    I apparently said Pledis in this video? I meant to say BBC 🤦🏻‍♀️ I filmed this at 4am so I’m sorry my mind was a bit frazzled. Same with watching the MV on 1theK. I usually watch MVs on the artist channel but I just rushed to what YT suggested me -.-x Apologies! This is why I usually take time with videos to properly prepare and not make mistakes like this. Sorry guys! I’ll just wait next time 😭

    *As an Indian, the fact that they explicitly stated that the song was Bollywood inspired in the description box really warmed my heart. PTT did not just add certain Bollywood-esqué sounds here and there as a touch up, this was a full on bollywood song for sure with all the elements that makes it special (which they used in a non stereotypical way) and Indians who are not familiar with kpop would think this song was from a high budget Bollywood movie.I hope this comeback somehow reaches my country and trends because my people do love when foreigners embrace our culture and use it, especially in art forms. Loona never fails to reinvent themselves every comeback. I'm impressed. Might as well be an Orbit ig*
    The only drawback is the lack of Vivi and Gowon screen time and lines. Hoped they would do something about it atleast this time. Aside from that, this comeback was a 10/10 in my opinion.

      @Maya-np7hr 3 года назад +325

      @@jdizelle28 Hello, Desi person here! My view is that they're very clearly appreciating the culture - it'd be appropriation if they were using it purely for aesthetic purposes, but clearly they've taken the time to understand the culture and incorporate the instruments/stylistic features of our music in their song and MV, which is brilliant and an amazing way to appreciate our culture :)

    • @LadyNarcissa
      @LadyNarcissa 3 года назад +209

      @@jdizelle28 yes, when the credit is given, and certain elements are used to show respect and show something foreign to your own people it is appreciation. The reason why people on the internet go and play "cultural appropriation" police it's because they don't know what it is, but it's a hot click, seems sth important so the rage starts, makes you look wise and educated. But when you don't know what you're talking about you don't seem educated but a clown.

    • @aneetababy1559
      @aneetababy1559 3 года назад +158

      @@jdizelle28 I too do not find any appropriation of my culture in this comeback. They did not add in any unnecessary stereotypes and really took full inspiration from Bollywood music - they also state the different types of instruments used that are also used in most Bollywood songs. This is my opinion, and I'm not speaking on behalf of all the indians and if someone in my community does not feel the same , then that's completely valid. Unless some non Desi person try to hate on loona and cancel them by saying it's C. A without giving proper reasons( if they have done their research and really know what they're talking about then that's fine) as if they're our spokesperson because that's really annoying

    As an indian orbit I can say that this was heavily inspired by Bollywood/indian music. It was written in description too. The big drum is also known as "A Nagada" in india which is heavily used in many different cultural traditional events. Heejin always felt burden cause she have the most lines but she can't do anything because it's not her call to make so if you wanna state an opinion atleast understand how others feel about your words cause loona likes to monitor everything now and even jinsoul said most member follow a lot of orbits account on youtube and read comments. @@dhu2071 I agree to a certain extent. Yes, the music still has to feel "right" and natural (the best people should sing the most lines), but what's the point of having a 12 member kpop group if certain people are being ignored? Especially since So What, ViVi and GoWon could've just as well left Loona and it wouldn't have had an impact on the 'art' you mentioned. This is not how groups should work.
      Also ViVi and GoWon are popular because they get so few lines and screentime (kind of reverse psychology effect).

    • @leticiabastos6245
      @leticiabastos6245 3 года назад +3

      This feels like a 9Muses situation in a way: the group concept wouldnt make sense in the lore they've created if they didn't have 12 members, which might justify them keeping Vivi and Gowon even though they aren't getting the lines or screentime they deserve. In 9Muses, the main problem was the name: when members left due to the mismanagement and abuse, their company simply replaced them to constantly keep the 9 in 9Muses relevant. Just something I remembered-

      Wasn’t aware Digipedi has sent them that, but you’re right. The way BBC have lacked in promoting Loona in the beginning can highly be blamed on Jaden Jeong and his obsession with having a girl group being “unknown, mysterious” or whatever mumbo jumbo he had going on, so we missed out on a lot of MV’s (performance versions, b-sides) and general dance practices outside of Heejin’s Vivid and 2Jin’s I’ll Be There up until YYXY. it’s a huge mistake on BBC’s part though, not releasing what Jaden kept from us. if we got more than 1 comeback a year or so, and saw them more often (and not just Heejin and Chuu), then maybe they’d see more success

    LISTEN UP,
    AS AN INDIAN WHOSE GROWN UP LISTENING TO RETRO BOLLYWOOD AND MODERN BOLLYWOOD, HERE IS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY.
    IT SLAYED.
    DAMN IT.
    SONG OF THE MILLENIUM YA'LL.
    The starting sample of the vocal chop is a Punjabi/North Indian onomatopoeia for an Indian traditional string instrument. And its the underlying melody.
    The percussion sounds a bit different than drums right? Its because of an Indian percussion instrument called the Tabla that has a higher pitched sound.
    The sudden string adlibs out-of-nowhere are a feature of Indian ballads lmao.
    The chorus draws from the bollywood idea of making things grand, the post chorus, is by far my favourite part.
    The flute and the string sounds in the bridge is also a critical feature of bollywood dance tracks damn.
    YOU COULD SAY IF THIS WAS RELEASED IN INDIA, THIS WOULD BE VIRAL-
    IT HAS ALL THE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF A PERFECT BOLLYWOOD DANCE TRACK-
    YA'LL LOONA DID IT AGAIN, And this is my favourite title track by them.
    (Sorry Butterfly and Why Not-)
    Choreo - On point. LOONA and choreo, doesnt need an explanation, does it?
    Concept - CRAZY and GRAND
    Issues - The CA surrounding it could have been avoided.
    WHERE THE FUCK ARE GOWON and VIVI'S LINES?!
    AND WHY WAS HASEUL TREATED LIKE A SUB VOCAL AGAIN-
    Okay, I'm going to revisit the lore for now-
    BYE AND PAINT THE TOWN YA'LL

    Things I noticed:
    1. Right at the beginning when Kim Lip is standing on the pedestal you can see that there's a blue ring above. Blue. Jinsoul? We do see Jinsoul at the very end on that same pedestal so could this be a hint of something? The glass is also half shattered but idk how to tie that in with any theory. Also if I look closely, this first area now seems like it's covered with trees outside. Is this around a forest? Yeojin's forest?
    2. We then see chronologically Chuu, who is also on that pedestal surrounded with flowers, Vivi, Hyunjin, Olivia Hye and Gowon. Hyunjin has yellow clothes or something all around her. There's also this thing she's holding idk what it is and yellow smoke is coming out of it. Also I think Hyunjin is also at the same place as the pedestal if not on top it. There are tree branches and stuff behind her and it's giving me ritual vibes for some reason. Another thing, this is about Hyejoo, the wolf hat she's wearing is white and there's a wolf skull on it. I found that kinda interesting.
    3. In the group dance part you can see that the glass isnt half broken anymore and only two doors have curtains, the rest are open and light is shining through them. You can see this all very clearly at 0:35.
    4. We then cut to Olivia and now there's only one door that's lit, the rest have curtains and have red light. Olivia is on the pedestal hitting a drum or something idk what that exactly is. Interestingly she is inside of a fire ring. And there's someone who we see around/controlling fire. Haseul.
    5. Then we see another room that recurs a lot of times. Right when the prechorus starts there's Kim Lip. This is the same room with that had the mannequin wearing Yves' solo debut dress btw. Anyway, you can see a yellow book on the floor and a mirror on the wall. Since Choerry and Hyunjin are associated with those things(Hyunjin's color and Choerry's mirror) and we know that they are opposites in terms of colors. So I thought it's interesting how we see both of their symbolisms in one shot.
    6. We see Chuu on the pedestal during her part of the song and it seems she's reaching out. More on this later.
    7. Then we have Haseul! 0:57 there are wings on fire behind her. That's the first instance of fire being related to her that we see here.
    8. 1:02 Jinsoul is in the same place where we saw Lippie during her part. Something I'll point out now is we see this corridor sort of area and that big area where Eclipse was shot as the main two rooms. I feel like the corridor could be a way of transportation to the big area since we see the OEC members mostly here. We see other members too but the OEC members stood out in this aspect to me.
    9. 1:04 first of all, you're welcome for the wallpaper(/j). Second of all, jinsoul is surrounded with mannequins. And this gives me egoist vibes as well as that one scene in why not where Olivia was rapping and there were other people around her. This looks like that kinda.
    10. Skipping over a bit. We see all OEC members with not only their colorful rings in their eyes but their entire irises glowing with their own colors. They're also surrounded with their individual light rings. Well except for Lippie. She has LED light sticks behind her. Choerry and Jinsoul have rings. What could this mean?
    11. 1:49 we see wolf prints and then Hyejoo but there are people around her... protecting her or obeying her almost as she beats the drum? In Why Not there were people around her that had glowing eyes like her, and now these people here. Could they be her own little army or followers?
    12. 2:06 Heejin in that corridor. There's an orb flying to her and several others already flying around her. We see more of that in a bit and those orbs are in fact planets revolving around her. She is looking at Earth as well so maybe the corridor is in fact a place of transportation? Also the planets circling her gives off two meaning to me. One, either she is the sun or two, she is the moon. I say she is the moon because of the first & teaser where through the moon is circling the earth it seems as if all the planets circle the moon.
    13. 2:30 Yves has crystal clear bubbles or orbs flying around her hand. Then Chuu still reaching but it's snowing(I think). Did she make it snow? Then Choerry and she has those flying orbs around her hands too.
    14. 2:49 Kim Lip is releasing a black hole(?).
    15. 2:56 the wings behind Haseul arent on fire anymore they're now shining green and Haseul is creating fire with her hands.
    16. 3:02 the scene cuts from Heejin to that of the teaser and ig Heejin does represent the moon after all.
    17. 3:04 Chuu also has Earth revolving around her. Is she the sun?
    18. Oh. My. God. You can see the Earth outside at 3:15
    19. I didn't think of it til now but in all of the places where we see the red sky doesn't it look like they're on the moon? I know there wouldnt be a sky if it's on the moon scientifically speaking but I'll ignore that fact.
    20. At the very end there's Jinsoul putting her hand back from a reaching position and she's on the same pedestal and environment where we saw Lippie at the beginning.
    So what could all this mean? I believe that all of loona poses some kind of power now. Well maybe not all of them but we see a good amount of shots where it looks like they're controlling some element or something. We know oec have odd eyes. We see Yves controlling orbs or something. Heejin has planets around her. Haseul can summon fire. Chuu seemed like some nature goddess with the flowers and snow around her. Olivia I think also has some kind of power but idk what. But I think she is calling for war or doing some kind of warning. The burning thing in so what. Her army of red glowing eyes in why not. Now people who seem to obey her and beating the drum. Clearly she has some plan. Anyway I've been on this for an hour now I'll stop this long comment here.

Kim Lip and Jinsol are in their solo debut outfits at the end and in the Butterfly / Eclipse temple....choerry is also standing half in and half out of one of the mirrors she uses as a transport between worlds. Usually with reaction videos I focus on the person reacting, but I couldn’t take my eyes off the video. Even though I’ve already watched it so many times, I don’t want to miss a thing. There’s so many little easter eggs, with the girls old outfits behind them, to the reference to the symbolism with the colours/animals, and even the corridors looking like previous solo sets. It’s a masterpiece. I think my favourite part is Haseul’s part in the bridge. It sounds like something from a musical, or Disney (in the sense it’s ethereal and beautiful) and I love that she came from snowy Iceland in her solo to now coming back shrouded in fire, stronger than ever. I’m so happy for the girls. They deserve everything good.

    As a Desi I really love this song and the inspiration they took from Indian culture and Bollywood. It makes me happy to know they are appreciative of our culture and incorporated that in the song. Not only that, they also acknowledged it in the description. The song and MV is fire. Butterfly, So What, Why Not, and PTT are my faves now. Might just stan Loona😜💙

If you haven't caught the Premier Greeting D&D Show Loona released yesterday, it will really puts into perspective how they have grown as a unit, a group, as Loona!
