Happy Solar Eclipse day! That fort map is solidly good. That is indeed a weird teleporter to place in I to am not sure why they did though. 🤔Regardless, another fun video I see here. 😃

Happy Eclipse Day to you too! Haha I'm not sure what's going on with that teleporter either. Makes me wonder if it was meant to point to another room or something. But anyhow, thanks so much for watching man :D

Wow! This stormy weather is frightening, and that's not very good. It seems to happen when you released this video on a solar eclipse on the same day. Pretty dark and fitting. Nice one.

Pretty much the only thing I remember is the lightning strikes! Nothing else besides that.
Gates of Infinity by James Paddock is the MIDI used here, neat stuff!

I always forget this one's a Jimmy MIDI. Sounds really cool with all the crazy synth sounds and pairs pretty well with that electrified sky!

I’m so glad you play continuously; it’s super refreshing and it means you can just get stuck right into the action. With just about everyone else rocking the pistol start thang, it’s really awesome. 😁
I guess cos it’s a concrete compound but it reminds me of something from Return to Castle Wolfenstein for some reason; I really dig the cosy concrete stylings of it!

Exactly! I love being able to just crank out two good BFG shots right at the start of a map if a fight calls for it. It makes whatever WAD I'm playing feel like one big connected adventure too :D
Interesting point about RtCW - hadn't thought of it like that, but now that you mention it, it does seems to resemble some of that games later levels

This map looks amazing but it is underwhelming compared to the last few maps. There are revenants that just don't give you a break here

Even then, I feel like the central outdoor area in the middle of the fort could’ve housed a lot more enemies to make it a bit more overwhelming, but alas

The map does look a bit underwhelming compared to the last few that you've played. Still a fun video to watch of course.

Thanks! Yeah, I think this and the next one are probably the two most ordinary out of the bunch, but from Map18 to the end is where things get WILD

Yeah, Fort is forgettable, filler through and through. It has a decent start if you're pistol starting and have to run from the pinkie herd, but it has Plutonia syndrome - has a decently impactful start, but runs out of breath before the halfway point and basically limps to the finish line. Heck, by Lost Civilization standards, it doesn't even look like a proper building.
That said, because of that *_awesome_* skybox, I can say for sure no other map in Doom history accommodates a weather mod better than Fort. Try the Universal Rain & Snow mod (for GZDoom) set to heavy rain (thunderstorm) with extreme maximum particle effects and you'll see the magic. It's even better now that Eviternity II proved we can have weather effects in vanilla-accurate source ports, so GZDoom isn't strictly necessary for a weather mod either!
*EDIT:* That weird teleporter you mentioned at 6:41 is a crude anti-softlock measure by Jaska, in case you do a linedef skip to raise the tower floor or something. The exit from the central courtyard and the "control tower" locked with the red keycard share a floor sector, hence the crushed bodies and dead Manc up there.

Ohh that makes a lot of sense now! I noticed on practice runs there was something funky going on with that floor raising up, and I’d see that Revenant in the outdoor area instead of up in the building now and then. Thanks for pointing that out! Regarding weather effects, I’ll definitely check that mod out for rain and snow
