    Dave, what a pleasure it was to meet you today at Musclepalooza. The fact that I had just seen one of your videos a few days ago and then actually met you while you were talking to Tom Frost about his Green Mist '70 SS396 was astounding. That car was a magnet to us Code 45 Green Mist Chevelle owners. I love the fact that you come east twice a year from CA to take care of your elderly Mom's house. The world needs more sons like you! It's cool that we both have basically the same exact Chevelles. Can't wait to watch the rest of your videos!

      Finally made it back to Sunnyvale, Ca. What are the chances that three people meet at a car show owing the same color Chevelle? If we did not start talking and introducing ourselves, you would never know you were talking to the person making videos. Chances, in the billions. I really enjoyed talking to you and your wife. Like my Irish neighbor always says when we have a beer: " Good Health"

    You don't need to take spider gears out.. once you remove the axle retaining pin just push your axles in and the c clips will just fall out. Take the axle out and your good to go.

      I bought that in 1980 for $1,500 and I use it all the time. I am not saving it for someone else. Yes, it gets scratched some times but I just buff it out and it is ready to go. Interesting you identified it as a Submariner. Not many people know that. Good eye.

    Er..so i got this 70 lesabre. Was investigating metal on metal noise in the back. Figured it had something to do with my brakes.. my bearing seal had broke and my bearing was crushed. I was able to take out my axle without removing any clips with the bearing stuck on the shaft. Short of replacing the bearing..do i have major problems??

    • @davidlis6709
      @davidlis6709  Год назад

      They should be the same rear end.
      Didn't gear oil leak on the brakes?
      What about the other side, can you take out the axle with out removing the c-clips?
      Maybe the c-clip fell out because the bearing was destroyed? Video 4:25
      I would remove the cover and see what is going on, maybe the clip is on the bottom of the rear end housing?

    • @MrToolsinbox
      @MrToolsinbox 7 лет назад

      You only need to set back lash if you loosen or remove the pinion gear That is the gear attached to the drive shaft (propeller shaft). David only dissembled the gears in the rotating cage. No adjustments required.

      Go to Eric the Car guy and he uses a axle bearing pulled tool that he borrowed from the local auto parts store.
