The vibes are almost the same, but that's just my opinion. I love both groups.
OP, I don't think this is what you meant to say, but I wanted to make it clear to whoever might see this comment: Solar participated in an evaluation of Purple Kiss and, after watching them sing and dance, told them that she couldn't really see anything that differentiated them from other groups she'd encountered throughout her career, then proceeded to give them individual advice. I think Solar was trying to emphasize the importance of having distinguishing points as a group, especially since RBW is a small company. She did not mean this in bad faith and went on to talk to the girls and try to empathize with the stress they were going through.
About the chorus, for a male that topline isn't as high but for a female it's slightly high already, for them to sing it one octave higher would be extremely difficult. But I'd say the the topline can have higher notes. The producer could actually change some notes and add higher notes very easily and instead of making the vocalists flip into their head voice for higher notes like you said, I also wished they had them belt more. And for swan being producer, it could mean she worked on the instrumentals of the song.
from what pd was saying i got they feeling they meant higher energy but werent quite wording it right? im not sure, but yeah youre totally right with that
Wait, I'm missing your logic here - the male vocal range is lower than the female range. So, it would be difficult for a male to sing this an octave higher - its not as much of an issue for a girl group like Purple Kiss..
@@YuKaKariyu while what you said was right, it's difficult for me to rn explain how pitches work for make and female registers in a comment like this. It's way more complications. So just know that males "generally" tend to have more bass in their voice. pd technically sang an octave lower than purple kiss members when it comes to pitch but it doesn't necessarily sound like he's singing an octave lower bcoz they have male vocals. The reason why I didn't mention it like this in my op is bcoz it would be difficult for people who are non musicians to understand.
@@YuKaKariyu they mean separate the two genders first. Males voices are already naturally deeper than girls. So, when males sing that part in their comfortable pitch they can easily go an octave higher because their voices are already deep so it’s not hard. Girls voices are generally higher than males so when they sing that part, if they go an octave higher by a female voice standard it’s much more strenuous because female voices are higher naturally than males.
The song is produced and composed by Kang Jiwon. The song was just composed by Swan for her trainee evaluations. The track was primarily produced by Kang Jiwon.
In terms of the vocals in the chorus, I have to disagree with you. I think the laid-back approach really fits the lyrics and message of the song, which is that Purple Kiss are going to enchant you and lure you in with their music. Because the act of enchanting somebody is typically a subtle process, I think it really wouldn't suit the song to have the members loudly belting throughout the song. In my opinion, the more low-key and smooth vocals work perfectly as they are. I really enjoyed your analysis in this video though, it was really interesting to hear your thoughts.
Aye, Yuki spit all over the mini album. She not just a designated rapper for a girl group, she a rapper rapper. She got that Soyeon(and others) 'factor that just slaps.
I'm so glad you talked about producing vs composing vs writing in this because so many k-pop fans literally do not know the difference between these jobs and it irritates the hell out of me. Or they think producing is more important than writing and composing when in reality they are all incredibly important to the development of a song and one can not be without the other.
“Swan, if you’re watching this, I’m fucking sorry, I’m not insulting you. I’m talking to your producers. Producers, I’m insulting you!” I can’t tell you how hard I laughed at this
I LOVE this debut, it's a mature/dark concept and I'm here for it, this and Pixy "Wings" are the two debuts that, in my opinion, stand up the most for me
For me this debut is kept in dark and sophisticated style. There is something with dart styled songs, cuz PIXY's debut song Wings is very dark and I really recomment to react to. : )
I can't wait to hear and see what they do in the future, they are almost perfect now and they are just starting, from now on the only thing left is go up and be better! they are gonna be BIG, I can promise you that!!
swan wrote and composed the song for her monthly evaluation, goeun is also credited for composing and wiriting. and ofc yuki wrote her rap. their main producer is actually one of secret and bap’s producers. kang jiwon. he also produced can we talk again.
For me, this song can't be listened once as you will be shocked what tf you've heard (in a good way) been binge listening to this song and that's when you really get the vibes of it.
idk the technical terms in music but all I know is I love what they did in this debut. Like from other groups maybe almost all groups they release title track with upbeat, loud or high tone and this song proves that a music doesnt need to be like that to be called BOP. This song balanced the dance, rap and vocal element of a music and that enough is alr a bop.
i feel like a lot of things are...not rushed but really fast in kpop. as soon as a company introduces a new group, everyone gets exited and yaaay a new group and hopefully it will come out asap and stuff but rbw and purple kiss really surprised me. they did it way more smoothly with the two pre debut songs and now this unexpecting type of debut. i feel like i know these girls for a decade, they seem to be really comfortable around each other and in front of the camera, they exactly know what works for them and what works for each other, the harmony between them feels really good and naturally. rbw made their fans and their group get to know each other without taking the surprise for the debut-vibe, thats really interesting and cool tbh. i wish them all the best for the future, im looking forward to it!
kang ji won is the lead producer in their album. he arranged almost all the song in the album. sure, goeun and swan composed this song with him, but hes the one arranging it.
PD, you once again speck my mind! Here is what I think MIGHT be why they didn't let Goeun & Swan sing higher, the producer of this album, Kang Jiwon, is in facte not from RBW. I was actually shocked when I saw the credits, cuz I believe this is the first time EVER that rbw has a non in-house producer incharge of their artist's album! And from what I could gather, Kang's recent collab with rbw preior to this album, was only 1 song he wrote for Moonbyul, Weird Day, and Monster for D1verse, that's it. So it could be that he isn't as familiar with the possibilities of their voices... And so even though the songs are great, the producer may have held back a little on his vocal guidance. I considered the possibility that this is because rbw wants to make sure the girls could sing well in live, while dancing. I'm sure it's part of it, but I don't think that's the main reason. The MR was pretty layered on their showcase, a bit more like Oneus, so they're not going for the Mamamoo/Onewe way with plain MR. (which is totally fine) And Rbw's songs, I feel like, have always been produced in a way that explores the limit of their artists' vocal ability. They do tend to play safe on certain aspects when promoting their artists, but almost never vocally. So that's my thought. I actually like the idea that they hire a new person for the job, certain elements in this album feel fresh, compare to the others works released by their artists. (And if you don't know by now, I listen to all the artists from this label, even Vromance.) Which is nice, bringing sth new to the table. And so if Kang is remaining as Purple Kiss' main producer in the future, I look forward to an improvement on the first comeback.
I got it. Most people feel like this is a comeback and it´s just their debut., the beginning of the era. I am really looking forward to what this group might bring in the future.
This was a solid debut, and combined with their pre-debut tracks, gives us a taste of what they can achieve. It is laid back, and I agree about the chorus. Yuki, though. Incredible. As others have pointed out, her rapping in Korean is intense, given her original language is Japanese. Really looking forward to their follow-up achievements.
Interestingly enough, this was never supposed to be a title track. Swan said she wrote this as a training evaluation song. Goeun and Yuki also participated in it later.
This is what reactions should be and look and sound like. Pure 100% honesty and analysis of the music. Not just liking every aspect of what you listen to for the sake of pleasing viewers alone. Thank you so so much for this.
Truly excited to dive into this group. Your opinions and explanations make me feel good about my decision to spend hours of my life getting to know this group.
to clarify, giving more of a "context of use" of the Word, that is supposed to be "Ponzona (ponzoña)", more than a Venom, is more used as a reference for something that is contagious and that "corrupt" things, not exactly venom.

To be honest I'm agree about if the note of the chorus is higher it will give more impact, but at the same time I love the song as it is because this is their debut title track, I'm sure RBW is trying to show the audience the color of the members' voice more. 13:23 yeah this is true, same goes for the choreographies, following the seventeen example (my ults, such icons, i hang from that one bc is the ones i know the most of) they sure write songs and also produce them, but whe you read the produce credits its not woozi alone, is woozi + bumzu and often also with people from prismfilter, for the choreographies they work generally with a choreographer (well yeah) that i dont remember his name but he was one of the trainers in produce 48, they dont do all alone, and this applies to every group, even if woozi is ussually the one that determines how he wants the vocals (as shown in the videos they upload about recording) he is often seen with bumzu talking about how it would be better, seventeen videos give such a good peak into what is like producing an album or just a song to begin with
now that you said it, i think skz are the only self producing idols that have no other in house producers in most of their discography. since debut, it's only been 3racha except for a few songs. it's normal to have company producers participating and monitoring the song making process.

True..the chorus sounded the same throughout the song dissapoints me a little..i was hoping for more belting and change it up a little 🤔
@@YuKaKariyu while what you said was right, it's difficult for me to rn explain how pitches work for make and female registers in a comment like this.
Hrmmm interesting
Also, Ponzoña means Poison so it makes sense that it's low-key
Aye, Yuki spit all over the mini album. She not just a designated rapper for a girl group, she a rapper rapper. She got that Soyeon(and others) 'factor that just slaps.
Soyeon vibes
@@glentam7970 not Soyeon but more of Hyuna, Yeun and moonbyul Soyeon is pretty different than most idol rappers including males
@@prachijaiswal3784 but I hear Soyeon in her rapping. That’s just my ears.
this was one of the strongest debut songs I've ever heard in my life!! the concept, the vocals, the choreography, the vibes... IMMACULATE!!
Some people forget that this is their debut lmao. There’s alot of things that they don’t want to show us yet. Support PURPLE KISS!
Producers, I’m insulting you!” I can’t tell you how hard I laughed at this
i feel like it'll be really interesting to see pd co-producing a kpop song
Yes!!
I’ve been told I would do better at A&R
@@formoftherapy do both, If I had it my way I'd pair you up with all RBW groups and BlackPink and Ateez I really see you with them
their whole album is a bop
That beat drop is just amazing, never heard something like that in kpop and I love low heavy beats in general so it is such a gem to me
I LOVE this debut, it's a mature/dark concept and I'm here for it, this and Pixy "Wings" are the two debuts that, in my opinion, stand up the most for me
For me this debut is kept in dark and sophisticated style.
I wait to see them like blackpink . When it come 😢
swan wrote and composed the song for her monthly evaluation, goeun is also credited for composing and wiriting. and ofc yuki wrote her rap. their main producer is actually one of secret and bap’s producers. kang jiwon. he also produced can we talk again.
little note: Ponzona, which at the end is spelled correctly as ponzoña, means poison (it's in Spanish) which is repeatedly mentioned in the lyrics!
This song balanced the dance, rap and vocal element of a music and that enough is alr a bop.
this debut was amazing! definitely the best debut song i've heard in a while
i feel like a lot of things are...not rushed but really fast in kpop. as soon as a company introduces a new group, everyone gets exited and yaaay a new group and hopefully it will come out asap and stuff but rbw and purple kiss really surprised me. they did it way more smoothly with the two pre debut songs and now this unexpecting type of debut. i feel like i know these girls for a decade, they seem to be really comfortable around each other and in front of the camera, they exactly know what works for them and what works for each other, the harmony between them feels really good and naturally. rbw made their fans and their group get to know each other without taking the surprise for the debut-vibe, thats really interesting and cool tbh.
i wish them all the best for the future, im looking forward to it!
kang ji won is the lead producer in their album. he arranged almost all the song in the album. sure, goeun and swan composed this song with him, but hes the one arranging it.
Honestly what I like best about their entire debut (mini album included) is the amount of member contributions.
Ponzoña means venom/poison in Spanish.
so, you are that "someone" we are expecting hahah
I've heard that panzona means 'venom' (a kind of poison) in Spanish
Edit: It's ponzoña, not panzona! my bad
Careful there, ponzoña does mean venom in spanish, "panzona" is a woman with a big belly or pregnant jajaja
@@heit6185 oops, sorry! thanks for letting me know!
@@alicekalis9086 Lol your edit was wrong. The issue is that you said pAnzona not pOnzona
@@lunarzephyr6949 okay, I corrected it now!
Ponzoña* Be careful panzona, means "fatty" and it's kind of derogatory.
their bsides are also incredible i cant wait to see where they go with this group
this!!
I really liked Can We Talk Again
This was a solid debut, and combined with their pre-debut tracks, gives us a taste of what they can achieve. It is laid back, and I agree about the chorus.
Yuki, though. Incredible. As others have pointed out, her rapping in Korean is intense, given her original language is Japanese. Really looking forward to their follow-up achievements.
Yessss I was waiting for this
Interestingly enough, this was never supposed to be a title track. Swan said she wrote this as a training evaluation song. Goeun and Yuki also participated in it later.
No. She said she wrote it as an evaluation song. Goeun and Yuki participated later
@@exessen1684 Thanks for the correction, I edited it
This is what reactions should be and look and sound like.
I can already feel their potential, I was around when they were 365 practice and I love them right away
now we just need PD to react to PIXY
Omg yes
I loved their debut, it was perfect!
Can We Talk Again is still my fave B-side in this album then Skip Skip
Same, these are bops!
to clarify, giving more of a "context of use" of the Word, that is supposed to be "Ponzona (ponzoña)", more than a Venom, is more used as a reference for something that is contagious and that "corrupt" things, not exactly venom.
i love your videos cause it's not just empty compliments but honest one + constructive criticisms
Purple kiss and Stayc are my favourite next gen girl groups
I agree to you PD.. they do have really good vocalists that can hit high notes.. nevertheless still liked the song though..
Hahaha. For me, this song feels so good and super cool. I was so happy and super excited. But I understand of you. The songs on their album were just amazing too. The good news, they coming with all members version on My heart skip a beat. I just freaking love them.
Yayy long awaited😌 i waited for this video even before their debut
PD - Will we get an Reaction to PurpleKiss 2nd predebut song?
Can We Talk Again
also manifesting the pixy reaction 😩✨
one of the best debuts I have seen in a while! I'm excited for their future and wish everything good for them ✨
Yesterday Cherry Bullet, today PURPLE KISS Thank you very much for the videos Plz see youha - abittipsy you will enjoy it for sure ...
Ponzoña = Venom
Ponzoña is a spanish word, and when I saw this debut has this name for me it was like: this song will destroy me... I really like Purple Kiss concept and I love PD reactions too!!!
NOT ME EXCITED EVERY TIME PD DO A REACTION VIDEO😍
Yuki has written the lyrics of the album and other members too. I’m so proud of them and their debut !! However watching you PD in shock was great while Yuki’s raps because that was my same reaction. Purple Kiss went beyond my expectations and I wish them to be ROTY.
i have to say tho, i didnt really like ponzona at first but it really ages like fine wine, now i can truly appreciate how amazing their debut was (plus they composed and wrote it themselves) also i feel like ponzona is the calm before the storm
I’m rooting for them, and hope they become rookie of the year. Thank you for this video!
They just debuted so I think they choosed to keep their vocals in the comfort zone because in music programs they sing live
To be honest I'm agree about if the note of the chorus is higher it will give more impact, but at the same time I love the song as it is because this is their debut title track, I'm sure RBW is trying to show the audience the color of the members' voice more. Ponzoña is amazing in moderate way, it's not too much. But well it's my personal preference 😊 STAN PURPLE KISS 💜💜💜💜
I never knew that Pd will post his react so fast, omgg thank you pd!
totally agree with your notes about chorus
Still love this debut tho
My only criticism of the music video is that I had to look at the comments quite often because the frequency of the flashing lights made my head hurt, but overall I really liked the song and their vocalists are great!
Totally agree! I like the song and love the concept, but wished that the chorus somehow hit just a bit harder. But that's just my personal opinion. Still a dope song 👌
It does feels like we need more hype during the chorus!
Waaaaah I've been waiting for this !!!
PURPLE ON THE TOP 💜💋
I CLICKED SO FAST , STAN PURPLE KISS
Yes! I've been waiting for your reaction for this ♥️♥️
YESSS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
I just discovered them, I really like them so far.
So PK have sold 12,4k copies of their debut album in a 1st week, it’s the best result from all rookie girl groups 2020-2021. Well done, girls, fighting!!!
Even tho she didn't get that much screen time or lines, Ireh is already my bias, she caught my eye in the predebut projects and in this debut she secured it!! Gonna keep my eye on this group for sure
Jieun with that spider background. Ugh that did something to me for some reason
their album is really good too!
I think this song does a good job at making you want more Purple Kiss
Waaah i thought i'd have to wait at least a few more days, thank you pd :)
To the whole production/taking part in the songs thingy
Swan wrote all the Lyrics for Ponzona for a trainee evaluation exam
Dosie is indeed taking producing classes
Chaein/Dosie/Ireh are all taking part in the creation of the choreographies (those 3 did the My Heart Skip A Beat choreo by themselves)
this song was actually made in their trainee days, with yuki go eun and swan making it
Yess I've been waiting for this video!!
I agree that the vocals could have been more impactful but still a good debut
