight of the washing, but i would always say make sure when you are loading the appliance that you have allowed plenty of space for the clothes to rotate and move around during the washing process. If you cram it full, then the performance of the wash will not be very good.
You can put the dresses in a carrier bag and weigh them on either bathroom scales or luggage scales.
So that’s my question? It says 6.0kg however we don’t know actually if it is 4.5? Or 6.5? So what happens if you try to wash and dry more kg!?
Why not just get two washer dryers if you have room?
exactly - main advantage of a washer dryer is set and forget / one less job to remember to do.
Dont trust LG, I got a washer dryer brand new, broke in one week after two washes and drying. Go with bosch especially here in europe
@@hellotjesmellowtjes9791 Haven't used LG before, in fact any of their appliances. Almost got LG fridge, but in the end Samsung "won" ; )
@@hellotjesmellowtjes9791 As for Bosch, may not be fair as my mom's experience was a top load. She regretted her choice after her first hands-on use of this PowerWave model - foremost the design
Again like I say above comment likely not fair, as not washer dryer
It was worth the watch!
Very soothing voice, cheers
i could only dry the clothes in my flat, what could cause mould in the flat. So yes i need a washer dryer.
Does it dry the clothes dry dry... or will I still need to hang
If you have a washer dryer then after the drying cycle has finished you should just need to put the clothes away in the cupboard as they will be fully dry.
Super job.
May be a silly question, do washer dryer require an air vent pipe to the outside?
Not a silly question at all. No they don't all they do is use the waste pipe from the washing machine for the moisture air to exit
@@lords-electrical my washer dryer on dry only number one has bit switched off at the end
At least 13kg capacity.
I'm gonna buy it😊
Interesting but when drying where does the water go?
If it's a condenser dryer then the water normally collects in a water container at the top of the dryer.
thank you for the tips
Which is better Samsung or Bosch?
Not really a lot between them but we sell a lot more bosch appliances. We find the after sales service from bosch is better as well.
Hi what you think is better eletric cooker or gas cooker
Always a personal opinion but a lot more electric cookers are sold now especially in new build properties where there is no gas feed available
@@lords-electrical I mean reliability long lasting
Good man. 👍 great advice
Very informative
Do I need water supply for the drying cycle?
You wouldn't normally need it, but being a washer dryer, the water will be connected anyway. If you don't need the washer side of it, then i would just buy a tumble dryer instead.
Does it actually weigh the clothes? What happens if you put more than 6.0kg in the dryer mode?
It won't normally weigh the clothes, it will send a certain amount of water through at the start of the washing program, and depending how much is saturated, it will determine the load size
Any experience or advice With latest AEG With heat pump technology? 2021 models
Must admit i have seen some of the models but not tried any of them or had any feedback, so wouldn't really be fair of me to comment as to whether they are any good or not.
If I've got a choice between 9/6 kg or 10.5/7 kg Washer Dryer, which should I go for?
Really depending on how many washes you are doing and how many people in the house. Don't forget on large load machines, the depth of the machine will be greater which can make a difference. Also larger load machines can put a lot more stress on the bearings as well.
@@lords-electrical 2 adults. Sounds like you'd go towards the 9/6kg machine

How many minutes to dry clothes? For electric dryers
Really depends on the moisture content and the load size you are trying to dry?
Have one love it!
This should be your last option.
PS.Don't get any Hotpoint,Whirlpool or Indesit in general.
Please, elaborate about the Indesit brand.
Wifi is a huge gimmick. My mate has blocked his washing machine from the network because it was uploading 4GB of data a DAY 😂😂 lol. Even when it wasnt on or being used.
Can I get a 1800 spin or 2000 spin speeds
Some manufacturers used to make 1800 spin, but it puts such a load on the bearings that the machines were unreliable. Onb the whole 1400 is more than enough now to extract a good amount of water out of the clothes.
Super channel!
Thanks very much 😊

Washer dryers are bloody awful. They don’t actually dry and when they do the permanently crease the clothes!
