Hi Jessica, I truly appreciate your vlogs esp this one because it is proof of the history of my country pre-hispanic times and how it ties up with what The God Culture (Solomon's Gold Series) about the Philippines. Like you, I didn't grow up in my own country so as a TCK, I always wondered about the history of my country before Spain invaded us. There is nothing in our history books so I'm really grateful to bloggers like you and Timothy of The God Culture for such valuable (at least to me) information about my country. Mabuhay ka! ❤️

I am searching about this a few months ago, but I only found the one in the 1950's wherein filipino soldiers were sent to korea to defend it. But then you uploaded this video. Just... wow. Nice vid 😍
Thank you so much for your travel account. I’ve been to Gyeongju maybe four times but I’ve never been to the tomb itself. I miss the place. Imagine, Québécois poutine in Gyeongju!

I've seen the old observatory featured in Queen Seondeok! And yes! Philippines was mentioned in the drama because the two countries were already trading then. That was when Philippines were still in the hands of the Spanish colonists. I believe they were trading products that are more common in western culture. Yes the drama was about the first Queen to rule the Kingdom of Silla. (or second? -I not really sure coz I watched it a long time ago) I really was surprised to see that in your vlog! Queen Seondeok is one of my favorite historical dramas. Gosh! I'm fascinated to see this in your vlog! I didn't expect this! Allow me to flex, Historical is my favorite genre for K-dramas. Manila Bay was a popular trading port because it's a cove so ships like docking there to protect them from waves and storm surges. That is also the reason why Manila became the capital of the Philippines and Tagalog became the national language, even though majority of the population speaks Bisaya as their first language.

Hi Jessica, I recently did my Y DNA for my Father Filipino line of the family. I'm half Filipino and half Mexican American. When I got my results I was surprised to find I have Korean DNA mixed in with the results. I wondered where and when that DNA came from. I'm in awe of (and in love with) your Hanok architecture! Love it, so ornate and regal! Is this unique to Gyeongju? How would it have differed from the other regions of that era? Korea has such a rich history! ❤️❤️❤️ 9:39 Is it possible that you guys were served a version of "poutine", the Canadian version of the American "French" fries? It sure looks like you had cheese curds and gravy with your fries, which is how they serve poutine over here. Especially in Tim Horton's which was originally a Canadian coffee and fastfood chain. "Putin" sounds very Russian! Lol ❤️❤️❤️ 7:23 I don't remember much of elementary school history during my time in MNL , but I think we need to update the history textbooks (if they haven't already) to include this bit of knowledge. All I remember is we were taught that mainly Chinese traders came to the islands with some smattering of Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian, Arab traders etc coming and going before the Spaniards came. Cheers! ❤️❤️❤️
