I love that wolf. He is so chill. So calm and doesn't let the world get to him. And he always walks away with his dignity intact and even compliments droopy's comebacks and counter attacks.
He’s my favorite Tex Avery creation as well-just too cool. Droopy and Screwy Squirrel are close seconds.

I watched these since I was a kid in the early 1980's. When I am doing tedious work, I whistle that tune 'till this very day.

@@bulldogsbob That dang song has been stuck in my head for YEARS..if I'm not whistling it while getting groceries I'm whistling the Inspector Gadget theme..And these don't even come on TV anymore either sadly..they used to show it on Cartoon Network back in the early days with the Tex Avery Show iirc which was all Tex Avery cartoons for like..an hour or so. Tune's been stuck in my head since I was in elementary school since I was born in the mid 80's.

I live in Georgia, and there's a guy I know who lives right down the road from me who talks EXACTLY like that wolf. Same voice and demeanor and everything. He's a dead ringer for him. Every time I talk to him, that's all I can think about 😅Because of that, everything he says makes me wanna laugh.
He should learn to whistle the wolf's trademark tune.
Same here. I grew up around the Atlanta area, but quite a few country folks had this kinda accent around these parts.
Honestly whenever I hear a southerner it's hard for me not to giggle because there's been so many jokes at the expense of the "southern accent"😅.I suppose it's a bit unfortunate in a way since some southern folks probably don't feel like they're taken seriously due to their accent.
Georgia boy here. This is spot on. I can tell a Georgia drawl from an Alabama or Mississippi accent and this wolf is from the Peach state!
Dude I live in Philadelphia and used to hang at a garage and drink with a guy from down south who you'd swear was the wolf if you didn't see him. And he used the word ,man a lot when talking. Very laid back relaxed type guy,,I also used to laugh when ever HE talked because of this cartoon.

He's only a villain in SHEEP WRECKED (though more of an antagonist as he just tries to steal sheep). In other cartoons he's not.

Daws was the voice of Huckleberry Hound as well as countless other cartoons.
The two actually don't line up, but I can certainly hear the inspo in Huck.

The Droopy cartoons are, in my opinion, the only cartoons ever created that could rival the incomparable Looney Tunes. The reason being, that they were created by the fabulous Tex Avery. The great Chuck Jones once stated that he worked with the two greatest short animation directors that ever lived in Tex Avery and Friz Freleng. Avery's work with MGM is the stuff of legend. Our Pint Sized, Mild Mannered hero constantly outgoing his key adversaries Butch and The Big Bad Wolf. Only this Wolf ain't so big and he ain't so bad!! In fact, he's downright loveable. This underscores the genius of Avery that he devised a character that is so relatable. THERE GOES THAT DIRTY, ROTTEN SHEEP STEALING WOLF!! "NOT ME, I HATE LAMB." Whistling off into the Sunset. The classic not so BAD GUY you couldn't dislike if you tried. Just like the second best cartoons ever created. The Droopy Classics.

The 21st century has nothing to compare to the sort of animation and humor of shows like this, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, etc, and if you did not spend a significant portion of your childhood being entertained by these shows, you missed out on something really important. But it's not too late to watch all of it now.
