    Just discovered this video. Contrary to many DIY canister filters, it's obvious this one has been throughoutly thought! Up to using a siphon as an inlet so it's easier to fill the filter. I have no problem believing it actually works in real conditions.

    I have made something like this for a pond. The blue pump of the hose though Is on the top. It's quite a big filter so it makes it restart it, if the water is drained.
    Since the water pump is out side it gives more room for filter media with a pvc going right to the bottom with an L joint and the out flow is from the top of the filter to create a water fall. It's a random DIY though but works well and serves the purpose. 🤣

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  Год назад +1

      It will depend on the quality of the container. If a very good-quality airtight / leakproof container is used, water will not leak under any circumstances. So before making the filter, you need to check that the container is completely airtight / leakproof or not, just like I showed in the video. Thank you 😊

    Hello Sir,
    Thanks a lot for posting this video.
    I watched the video and made the filter as it is (I have added additional fillers in it).
    Everything is working very fine. The water became crystal clear.
    But suddenly the power went off, and naturally, the output of the filter became off, as there was no power to the motor. But the input to the filter remained on because of the water pressure of the fish tank, and it slowly filled the filter completely and the water started to leak from the top side of the filter (from the lid), causing the water of the tank to drain completely.
    Kindly let me know how to stop the input of the filter when there is no power.
    Please provide a solution to my problem.
    Thanking you.....

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  Месяц назад

      In all of my DIY canister filter videos, I have consistently emphasized the importance of utilizing a genuinely leakproof container for constructing the filter. Additionally, I have advised viewers to verify the leakproof quality of the container prior to its use in the filter assembly. Numerous brands assert that their containers are both airtight and spill-proof; however, many do not live up to these claims. I have experimented with various brands of purportedly leakproof or airtight containers, but unfortunately, they all proved inadequate. Ultimately, I discovered a specific brand's airtight container that is indeed both leakproof and airtight. A link to this product can be found in the description.

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  2 года назад +2

      No, as the container is airtight / leakproof, it will not overflow when it is off. Also, there is no need to pump it every time you start the filter. It needs to be pumped when the container is empty / the container has to be filled with water.

    Is there anyway to make the tubes longer so you can hide the canister below the aquarium? custom piping with a valve maybe? similar to the eheim filter series

      Yes, you can use this type of flexible conduit tubing (Inner Diameter 16mm) - amzn.to/32qklJi OR 16mm I.D. garden hose - amzn.to/3qyPvG5
