For anyone reading this, respecting the locals is a really important point. If I ever rock up to a ledge (even my own ledges) and I find someone down there I usually leave them in peace. It's a no brainer if you are a blow-in in someone's zone and you go down their ledge you need to be extremely respectful and not interfere with their fishing. Everyone has different styles and if you run down and start casting metals over the top of someone's live bait you prolly piss some people off haha! For me, I try to avoid popular ledges all together so there's no drama (especially filming for RUclips) and if i do find myself spinning with fisho's I give them space to do their thing and ask if it's OK to stand/spin certain areas etc. Most fishermen are super friendly and we all kinda feel like one big worldwide family that just loves the ocean and fishing, but you can also run into a few that have their spots and don't want to see anyone who's not a local down there (In this case, like I say in the film, it's best to avoid popular zones and go to places no one else fishes, skip the drama and get your own ledge). But as long as you're respectful you're not gunna run into any serious trouble and I've actually made some good friends meeting people who come down and find me spinning their zone, most fishos are good people who just love fishing.
I've been keeping logs of times of the year what are where I caught fish since I was 15 years old. I'm nearly 50 and that is one of the best things I think a serious fishermen can do. You give great advice Briggsy, keep up the good work, you are helping the kids who will be the future fishermen.
Hey Briggsy, I just wanted to say thank you, not just for making these awesome videos but for being a positive influence in the fishing community. In my local area there are lots of really toxic fisherman. People that try to steal your equipment, take drugs, get in fights and start drama both on the water and in our local facebook fishing groups. It's really cool to see some helpfulness and positivity in the fishing world again! Keep doing what your doing dude!
As someone that moved to Australia (Brisbane) 7 months ago from the middle of Canada (Winnipeg) I find these videos SUPER helpful! Congrats on 200k and I cant wait for the video explaining tides!
200k! Congrats man! You have upped my fishing game a lot, biggest change is learning your FG knot. Ive bent out huge hooks on 30lb braid and 40# flouro instead of always breaking off when snagged.
Great advice for new guys wondering how to get into the sport. Another thing you could do in addition to all the good points mentioned if you're going to try a new area you might try to work out a discount with a local guide your first time there because certainly their business is hurting from the pandemic but even if you have to pay full price you'll be getting so much information about fishing an area and new tricks and tips in a day than you'll find in a year searching on RUclips. Fishing report from Bali. Land based fishing is possible but not from public beaches as they're still closed. Charters are available with local traditional fishermen and some nice catches were had before the wind started blowing. August is mahi mahi season in East Bali but this year will be difficult for anyone wishing to come from overseas as the pandemic is still growing. Once we get the green light the fishing should be awesome because they haven't been under any pressure and even good catches should be had on the beaches. Cheers
So true Briggsy of your local area first and then using google maps to search for potential new areas along with keeping diaries of details (tidal movements, seasonal species, water-structural conditions, lures / terminal tackle used, time of year, etc...). If you are catching fish in any area ask yourself why, look around and take notes! Fishing and becoming a better angler is a life long pursuit and I'm hooked on that adventure. Virtually every species is a mystery puzzle to figure out but it's rewarding when you do. Cheers mate!
Briggsy - I think I’ve watched most of your clips and I have my winners and losers. I honestly think some of your earlier vids with voice over are very good, and better story telling than your newer stuff. This video, however, is in your top tier! I’m always searching for how-to videos for surf casting, and frankly, the information value of the content hits a ceiling pretty quickly. As you know, most of the content is “use this rig” or “use that product”. Here however, you get to the guts of why many of us run down to the shore of the briny deep to see what might be there. It’s wanting to know more about the world around us, and wanting to play the game! Well done on both content and the story told. Hope to get down there and fish with you one day! Salutations Jeff
Great series Briggsy I reckon another good point is to try to get a life vest or a rope rock cleats for grip for rock landbased game fishing cause those areas have un forgiving terrain & conditions , some times storms sweep in fast just common sense etc...
Briggsy inside voice is grrrravellyyy. Hah! All your vids in this series have been great. But, this one is packed with the most wisdom highlighting concepts that a lot of people won't even think of. Awesome job.
Awesome vid Briggsy! Congrats on 200k subs! Loved the drawings and animations, it really made the vid super engaging. Thanks for keeping the content coming bro!
briggsy!! I just wanted to say, thank u so much for creating these contents for us! I appreciate u making vids for us to enjoy! keep up the great work and continue to fish on!!! hopefully u see this message!
You’re exactly right mate in the Northern Territory I find spots by just google map then I make it a mission to get there by motorbike or by car by Bush bashing it turns out sometimes some of the best places to fish But with Navonyx the best sports normally the fish are uncharted
Dude thank you so much for these videos! I got the fishing bug recently... and I find your posts extremely useful 👌 I learnt the uni knot from you (your weird way of doing it) and also the FG knot. Very informative stuff ! Thanks mate
top info Briggsy :- you inspire so so much!!. i branch out from comfort zone a bit but need to do it more and learn fish habbits, times, tides etc. your vids just want me wanna get out there and do it. thanks mate. (i feel what your doing with the video editing is working too bro, its alot more involving for the viewer, to the point and entertaining, good job.
Hey Briggsy. Been watching for agesssss just haven't commented much. Super interesting bro, about the research on a new area (or even your local!). I used a couple of these techniques e.g. Navionics and Google Earth, general research, but definitely learnt a few things in terms of other research like forums and Facebook groups and stuff. Epic man thanks for sharing and congrats on 200k subs bro!!! 🙌😝🔥
Diary is a great idea, I've kept one for 6 years now, very useful to go back and see what you were catching and where on a year by year, month by month basis. Conditions also play a big part, be good to do an informational on fishing conditions as well as safety perhaps...
Congrats on 200k subs Briggsy! I've fished my home ledge now for 6 years and have caught a big Spanish and good mactuna even though the headland doesnt stick out far enough, water depth being 3m right off the point helps a little I guess haha. Keep up the great work mate yewww!
Am really liking this series Briggsy. Regarding google maps, I highly recommend ‘six maps’ it’s free and updated more regularly, with excellent satellite images. The interface is a bit clunky (it’s the govt after all) but the images are worth it. The Bass Angler (Penrith) regularly has your vids on rotation instore. Love your work.
Briggsy learned this the hard way, Tide swells make a huge difference ,For example I regularly fish a spot with submerged rocks and the tide swells totally change the type and the size of the fish,
Hey Briggsy this is sid from india, really love watching your videos, you and the rest of the morning tide group have been inspiring me for years. It’s because of you guys and hours spent on the rocks I was finally able to land my first big gt, barra and grouper. Thank you for introducing me to this awesome lifestyle and all the wonderful knowledge you share.🙏
Love ur educational clips !! I was exact in same position. Been fishing for long time n just started to learn from ur videos. Going up to Syd tomorrow to buy Demon blood and Spartan. Cant wait!! Already bought fcl tg190 haha
Highly recommend fishbrain the app. It’s basically a map logging + fisherman’s social media software. Post a pic and your info about the catch and the app automatically logs basically every weather, tide, moon, temperature, barometric pressure etc. info you can imagine. Plus you get to scout other people’s logged catches and rigs for each catch in different bodies of water and with the pro version you can see exact locations, depth charts and more
Briggsy got all the top tips aye?! So much to think about. Good luck guys! Listen to the legend and you'll hookup bigbig!! Take care brother!! Aloha!!🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Have you and the boys ever thought about coming up to the pacific northwest ( Oregon) and doing some river fishing? I absolutely love all your fishing advenchers. Keep all the videos coming.
My homezone is northern Germany. I can catch zander, perch, carp (big ones) and catfish. That's nice but incomparable to Australia or even the Atlantic ocean. At least I'll be salmon fishing next week in Denmark.
sweet vids love the series...suprise u didnt mention respect the locals!

Grady Browning wow that is crazy !

Briggsy’s the best human being ever.
As someone that moved to Australia (Brisbane) 7 months ago from the middle of Canada (Winnipeg) I find these videos SUPER helpful! Congrats on 200k and I cant wait for the video explaining tides!
Australia good migration
Briggsy bro your little doodles and your editing is so clean. Looks so smooth and doesn't take away from you talking.
Just bought my first decent medium setup and this is definitely my favorite series on RUclips atm, cheers
this is such an underrated video, I just did a trip to costa rica and this all rings so true when you're exploring new territory.
This is one of the best fishing channels I've found so far. Very new at this land based fishing and artificial lures thing.
200k! Congrats man! You have upped my fishing game a lot, biggest change is learning your FG knot. Ive bent out huge hooks on 30lb braid and 40# flouro instead of always breaking off when snagged.
Glad to hear it Mate!
