You can tell what naturals David Letterman and Conan O'Brien are, that they can each take a 2 minute story and stretch it out into 9 while still making it hilarious.
Tre B I like both of them as people in comedy and as hosts, though you have to remember that they have a recital process before the main show when it comes to some shows

Dave us an epic storyteller. I haven't seen Conan enough to know of his prowess, but he's a genius (conan). just a huge IQ.
There's quite a difference. Conan actually took a two minute story and turned it into 9 (actually I think total run time was around 7 minutes) and Dave letterman's story was roughly 3 to 4 min.
Both are hilarious, but they tell two different perspectives in a 9 min clip about the same thing.

The best part is neither David nor Conan were asked about the horse. They just had to vent. And they both took almost 10 minutes.

Pretty well thought out joke, and Conan most likely knew it was. But maybe Conan has the bigger heart, since the horse is now getting massaged all the time, instead of being wheeled around as a joke.

Well I mean it seemed like Conan didn't know it was a joke at all; based on what he was saying to Stephen, it sounded like he thought of David Letterman as a role model.
So I'm not entirely sure, but maybe he was more sentimental than Letterman anticipated.

Conan tried to honor him by accepting his ridiculous gift. And I felt like he was joking about it in the Colbert's. But what Letterman did was very mean. May be it was the real Letterman.
