Wow!! What a cool tour. Super clean, organized, and hi tech set up. I would think that the concrete bridge adds some additional protection from the environment. Thanks for sharing!! Also, my phone has the exact same cracks in it. Tripped me out for a sec.
Thank you Kevin another brilliant factual video. Gosh I feel like I am watching a sifi movie lol. I wonder if it felt weird for Kevin to be standing in it. Honestly I don't know how I feel about it, I am a ludite though lol. I can see the money potential as long as it's an addition I suppose to growing anything in fields as I love to see this and we need it for nature etc... I hate to sound thick but everyone keeps telling me not to buy peat as it's bad for the planet (I have not taken the time to research this myself). Here they use peat moss pods I'm not sure if that's the same as just peat, so I wondered if anyone could help me as to whether this is good for the planet as a growing material. Very thought provoking and interesting video thanks again for showing and educating us about this. Take care Natalie 😀
It did feel a bit sci fi in there! Peat is an interesting debate, many people say it's unsustainable but there are compelling counterarguments as well. It's still an active debate
Cool. I’m assuming calendulas because they can be sold for more than lettuce. How much power does a system use? All those Watts and BTUs. Can it draw it’s power from an urban grid and still make a profit?
Why put your PH sensors in the panels with the peristaltic pumps and not in the tank itself? Are you using OPC-UA with an SQL database to store to a cloud or an MQTT protocol and storing logged data on a local server?
Great idea for urban farming, but I have a few questions? Being in Boston, how are the plants hardened off for outdoor delivery/planting? And with vertical gardening, how does gravity play into the plant development?
Love ur videos. I get great ideas about how to keep my plants happy. But Plz help how do I keep the green house warm during the winter it getting a little cold here in Texas 40 F to 50 F nights .. and I have a little green house with my tropical plant tht i dont have room for inside the house . I try to look for solar power heater and lights but dont know which one is best.
@@epicgardening That's right in the ball park that I had in mind. Too bad they can't make something that more affordable. I sure could use something along that line. Live 6500ft. along the Rocky Mountain front. Very short growing season. This year we had 3 mths.
@@gbridger9177 Hi! We have a few farms in the Rocky Mountain area. Most of our farmers see an ROI within 2-3 years. Let us know if you'd like to learn more :)
Only issue with freight farm is their monthly fee they charge you to run the system. Thats not including the loans you took out to purchase the container farm in the first place
Hi! There is no monthly fee to run the system! Perhaps what you're thinking of is our annual software subscription which-while helpful-is not required to operate the farm. Also, most of our farmers see an ROI within 2-3 years of purchasing the farm.
@@lucyluke9468 Hi! We suggest budgeting about $1,000 a year for maintenance. Power consumption for a Greenery ranges from 150-165 kWh per day. Would you like to learn more?
I love the technology but it saddens me that we have to resort to cubicles like this in crowded urban areas instead of being able to spread out and use natural sun and land.

This is pretty amazing - and it's placed in the middle of a concrete jungle on the outside :) I'd love to see it when filled with plants.
I'll have to go back!
Thanks to Dave for the great tour and to Kevin for bringing it to us. 😎😎😎😎
Glad you enjoyed!
This is awesome! Should be getting more views!
Gotta love the sirens in the background
This was interesting. I do container gardening; but, not shipping container size.
You and me both Donna!
Just as a fun comment, I am actually in talks with them to get one! I want to start my own business and this is right up my alley.
Just amazing 👏 😍 🙌 ✌
Interesting concept, those look like ZipGrow Towers, in a group..
Epic indeed!!
YES!
this is so cool! great video

Great to see where this tech is heading. There will be pests sooner or later, I'd be interested in that research.
Shall do!
I want one.

Yup! The math is quite good, especially when growing high-value crops like calendulas close to processing areas
I want!!!
Really cool & perfect for extreme environments, but what a capital outlay! I think I'm going to stick to the old school way ;)
Spectcular . Can you tell me how much it costs for the set up in the video and where can i get more info .
Amazing use of technology. And the phone has a cracked screen.
fantastic

These are grown to harvest within the container, so no hardening off is necessary! Gravity will affect for sure..would be crop specific
What is the dimension of the container and how much energy is consumed?
How can I get one
This is so freaking cool
Are they planning to grow and come to New York ?
They have units in NYC!
Epic Gardening really! Let me treat them out :) thanks 😊
I prefer soil farming, still a cool project though.
Agreed!
You just ruined my day.
The cost of the container and maintenance please?

Lights may be best as they'll help extend the season by warming it up as well as adding more light
@@epicgardening thank you.. which light would be best.
No plants?
It was literally JUST delivered so all of the calendulas were starting in the nursery section
Wow! What's the cost of that set up?
Quite pricy! $100kish

Definitely trade-offs to all choices, would be v. hard to build it all yourself

Can you grow weed in it?
How much does one of these cost? And how much do You pay for rent
The future of Weed.....
Yeah, but applications for hyperlocal perishable rare produce too
Randy Cox i use leds check out my videos let me know what you think thanks
Hmmm...looks like a farm you might see in The Matrix.
Exactly!
im suprised u dont got one on your epic house 🏡...?...😬
dem apocalyptic timez
It's faaaar from new. They've been selling for 7 or so years.
This is the first look at their absolute newest model
I hope i can pay a fee and learn this technology
I love the technology but it saddens me that we have to resort to cubicles like this in crowded urban areas instead of being able to spread out and use natural sun and land.
So one unit cost 85000 and 8000 to 16500 to maintain. Profits are only half of what it produce.
Unnecessary over-engineered system making it prone to malfunction, high energy consumption and massive price.
