  • After almost 2 years of the Kawasaki R211A subway cars being revealed, tested, and held between 207th, Pitkin and Coney Island yards for several different reasons, the first and currently only set of R211A cars has gone into service on the (A) line as of March 10th 2023. This set ran its inaugural run at the start of the PM Rush Hour and proceeded to run throughout the evening until it ended service at Rockaway Park, and was moved back to Pitkin Yard. Through this debut however came with the trains hiccups and multiple issues showed through regardless of the amount of time this train has been in testing. A fight at 181st Street erupted, which lead to the train almost being taken fully out of service from Inwood-207th Street, but however did not happen and it was promptly put back into service and set another trip to Rockaway Park which it then went out of service at, both due to its run time and due to a total of 3 locked doors in need of fixing. The R211A's are predicted to be delivered in mass by the upcoming weeks/months, and will gradually push out the R46's from service as they do so and become more abundant. It is also predicted that the R211T's will begin their start of service once their testing period is over, with a much less harsh delay and a deadline of at least late 2023. For the R211S railcars for the Staten Island Railway however, no deadline is known and it is also unknown how many of those cars have been built. It is expected for the first R211A set to run regularly throughout its 30 day revenue testing period, and eventually will run regularly alongside production R211A sets. #mtasubway

Personally, I was not a fan of the R211A at all, I found everything to be way too close resembling past fleet and not enough originality. It seemed like a lot of things they were going to add to this fleet didn't make the final cut, and its design if you ask me is poor, but that's where cutting corners gets. However while I didn't enjoy it (and certainly didn't stay for long) I still wish everybody enjoys the action I captured regardless.

As of right now, one R211S car has been built so far. If they don’t arrive this year, they will most likely arrive next year.

I’ve seen. The cars numbered #100, but there’s probably at least a few more sets built by this point. Only time will tell.

I would dislike the T’s more if I were you, after yesterdays dangerous fight storm doors actually stop people quicker from danger.

It's preference, not a thing where other people control or say what I should dislike more. I dislike ALL R211's. Whether you have your own reasons of why you dislike one version more then the others is on you, not me. I will say, it is a valid point aside from that.
