people: * buys car and lowers it and calls it a build * me (when i get car): *R A L L Y T U N I N G* * does not call it build cause it's just bought and tuned *
I'm getting a lot of people getting mad for me on that entry saying, "It is a build, anything you do is a build" as they take their car to the shop and get it installed for them... Those are the same people telling me, "Anime cars aren't a build" despite the hypocritical "anything you do is a build" mentioned just above. They can't have their cake and eat it...either I'm also a build just like them, _or neither of us are._ Restoring a Classic, Tuning a Hotrod, Rebuilding an Old Engine. Making a Kit Car. Those are all builds. Changing wheels shouldn't be a build. Literally anyone with hands can do that. It may sound gatekeeping, but again, this stems from the stupid treatment I've gotten. They say I'm no ta build, but then proceed to have less mods than me....so what is a build then? it's all like how "Clean" used to be so overused and so convoluted before people finally gave up and said, "It just means cool" and soon "Build" probably will mean the same thing. It'll just mean a set of mods they think is, "cool"
@@BladedAngel It's not gatekeeping. People call my car a build, and it's just not. I have wheels, tints, a $40 EZ-Lip, a strut bar and an exhaust. That's not a build. Fuck anyone that says it's gatekeeping. The car community might be more toxic than the metal and punk communities, and I always thought they were hard to beat. Your video was 100% right bro.
I was driving on the highway the other day and a high school kid had a stock 1999 Toyota Celica GT and I was driving my 2015 Dodge Challenger scat pack. I thought that kid has a pretty damn cool car so I pulled up and gave him a thumbs up and went on my way. I could see him and his buddy hyping each other up and giving the smiling harder than I've seen. It wasn't a fast car or in the best condition, hell it may have had over 100K, and he may have found it for dirt cheap. But it was his car, he probably looked back at it every time he got out of it and gave him an immense amount of joy. It reminded me of my first and second car, an '02 Ram 1500 SLT single cab and a '93 Wrangler YJ 4.0L Manual, we all start somewhere and this kid started at a pretty cool spot in my opinion.
That "yOu'Re jUsT jEaLoUs" argument is incredibly annoying. You know those overused Land Rover jokes you find whenever a video contains even the slightest mention of a Land Cruiser? Those jokes are made ten times as infuriating when you see someone spamming stuff like "cAnT aFfOrd oNe hUh?" in the replies. You can just picture them grinning smugly in front of their computer while typing something like that.
I think I saw a sticker saying, "If you listen closely you can hear a Land Cruiser rusting in the distance". As you can tell, I'm a big Land Rover fan, but at least Land Cruisers don't break down every 4 minutes.
I really hate the "You're just jealous" argument especially when my friend uses it on me. I'm not the biggest fan of the new gen Camaros, but he insists that I'm just jealous because I drive a stock Corolla. Like no, I don't like how the Camaro looks. I'm not saying it's an awful car, and I respect that he has one fully paid for at his age, but to use an arbitrary argument like me driving a grocery getter is pretty annoying
Just go faster than him on corners. 1990-2010 Corollas are beasts on corners. I ve outpaced much faster cars because of the short wheelbase in corners. Also the FWD helps you pull yourselfe out of corners. Meaning you can accelerate earlier than a RWD car. Ah damn I need to go to the nürburgring again once I ve my wheels tires and suspension.
Understandable I don't like the C8s but if I make opinions about it I get you can't afford it. Imo plenty of better looking cars in that price range, but I'll stick to my Camaros.
On the same note as modding vs stock, I knew a guy in high school that said “Why would I buy a Dodge Demon when I can mod my Eagle Talon to beat the Demon. Even if you did, how long will it last? How much maintenance will it need? How comfortable is it going to be? He was also one of those that said that he will never buy a Dodge Durango because he has one and it broke down. When I knew him, he drove a 2013 Mazda 3 and CONSTANTLY did burnouts in it. It’s like no wonder your Durango broke down because you abused the hell out of it
Buying stock performance vehicles is essentially sharing the engineering costs with everyone else who buys the same vehicle. Gaining performance is easy, but gaining performance while having good reliability is very difficult. I've seen so many car enthusiasts who haven't the slightest idea that pumping out more power with engine mods would require more than stock cooling. Most people who track their cars a lot are very conservative with power mods for this reason.
Love that one. "I have a new 300hp BMW you only have an old Volvo" "No, your bank have a new 300hp BMW, who is constantly losing value, i OWN a classic car that is gathering value every year"
To some extent ribbing on people for their car/modding choices IS the car community, Ford vs Chevy rivalry IS the car community, RWD/AWD/FWD is the car community, Redbull vs. Merc vs. Ferrari is the car community... The traditional definition was: Building an otherwise slow (or outdated) car to be faster than it's competitors for a fraction of the price. For example. Building an old Hot Rod to be as fast as a Supercar without spending the obscene price of "buying" the supercar but instead "building" your own car. Great definition isn't it? Built vs bought - I respect both, but different kinds of respect. Bought cars I respect for having enough money, built cars I respect for having the skills and confidence necessary to build a car.
Most of the built cars drive like crap because the owner does not have hundreds of engineers and hundreds of millions of dollars to spend on advanced engineering. Slightly modifying on the basis of a good design is quite easy, but actually doing things like putting a LS engine inside a miata would not yield productive performance gains.
I build out of necessity. Any time I buy a car, even new, I ALWAYS get a lemon. I’ve just accepted a “fuck it” outlook, and I go through them from the ground up.
You hit the nail on the head. So many good points. I’ve had nice sports cars since I was 22. I was a career firefighter and we make good money, so I was fortunate to be able to do that without college. I was told I was a drug dealer, used my parents money, won a lawsuit or lottery - all kinds of crap. Once I got my firefighter plates, folks left me alone and the rumors stopped lol. Far as mods go, all of my cars look 100% stock - wheels, body, suspension - however, I build the power trains soup to nuts. No one would suspect that my rather mundane looking sedan has somewhere north of 1000hp lol. Anywho, great video and your Vette loose sick 👍🏽
I'm not sure if it is a tremec t56 transmission, but if it is, I believe the highway cruising gear is 0.50, compared to a typical ratio of 0.67-0.75, tho some the new 8 and 10 spd transmissions are using 0.63 and such... but not 0.50. part of the reason for that is because you are reducing the torque multiplication by so much it becomes difficult to move the vehicle without lugging it, which is both hard on the engine and you actually don't get as good as fuel economy as you would expect. Fuel economy is a balanced bias between RPM and load, it is not purely based upon RPM alone. If that was the case you would get better fuel economy going uphill at 1,200 RPM then you would on flat ground at 1600 RPM... and that doesn't happen. His Corvette is light enough and aerodynamic enough that it does not put up much resistance to cruising at highway speed, and therefore an extremely low cruising gear ratio can be used, on top of the fact that his Corvette makes a lot of low-end torque which means that it's not struggling to make power either at that low of an rpm. As somebody who has only ever owned trucks & SUV's, I have constantly achieved better fuel economy by using a lower "towing" gear ratio than the base equipment "highway" gearing. 3.42 to 3.55 stock gears has always given me less performance AND less fuel economy than 3.73-4.10 gear. I've always gained about 1-2 mpg across the board going to shorter gearing. Now part of that also is due to old 90s tech engines without VVT, VVL, active this and that, etc. I'm sure having cam phasing optimizing the valve timing advance or retard would help offset that a fair deal, but still. 3.42 -> 3.73, 3.55-> 4.10, 3.30 - 3.73, and 3.55 -> 3.92 (& 2" shorter tires) has given me better fuel economy every time. Trucks put up a lot of rolling resistance through aerodynamics and just heavy overall curb weight and therefore makes sense they'd benefit from more torque multiplication thru gearing than a lightweight aerodynamic car would.

5:45 bladed you missed the whole point. The reason people say that is so they can explain why a stock Supra lost to a stock Lamborghini. The only reason the argument is dumb is because that argument gets completely obliterated when you say “aight so add those mods to the Lamborghini to make it fair then see who wins for the 30th time in a row”. Isn’t kinda hypocritical to say someone else’s car is junk because they are leasing it but your car isn’t running? Not trying to hate but I feel like I know what you meant, but your comment doesn’t really make sense and seems more or less ironic. Even if someone is still paying off a new car in question does that matter? You’re putting money into your car, and they are putting money into their car. I just don’t see the insult to this not everyone wants a project car so ofc they will see it as “junk” and a waste. Most people can’t imagine the time and money it takes to build a car. Same reason I’m guessing you think leasing a new car is a waste. The interest, and depreciation you take on when getting a new car is immense, but at least you are getting a new car that you don’t have to worry about repairs mechanically, and internally at least for most new cars. (And no I’m not a 2019 Kia Sonta owner lol)
Those "built vs bought" guys are a pain in the ass. Lowering your car isn't a build. I'm in the middle of restoring my AMC Javelin SST. I'm proud to say she finally friggin runs again! Mostly. I got it going and the water pump went. Bit still, me and my buddy have been working on it for about 6 months. THAT is a build. A rebuild, but a build regardless. Just lowering a car and new rims isn't a build.

for the record, that one about "builds" applies to expensive cars too. Just bacause you spent 30k on exhaust, wheels, and wing for a huracan or 720s doesn't make it a build either, even if you put them on in your garage.

Dang it now im keeping my El Camino and gonna start and finish that build, gonna start with a carburated 305 sbc and work my way up to a 454 bbc or ls, maybe a 572 if im that stupid about the build but i wanna turn it into something that is a blast to drive, and possibly can handle itself on a track
I admit I don’t think I’d do what you did to my car because I prefer a plain paint job, but if I was going to I’d hope it looked as good as yours does. It looks great, not my preference but I can absolutely admire something that looks good even though it isn’t my thing necessarily. And props to you for telling everyone to go shove it and just doing what you wanted to do. Love your videos, keep it up!!!!
My 20 year old Opel Omega is technically lowered. Time and use has "modded" some new shapes to the chassi and bumpers. So I guess its a build then by some peoples logic XD

Ill never put someone down for buying a car ive done it myself, but also having done the work of building a car putting the hours and busted knuckles in im just going to respect that grind so much more.
The main problem with kids having sports cars/muscle cars is immaturity and irresponsibility, though that can be helped with responsible parenting. Otherwise, "daddy's money" really just seems like bitterness and jealousy that the kid was raised by a wealthy (or at least well-off) family. Rally rally rally rally🤘
They can't have their cake and eat it...either I'm also a build just like them, _or neither of us are._
Restoring a Classic, Tuning a Hotrod, Rebuilding an Old Engine.
Your video was 100% right bro.
what happened to the pinned comment that said "what game u playing" or something like that
I was driving on the highway the other day and a high school kid had a stock 1999 Toyota Celica GT and I was driving my 2015 Dodge Challenger scat pack.
Stop editing the comment, you'll keep losing the heart I'm giving you😂
Yeah, the other one that annoys me is whenever someone sees a mk5 supra and they immediately comment: " cOoL bMw"
@@idktwo3904 Yeah that too. It's a stupid reason to hate it.

I'm not jealous of a car, I'm glad I'm not dumb enough to pay money for it. I like my stock 09 Escape because it does everything I need of it

@@RandoManFPVwell as a Camaro girl I love my '23. Plenty of other faster better performing cars but my baby boy gets me there 😂
Understandable I don't like the C8s but if I make opinions about it I get you can't afford it.
Hell, people who drive a car even when they also can’t afford it, welcome to consumer debt
This is exactly why I build/restomod my cars 1 I'm financially responsible 2 I own it 3 I take responsibility that other people may not like it
Love that one. "I have a new 300hp BMW you only have an old Volvo" "No, your bank have a new 300hp BMW, who is constantly losing value, i OWN a classic car that is gathering value every year"

i try to keep negative things i say to myself like seeing a scatpack or a vette on some donk type shit it hurts my soul but i keep it to myself
I often dream that since I have a classic (a 1947 ford) that I can get along with and be friends with people who may have cars like a modern tuner car
@@urmanthenascarfan5847 Same man for me I want to be the one with the modern cars and friends with people who have classics

2:11 I thought that argument was about buying a car that was modified, anyways I learned something new today
Now it's just "Yeah bro, I'm lowered and have rep wheels, BUILT. Bladed's Anime Corvette? Well it's not lowered, so it's BOUGHT."
@@BladedAngel I always knew that the built vs. bought thing revolved around the first definition, but never knew its meaning had devolved into something so stupid.
@@BladedAngel I have an idea.
Those guys with lowered Accords who say their car is a bUILd, the only reason they allow themselves to say that is because they know no one would challenge their logic
My idea? Test their knowledge. The next guy in a clapped out Accord who says your Vette is 'bought', say to them you like their 'build' and you want assistance from them to complete a build you have in mind. get in contact with them
Show them a rolling chassis pic or a burnt out shell pic, and show them the result of a final result, then ask them if they can help you with sourcing parts and fitting them.

Anyone else infatuated by the fact that Bladed's Vette is basically idling at highway speeds. He must get suprising gas mileage
Bladed took sim racing to whole new level xD

Even if someone is still paying off a new car in question does that matter? You’re putting money into your car, and they are putting money into their car. I just don’t see the insult to this not everyone wants a project car so ofc they will see it as “junk” and a waste. Most people can’t imagine the time and money it takes to build a car. Same reason I’m guessing you think leasing a new car is a waste. The interest, and depreciation you take on when getting a new car is immense, but at least you are getting a new car that you don’t have to worry about repairs mechanically, and internally at least for most new cars.
