    Me, in Texas wishing we had public land to ride on. My biggest thrill with my RZR is when we go to the coast. We ride the beaches and have a blast. I would LOVE to ride some of your trails. Great video, great family, keep up the good vibes. 👍

      Thanks!! Riding on the beaches sounds like a blast. Thanks for watching, we’re getting excited for warmer weather!

      Thanks. I’ve spent time on a sled so I get it. Plus there’s not a lot of places open to UTVs in winter, so if we want to have nice things, we gotta play nice.

    Nice work as usual. Very nice of you to express the importance of being curtious to snowmobilers. Not very many counties in our state offer the privilege of dual use trails. It only takes a couple of bad apples to spoil it for everyone. Nice to see you setting a good example for others. I've ridden these trails plenty in the Summer. It was nice to see it from your perspective during the Winter. Keep up the good work and hope to see you on the trails!

      Yep! My thoughts exactly. Thanks again, we’ll definitely be back to ride them in the summertime.

    I thought the trails were cool in WI until we moved to AZ. Hands down, AZ has 1,000x better trails. Endless public land and trails everywhere you go here, and far more beautiful scenery with FAR more technical trails. And UTVs are street legal here on every road except freeways. Just a fair warning: If you take your SxS to AZ and have someone to show you the trails, you'll end up moving here like we did and never regretting it 😎

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  Год назад +1

      Oh I’d imagine! Places with more, large tracts of public land usually have some great trail systems. Being fully street legal is nice too. WI isn’t bad but plenty of places you can’t get to.
      We’ll get down to AZ with our machine sometime. Thanks for the warning 😆

      @@TheNorthwoodsFamily most of this state is public land. And you'll find that most WI trails are basically more like "dirt roads" compared to the washed out technical trails here, especially when you get into any of the mountains. I've found a lot abandoned mine shafts in the mountains behind us.

    I always enjoy your ride videos, we usually don't ride in the winter as VT has no trails open for winter use.

      Thanks Terry. I don’t think a lot of places have winter trails. We’re fortunate to have a few here.

    There are a number of county roads in Marinette County that are open to ATV’s, certain sections are closed but many can be used by ATV’s and UTV’s depending on time of year and which township you are in. I ride in and through Marinette County legally on a frequent basis after doing a fair bit of research.
    Great video!!! We took our SxS riding in that area last winter with friends who bought a SxS in Early January. Make it there several times each summer also! This winter we are back on the sleds!!

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад

      Thanks! Yeah the town roads seemed to be for the most part all open - we have really good maps from WATVA / NM MOTORSPORTS. Where we ran into challenges was when we got to the county highways. Like you said, it looked like more were open in summer but a lot closed up in winter.
      Glad you liked the video! I’d love to get back into snowmobiling so we can explore more trails in the winter. Might try to get something together for next season. We’ll definitely be back to check out all the trails up there with the SxS this summer. Happy riding!

    Nice! You must have a great heater for your General cabin. Your kid-os seemed to be warm and content. I'm a warm weather guy and my 900 Trail has been under cover for several weeks now. I hope your repair went smoothly and without problems.

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily

      Thanks! Yeah the heater cranks out a lot of heat it generally works pretty good. Definitely helps the kids (well who am I kidding - us too) enjoy the colder weather rides.

      What brand of heater did you install?

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад

      It’s an OEM Polaris heater. It works great - aside from the windshield vent hoses which are either getting pinched or falling off the vents. Shouldn’t be a tough fix.

    Thanks for the video and the content! What kind of radios are you using for in-car communication? I'm picking up a G4 soon (hopefully) and those seem great for trail riding with the family.

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад +2

      Being able to talk to each other makes the riding so much more fun - especially for the kids in the back. I highly recommend some kind of intercom, one of the top things we’ve installed.
      Our system is from “UTV Com” the “S4S.” It’s a hard wired system so you everyone has a cable to plug in, but the nice thing is everyone can adjust their own volume. It also had an audio out jack so we could record our conversations direct to our video. It was a little more work to install, it’s not perfect but we’re happy with it. It also has a GMRS radio with really good range, FM radio and will Bluetooth with our phone for calls or music.

    So AWESOME! We have been debating on doing some trails in the snow. Are y"all ever going to get snow tracks?

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад +1

      Thanks!!! We’ve considered tracks for our Ranger - just for utility around our property cause once we get more than 8” of snow or so,
      it’s hard to get around. Unfortunately in Wisconsin tracked vehicles can’t be licensed as ATVs, so you can only ride them on private property :(

    Winching across the trails are why atv's and sxs are not allowed on our local snowmobile trails.

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад +1

      Yep, I understand why most trails aren’t dual use. But I think a lot comes down to education and courtesy. Fill in ruts if you get stuck, pull over and let faster sleds go by, etc.

  • @drexhawken8567
    @drexhawken8567 2 года назад +1

    I don’t remember did you get a heater? I just ordered one from everything Polaris ranger. They have a lot of part for generals. Wonder how hard it’s going to be to put in. Thanks for the video

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад +1

      The heater is one thing we had installed by the dealer so I can’t say how hard it is to install. I had them do it the same time we had the Ride Command installed. I need to do something about the hoses attaching to the windshield vents. We’re not getting a lot of heat up there. Otherwise it works great. You actually have to add some coolant to the system for it too, so it can help a little with overheating in summer.

      It depends on the state. Some states they are street legal (with a few requirements) except for the interstate. In my state, you can only ride roads that are designated ATV routes. Best place to check with your state’s DNR or DOT.

    Do you think it's necessary to insulate the roof panels? For both cold and hot weather?

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад +1

      I don’t think it’d be worth the trouble. I’ve spent a good deal of time in units with heat in winter as well as AC in summer. There’s always gaps even with hard doors installed.
