Buying stock performance vehicles is essentially sharing the engineering costs with everyone else who buys the same vehicle. Gaining performance is easy, but gaining performance while having good reliability is very difficult. I've seen so many car enthusiasts who haven't the slightest idea that pumping out more power with engine mods would require more than stock cooling. Most people who track their cars a lot are very conservative with power mods for this reason.

this reminds me of a discussion me and my frends were having of me in my home state of NY. the way our mandatory yearly inspections are done absolutely requires being plugged into a OBDII port to read data directly from the computers. it pulls vehicle specific info (such as the VIN) which makes it difficult to impossible to fake. we were the first country to mandate OBDII in '96 and NY has changed the inspection requirements to end the 25 year exemption, now it's anything '96 or newer MUST always maintain emissions compliance. the exact point of discussion is if someone wanted to import either an R33 or R34 skyline once it turns 25. despite being legal for import, due to the fact Japan didn't have OBDII mandated at that time means the car would never be capable of passing an inspection here, thus would never be road legal, with no easy way around this.
The traditional definition was: Building an otherwise slow (or outdated) car to be faster than it's competitors for a fraction of the price. For example. Building an old Hot Rod to be as fast as a Supercar without spending the obscene price of "buying" the supercar but instead "building" your own car. Great definition isn't it? Those are the same people telling me, "Anime cars aren't a build" despite the hypocritical "anything you do is a build" mentioned just above. They can't have their cake and eat it...either I'm also a build just like them, _or neither of us are._ Restoring a Classic, Tuning a Hotrod, Rebuilding an Old Engine. Making a Kit Car. They say I'm no ta build, but then proceed to have less mods than me....so what is a build then? it's all like how "Clean" used to be so overused and so convoluted before people finally gave up and said, "It just means cool" and soon "Build" probably will mean the same thing. It'll just mean a set of mods they think is, "cool"

Built vs bought - I respect both, but different kinds of respect. Bought cars I respect for having enough money, built cars I respect for having the skills and confidence necessary to build a car.
Most of the built cars drive like crap because the owner does not have hundreds of engineers and hundreds of millions of dollars to spend on advanced engineering. Slightly modifying on the basis of a good design is quite easy, but actually doing things like putting a LS engine inside a miata would not yield productive performance gains.
I build out of necessity. Any time I buy a car, even new, I ALWAYS get a lemon. I’ve just accepted a “fuck it” outlook, and I go through them from the ground up.
I'm not sure if it is a tremec t56 transmission, but if it is, I believe the highway cruising gear is 0.50, compared to a typical ratio of 0.67-0.75, tho some the new 8 and 10 spd transmissions are using 0.63 and such... but not 0.50. part of the reason for that is because you are reducing the torque multiplication by so much it becomes difficult to move the vehicle without lugging it, which is both hard on the engine and you actually don't get as good as fuel economy as you would expect. Fuel economy is a balanced bias between RPM and load, it is not purely based upon RPM alone. If that was the case you would get better fuel economy going uphill at 1,200 RPM then you would on flat ground at 1600 RPM... and that doesn't happen. His Corvette is light enough and aerodynamic enough that it does not put up much resistance to cruising at highway speed, and therefore an extremely low cruising gear ratio can be used, on top of the fact that his Corvette makes a lot of low-end torque which means that it's not struggling to make power either at that low of an rpm. As somebody who has only ever owned trucks & SUV's, I have constantly achieved better fuel economy by using a lower "towing" gear ratio than the base equipment "highway" gearing. 3.42 to 3.55 stock gears has always given me less performance AND less fuel economy than 3.73-4.10 gear. I've always gained about 1-2 mpg across the board going to shorter gearing. Now part of that also is due to old 90s tech engines without VVT, VVL, active this and that, etc. I'm sure having cam phasing optimizing the valve timing advance or retard would help offset that a fair deal, but still. 3.42 -> 3.73, 3.55-> 4.10, 3.30 - 3.73, and 3.55 -> 3.92 (& 2" shorter tires) has given me better fuel economy every time. Trucks put up a lot of rolling resistance through aerodynamics and just heavy overall curb weight and therefore makes sense they'd benefit from more torque multiplication thru gearing than a lightweight aerodynamic car would.
I saw a protest and they were basically saying “GiT RiD Of JaPaNEsE CaRS In AmERIcA” That means bye-bye Supra, R34, 370Z, GTR, RX-7, Evo, Wrx, and more.

5:45 bladed you missed the whole point. The reason people say that is so they can explain why a stock Supra lost to a stock Lamborghini. The only reason the argument is dumb is because that argument gets completely obliterated when you say “aight so add those mods to the Lamborghini to make it fair then see who wins for the 30th time in a row”. Then the 12 year old realizes fast and furious isn’t a reflection of real life.
That last part, I think it's safe to say that it applies to not only cars, but everything in life. People are gonna judge you, but as long as you enjoy being you, yourself, it doesn't really matter.
My 20 year old Opel Omega is technically lowered. Time and use has "modded" some new shapes to the chassi and bumpers. So I guess its a build then by some peoples logic XD
Those "built vs bought" guys are a pain in the ass. Lowering your car isn't a build. I'm in the middle of restoring my AMC Javelin SST. I'm proud to say she finally friggin runs again! Mostly. I got it going and the water pump went. Bit still, me and my buddy have been working on it for about 6 months. THAT is a build. A rebuild, but a build regardless. Just lowering a car and new rims isn't a build.
I love it when people downplay my G35 as a junk car but I’m not the one still making payments on a 2019 Kia Sonata. Also Update on G35. ITS CLOSE TO STARTING!
Isn’t kinda hypocritical to say someone else’s car is junk because they are leasing it but your car isn’t running? Not trying to hate but I feel like I know what you meant, but your comment doesn’t really make sense and seems more or less ironic. Even if someone is still paying off a new car in question does that matter? You’re putting money into your car, and they are putting money into their car. I just don’t see the insult to this not everyone wants a project car so ofc they will see it as “junk” and a waste. Most people can’t imagine the time and money it takes to build a car. Same reason I’m guessing you think leasing a new car is a waste. The interest, and depreciation you take on when getting a new car is immense, but at least you are getting a new car that you don’t have to worry about repairs mechanically, and internally at least for most new cars. (And no I’m not a 2019 Kia Sonta owner lol)

Safety, efficiency, comfort, power, handling, reliability... new cars win. Anyone who disagrees is welcome to trade their ride for mine. X3
for the record, that one about "builds" applies to expensive cars too. Just bacause you spent 30k on exhaust, wheels, and wing for a huracan or 720s doesn't make it a build either, even if you put them on in your garage.
I agree with you on the built not bought shit but imma respect a car built by the owner more than a bought car, provided its actually built like you said. The main problem with kids having sports cars/muscle cars is immaturity and irresponsibility, though that can be helped with responsible parenting. Otherwise, "daddy's money" really just seems like bitterness and jealousy that the kid was raised by a wealthy (or at least well-off) family. They didn't ask for it, it's just what they got, and expecting rich/well-off kids to not enjoy their financially stable upbringing is dumb. Long as they aren't assholes to the 'poor kids,' who cares?
I love when I could just talk with other people about there cars, and not really have one or the other judge. I also love it when people just share ideas around. Some customization you probably didn’t of doing until you saw them or someone recommended it and it inspired you to make that customization. That is what I enjoyed more than anything.

And if you see this Bladed, have you ever watched Naruto? Btw great video.
About that "build" part: my Beetle isn't actually restored, just used with care. So, it is not a build, even with different tires and paint. A real build is something like my all-terrain kart. I wanted something cheaper, but as good as regular karts, so i bought an engine, some used parts in the scrapyard, some metal and started actually *building* it (This was the only comparison i remembered right now)
Those sorts of people are never worth making friends over or spending your time on. Just make something that fills you to the brim with joy (so long as you're not doing anything illegal or dangerous) and nothing else matters!
In my opinion the impressive thing with builds, be that built builds or bought builds, is they way all the parts come together. Choosing cosmetics that go well together, choosing performance parts with the right priorities for the use case. If the same person who figured it out payed for and bolted them on or not I personally don't care for
Funnily enough the people that use the "you're just jealous" statement are also the people that haven't worked a day in their life and just sit there on their arse all day.

Now it's just "Yeah bro, I'm lowered and have rep wheels, BUILT. Bladed's Anime Corvette? Well it's not lowered, so it's BOUGHT."

They can't have their cake and eat it...either I'm also a build just like them, _or neither of us are._
Restoring a Classic, Tuning a Hotrod, Rebuilding an Old Engine. Making a Kit Car. Those are all builds. Changing wheels shouldn't be a build. Literally anyone with hands can do that. It may sound gatekeeping, but again, this stems from the stupid treatment I've gotten.
@@BladedAngel It's not gatekeeping. People call my car a build, and it's just not. I have wheels, tints, a $40 EZ-Lip, a strut bar and an exhaust. That's not a build.
Anyone else infatuated by the fact that Bladed's Vette is basically idling at highway speeds. He must get suprising gas mileage

Are you talking about the 904 banditz at 7:50 ? I’m in Jacksonville and we constantly clown these guys because they make the car scene hot af and it’s bad to the point where it’s on the news
what im constantly tired of hearing is others trying to dunk on NA powered cars (usually having 6-10 cylinders) with their 4cyl turbocharged cars. like yea i wouldnt be surprised that a turbo'd car has a higher power output than NA--its TURBO'd.
My style of modifying a car is based on improving its abilities or mitigating or eliminate weaknesses so others see it and think theres not much done.
I usually just keep replying "so?" to the point where they just insult me, my mom, the race that I'm not, and then i say "so?"
5:54 Here we can't even swap an old original part for a new original part (like literally the same part) without passing inspection, because it is seen as a "modification that can affect the way the car handles". Pretty sad actually.
For your number 4 here, i can relate to this. Im 16 and i have a 2015 lexus is350 f sport AWD. My dad has a 2020 Supra (fbo tuned) im not going to get into that. What im trying to say is that since i just got my license i have all my (now fake friends that i dont care about) essentially being mad that i own my car, so they keep saying “daddys money” and too many things along the line of it. Im extremely fortunate to have this start in life and I realize that. But the fact that we all cant just enjoy eachothers cars is behond me. My friend just got a fusion for 14 grand and im not over here making fun of him, im happy that he finally got his first car. Respect everyone for who they are, not what they have.
*Built, bought, it doesn’t matter. What matters is if you know how to drive it like it’s supposed to be driven.*
Very well spoken. You are spot on every point. I'm more then 2 decades older then you, and you give me hope that there will a positive, common sense- having car community in the next generation. ...STAY OFF FACEBOOK, it'll only bring you down
