Hi Pete from Australia again. Just started watching the upload and heard you mentioned the dos automatic dispense system on the Miele. As you know I've been a tech for over 20 years and guess what system fails on the miele washing machine with automatic dispense system. Yes it's the dispense system. The common fault is it starts to leak causing flood fault error. The customer can still use the manual dispenser draw but if I've paid big dollars for automatic dispense why would I use it. Just thought I would let you know. Customers actually trade in their Mieles because it's way too expensive to repair when they can do it manually. LOL. Luv the channel. Pete from Australia
My old LG washer dryer combo is 16-years-old and it's still going strong. I never had a problem. I just decided to replace it with a brand new LG washer dryer combo. I put the old one outside for my pet washing, and it works beautifully.
Great informative video. Would you be able to post the part/model numbers of the Miele washer and dryer? I want to make sure I purchase the correct units you reviewed. Thanks !
Skip the Miele go with AEG if you really want European.Just saw the review from LG with a teardown that thing looks really well built..Review was done by that Maytag guy
Great video. You mention Bosch needs a refresh, but isn’t the Miele now ~4-5 year old design? Also curious if Miele would bring the combo unit available in Australia to the US.
We bought two sets of Miele washer/heat pump dryer last year and love them. The machines will tell you what you need to do. The biggest thing is to learn how to operate it and do the filter clean and other maintenance.
@@YaleAppliance1 absolutely. We bought a couple spare plinth filters so when we remove one we can immediately replace it while we clean the other and are letting it dry. The “system” works out well. I believe y’all may have told us that might be a good option, and it has been 😊
Only thing I’d like to mention is the higher rotational speed during the spin cycle of the smaller Miele washer does not always equal a higher centripetal acceleration when compared the larger slower spinning drums of the GE/LG combos. This is keeping in mind they are both in different classes since we are compare dedicated to combo units. I haven’t done the math, but a 1300 rotational speed on a 5 cubic foot unit could have a higher centripetal force than the higher speed 1600 rpm of the 2.4 cubic foot Miele. Kind of like comparing apples to oranges, but it’s important to remember when comparing the small German units currently on the market versus any newer larger models from any manufacturer.
@@YaleAppliance1 What do you own now? I have LG and they've been great for 15 years... But thinking of eventually replacing them with Miele. I have a Miele dishwasher now after never hearing of them. And I really like it. Also, the Miele might fit nicely in my primary bedroom closet, which would be very convenient.
The Dutch Consumer Reports actually test residual moisture weight of clothes after spin. Miele 1600rpm (in 9kg /20lbs drums) is way always on top of LG and Samsung (even with bigger capacity and similar specs) and only a little better than Bosch/Siemens (BSH group). Keep in mind a bigger load drum will also generally contain more clothes so more water. But in the tests they equal this out to same loads.
My Dyson, and my parent's Dyson failing for 2 completely different reasons are why I got a Miele vacuum. Miele is why I watched this video; as our GE washer is unrepairable and our Whirlpool dryer is about to die.
Looking forward to the Bosch but wondering about the Miele washer and the capacity. Can it handle a King comforter? And I was told that the cycles took longer than other machines. True?
Sorry but on the problems I noticed on heat pump units and condersor dryer is.the lint will always find a way to the water waste system that activates the pump to transfer the water to the dispenser draw for removal. The float gets jammed with lint. Even in the Bosch units . All the best Pete
I have the GE Ultrafast, I’m now averaging 3 hour run times and at the end clothes are still damp. The lint filter trap is flawed, there is blow-by at the rear of filter and allows the lint to get past and accumulate in the heat pump condenser fins. I really wanted this system to work as it frees up a lot of space in a small laundry room, but it doesn’t work.
Thanks again! Still would appreciate more detail on the LG heat pump washtower…. How is it that lint isn’t a problem with it if the dryer is ventless, it has coils, and just uses a standard lint filter like vented dryers? I know vented WashTower’s certainly let lint into their vents, so wouldn’t the heat pump dryer in the WashTower let lint past it filter to gum up the coils, too? I get and agree with the notion that the WashTower with heat pump dryer would have an advantage over the WashCombo from having a larger dryer to let the clothes from a smaller washer have more room to tumble dry. But, does the heat pump in the WashTower have any more power or heating capacity than the one in the WashCombo? If not, why does it require a 240V/30A circuit while the WashCombo needs only 120V/15A?
Good questions.....washers remove lint as it turns out. So the WashTower doesnt have the issues of the combos. The WashTower has shorter cycle times as well. We will have a video comparing both soon.
I've had a LG combo for a month now. Yeah, the coils will grab some lint and you need to clean them probably every 10 loads. It is very simple and takes a couple mins. Even more importantly, this unit just creates less lint overall. Like along the lines of 15-25% of what you are used to. It's that significant.
Heat pumps normally have 2 or 3 filters, 1 filter like normal that needs cleaning every time you empty the dryer and the others just require being g cleaned once a month, this helps keep Lint out of the rest of the machine
Thanks. Looking forward to the video. One question, though, about the statement “washers remove lint”…. If so, then wouldn’t the combo units also remove lint during their wash cycles and flush it out of the drain with the water just like a standalone washer does-before the dry cycle even starts?
Thanks for this review. If I may give constructive feedback, it was sometimes hard to discriminate which unit you were talking about, especially in the all-in-one review, which brought confusion.
Maytag Neptune brings back memories and not all good. My son is still running our old units and I cross my fingers! Thanks for the informative review. I hope other Mfgs jump into the all in one units. Like the GE but lint and drying seem to be issues
I have a 10yr old Asko washer and 16yr old Asko Condenser dryer. The Asko absolutely beats Miele, both for washing effectiveness and also being gentler (something which Miele places absolute emphasis on). My Asko machines are domestic units, primarily used at home for personal use but I often launder hotel linens (kitchen towels, bed linen and table cloths) during busy periods. I have purchased both a Miele Professional washer and dryer for use at the hotel and whilst great machines (very expensive)… they do not compare to the quality of the domestic Asko units, the Asko machines simply do a far better job in terms of washing ability and build quality. The Asko units have stainless steel inner & outer drums, spins at 1800rpm, perform better, and the build quality of the steel just feels superior. The Asko washer is definitely louder over Miele, but they also don’t have the rubber bellow seal at the door🤷♂️ The Miele Professional dryer has already required a belt replacement and (whilst completely unrelated) a mates 8yr old Miele washing machine has had to have the motor brushes replaced.
Great video! I really hope Bosch updates its washer and dryer in North America and gives us the European version that’s been out for over a year. The Bosch units sold in Europe have auto dosing like the Miele, look beautiful and are a fraction of the price. I hope they start selling their European serie 8 appliances here too. We get decade old ovens at premium prices instead… If not, might have to make a trip back home and freight over our new kitchen. Serie 8 accent line? Yes please!!

Interesting in America they don't have the newer models. they released last year in europe 2023 march or something similar the Series 8 is what it is called in EU. Dryer, dishwasher and washing machine. (The home connect version machines). Very stable
If your store sells Miele but does not know how to fix it, they destroy the unit. Happened on our 10 year old Miele washer where the washer cycle got confused so when you made a selection on the display, the machine did the wrong cycle. The repair man came, "fixed it by reprograming it," left and when we tried to use the machine it ran in half the time it used to - and did not work at all! They came back and said that is how it worked. Except now it did not clean anything. Tried a second place, they failed to fix it as well. So we are done with Miele. We bought LG because people near us know how to fix it and Miele only lasted 10 years. However, the compact dryer is still the original Miele which is now 22 years old but seems to be failing now so we don't know what to replace it with.
LG with wash tower with a trap door into the dryer would be the best of all worlds. Better than an all in one. Let me know when to expect the royalty checks.
My mum in the UK bought her second Miele washing machine a couple of years ago after being really happy with her previous one which lasted years. Nothing but trouble with it! Shame.
"15-20 years" life expectancy is terrible for a unit that sits in an air conditioned home. My Maytag Atlantis has been operating for 24 years and I just had the first failure. The water pump. Replaced and working again for 25.00. These Miele are 2499 MSRP. For that price and a unit made in Germany the life expectancy should be 30 years+. Also, I have seen a video here which states that the mobile connectivity is "not active on these units". Can you comment on which Miele have mobile connectivity please. Love your channel. I get all my initial research here. Thank you.
Are you seeing many issues with the Bosch 500 with Self Cleaning condenser or am I just the lucky one to get the lemon that gave up the self cleaning and now doesn't dry at all (even after running all night)?
