If you are using the wiring from your old doorbell (not another brand of "smart" doorbell), you won't need the chime controller. In the app you can select "Mechanical" and it'll ring the doorbell that the old button rang. In my home we have several Nest Minis and they ring if the "Digital" ringer is selected.
@@KLP99 hi, I have a Wyze Doorbell v.1, linked to Google Home. I don't see this feature in Google Home but would like it. Any tips on setup of this feature?
Very well done video. The little blinking Android robot was a nice touch. I laughed when it got to the point where you referred me to another video to do the pairing. LOL That part was what I needed most, esp with regard to the extra chime module. Not my first doorbell but I do think this one is exceptional, esp for the price.
In the instructions it says that failure to install the chime controller is not recommended and will void the warranty. And, a few videos say not to bother with the chime controller…Not sure who to believe.
No. This is just a doorbell. The same company, Wyze, does offer a smart lock/ deadbolt as well. www.wyze.com/products/wyze-lock-bolt?app_title=Wyze%20Lock%20Bolt&app_share=true
I'm not quite sure on my fuse box which switch goes to my doorbell so here's my question... can you still remove & install door cam without turning off the power? Like don't touch the two wires together kind of thing?
Chime controller installation depends on if your chime is two or three wire setup. Follow instructions in the Wyze App. After properly installing my indoor chime was not working, until I enabled indoor chime in the App. Many people have removed the chime controller because they didn’t know they had to enable indoor chime in the App on their phone.
If your breaker is not labeled, you will have to turn off one by one. As you turn off each breaker, take note on which outlet, lights, etc it turns off so you will know next time.
Yes, two people can use the same app for the doorbell. My wife and I both use the app on our separate devices. You can either pay for a subscription which is a monthly fee, or you can buy a MicroSD card for a one-time fee. I prefer buying the microSD card so I am not relying on another subscription service.
Thank you Scott for taking the time out to answer my question. I was told I can use a 128 MB but for better recording time a 256MB. So I will install today and reply how it goes.
If you have a doorbell button outside your house that receives power, then you can use this. It doesn't have a battery, so it needs a power source. There are doorbells like this that run on batteries if you need one. If you meant you don't have the bell inside your house, then no worries because it will ring your phone when someone is at the door .
That's correct. Every smart doorbell also comes with a chime attachment if you want to use your existing chime. I prefer to have it run through my app only.
So where the hell is this little black chime box with 3 wires going???? I have an existing doorbell “classic style” in the house. Do I need this black chime thing?
@@mrmichaeltscott I was confused as hell at first but I got it done. I did everything HOT without kicking power cause kids are home and didn’t wanna listen to the cries with power off. It went well. Chime is super easy to do.
Hello, I would like to ask you a question. What was the voltage on your existing doorbell? My old doorbell system is 12V, and I see that the specs for the Wyze Video Doorbell V2 show a requirement of 16-24V. I understand that the Wyze device is powered by a rechargeable battery, but I feel like the 12V of my system will not be able to keep the battery charged to operating standards.
Either of those would work just fine. The larger card will just allow for playback from further back. Meaning it may allow for playback of a month rather than 2 weeks per say.
Man the SD card needs to be hidden better especially for something the owner never needs easy access to anyway, meanwhile its positioned where someone could remove it reaching their finger on the side while pressing the doorbell, all with one hand... maybe put some strong tape over it.
I saw so many videos, but none of them were clear. I think your video was spot on showing everything and to the point. Thanks.
I'm glad you found it helpful. I appreciate the feedback.
Please include how to connect the Wyze Doorbell Chime Controller.

I'm glad you found the breaker. Although electro would have been cool!
What's the answer? I posted the same question yesterday😂

How does the chimes controller fit??
Ordered from Wyze and will be installing today. Thanks for the info! And the little boy is adorable!!! 🥰

@@ScottSwanson314 Awesome! I switched from the latest Nest wired doorbell to this Wyze option and I like it so much better! Thanks again!! 😊👍🏽
Is it true that I can use wyze cam OG as chime with wyze doorbell v2, wyze states that in doorbell v2 description, does anyone has this setup?

No. This is just a doorbell. The same company, Wyze, does offer a smart lock/ deadbolt as well.

No. Power must be off
Yes you can just did it today without cutting the power
Mine never turned on even though I have live wires connected

What do you do if you do not already have a doorbell? I purchased it to BE the doorbell since our house did not come with one.
Good question. I would recommend the wyze wireless doorbell which doesn't require existing wires.
Does it have to be connected to a doorbell, I don’t have a doorbell can I still use it
You don't need a prior doorbell, but then you'd either need to run electrical to it or buy their wireless doorbell.
How do you figure out which breaker is for the doorbell?
If your breaker is not labeled, you will have to turn off one by one. As you turn off each breaker, take note on which outlet, lights, etc it turns off so you will know next time.

You didn't show the install of the chime.

Nothing about the wyze doorbell chime controller. About to send this thing back.

@ScottSwanson314 They had no directions. I sent it back. Read too many bad things and when I bought it. AZ said it was on sale and it's still $40.

There is no battery. This one wires in to your existing doorbell wiring hence no battery.
which memory card is useful for wyze doorbell? 128GB or 256GB?
Either of those would work just fine. The larger card will just allow for playback from further back. Meaning it may allow for playback of a month rather than 2 weeks per say.

No. There is no need for a subscription to get notified.

Yeah what a design flaw !
It is a stupid design.
I wish this had wireless bluetooth connected chime
I just ordered one shipped for $34
I ordered it on the 1st and got mine in today. They're slow to get the doorbell to USPS. ✌️
Why didn’t you just cover how to wire the controller to chime instead of telling us what we already knew…that the app will tell us.
First!!!!!!
Love it!

What is the point of this video if you don't show the entire process. I am not impressed with the Wyze app at all.
