I am such a fan of this. They dont deserve our power, creativity, or grace. I left this toxicity in 2015 (corporate america)...went to my own business - started making 3x my salary, owned my own life, and since black women are powerful creators and manifestors, it all worked out and I was serving the black community as clients.
    They can kick rocks.

My goal was to pay off debt by the end of year & I just received an email that 2 student loans were forgiven. This is significant because I can dump that money on another debt to speed up the process.

One of my jobs caused me symptoms of PTSD. It was so traumatizing. As Rashida said, being in spaces that never valued me and made me feel worthless. It caused me to have chronic lower back pain sciatica. I'll never forget I was in so much pain in the morning that I had to crawl to the bsthroom. I was crying in pain, dreading to go to work and overcome with hopelessness.

Wow...This applies to jobs & relationships. Many are afraid of liberating themselves, because of financial ramifications..

Omg, I worked in human resources and wasn't safe from a new hire from Texas. She found falt in everything I did, even when it was right. She was hired as an HR manager who did not have an ounce of technical or people relations skills. One day, she had the balls to point her finger to a chair and told me to SIT. I wrote her up and reported her to the CEO. He reprimanded her while we discussed her actions. I left the company with severance pay. Retired, buying a home in Caribbean, financial freedom, healthy and wealthy 😅 USA sucks for African American women.

Thank you, ladies! I have found my tribe. I just submitted my resignation.Everything you're saying has been my experience...terrible lack of sleep, Sunday nite dread, and the ever present repeated thoughts of "I can't believe they said/did that"

I felt Roshida's comments in my soul! I was recently reprimanded (1st time in my entire career) for taking initiative. When my manager told me I was being written up for taking initiative and basically not doing something exactly the way he feels it should have been done, I thought I was being punked. And when HR sat by and let the write-up happen, I knew I was doomed. Nevermind this white man sat right in my face and told me in my interview that they welcome innovative, independent team members. I ASKED!

@roshida My Director at my old job told me I "worked too independently" -- on a project that I was the ONLY one assigned to. I almost laughed in her face. I mostly bit my tongue because knew I was being moved to a new team 2 days later. But I did point out to her that she was obviously reaching because she was actually upset about something else. Long story short -- I was the target of a harassment campaign. Don't think I was ever the pet, but having a great reputation independent of her somehow made me a threat. Moved to new team and suddenly there were no issues with my "independence" or performance. I should've left, though. Could've been in the happy place I'm in now MUCH sooner.

Thank you! I came home from work today with a headache. I will be dropping that job. I am self employed and can get more custom, in good time.

According to CDC workplace stress is the 5th leading cause of death and illnesses. I’m thinking of making a blog jus to discuss my experience it’s been nothing short of unpleasant!

I want to get out and have less independence on corporations, but traveling isn’t really my thing. My goal is to be an entrepreneur. How do I connect to learn the skills you ladies used to break free? I have so many creative ideas, but stuck in a life sucking job and I’m drained every day and little energy to pursue my own goals.

I work so hard to teach my kids to invest, plan, and posture themselves to pivot when they want. Building a career that you can turn to consulting and sell your skills outside of a traditional job is a great option. Also, looking at a job only as a funding source to the life you desire to gain. Lastly, don't take any of it personal, get your bag and build your dream.
