We are in Hokkaido now and not only did I abandon my husband at LAX to go to the Centurion Lounge; I brought Tupperware with me to sneak out food for him. Was there at the perfect time, had breakfast at 11, lunch with cocktails at 11:30 and was out of there with his food before noon!
You are a generous and thoughtful spouse! Tupperware is so handy for these scenarios.
First of I’m a beer person so a lager or Pilsner does it for me but if it has to be a mixed drink, anything with tequila is my drink of choice.
Y’all know where I stand on this one. Hilton by a mile over Marriot/Hyatt. The Hilton Aspire is the most powerful product out there. No one can argue against it unless you’re a loyalist for another brand. I have had the product since launch and I was a Hilton loyalist before it. My spouse and I both have it and tag team for better stays across the year on our travels to include business stays. It makes my stays for my family and I 10X better especially because we live overseas. This past week alone we stayed at a Tapestry in Anaheim for a Disneyland stay and at a Curio collection hotel in San Diego.
My gripe with Hyatt is that they only have there award chart to hang their hat on. Once they go dynamic pricing which is an inevitability, they will just be another hotel chain. I would stay at their Thompson branded hotels though.

Waldorf Astoria Chicago was an excellent property when I stayed there (just a plug for the meetup).
That would be such a good idea to do a meetup at a Waldorf and force Nicole to stay there. Haha! Thank you for telling us about your love for the Hilton Aspire card! It’s definitely a keeper for anyone who stays at Hiltons. Let’s hope the card features do not devalue too badly over time. We also agree Hyatt will move to dynamic pricing at some point. It’s bound to happen.
Nicole i just used my free night rewards for the Waldorf Astoria in Cabo. It’s supposed to be one of the nicest hotels on this side of the world and you can see whales depending on the season

I managed to nab 6 nights at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria with booking 5 nights w/ points to get one free and FNC. It’s hard to beat Hilton because of this but I do love Hyatt especially trips without the kids.

I got converted to doing Hiltons when the WB hotel in Abu Dhabi is part of the Hilton chain. For 60K a night, you can walk 120 steps to the Warner bros studio theme park with tickets included for everyone in the room! Free breakfast with gold status and above. Characters at the hotel. Nicole should really give Hilton a chance 😁

Our favorite Hilton property to use the Hilton FNA is the WA Monarch Beach.

Serena, have the Aspire and love it. Applied for the Surpass and got denied. Called recon line, and got it approved! Cancelled the Hilton biz card though, not happy with the recent changes.

the andaz in costa rica is great it was even in the delta videos for a sneak preview.
The Andaz Papagayo is a huge Hyatt fan favorite. Nicole loves it there.
Mitch i just had an issue with United as well with my travel bank. I actually prefer the future travel credit because you can use it for partner flights. With the travel bank itself i could not use the bank with the partner flight. Just used it for a trip to Namibia for next year

My strategy is, My p2 refer me for surpass and I will refer my p2 for Honors. We will time it that by December we will complete sign up bonus and will also pay tax using my surpass to get another FNC. Hoping will get 70k + 130K + 45k + 40k ( 10k MR + 20k Hilton from referral) + 3 FNC
Great strategy to refer and time it appropriately with spend. Remember if you happen to get a pop up with referrals, try the NLL offers. Have fun with those Hilton points and FNCs!!!

NLL = no lifetime limit. This means if you’ve had this card before, you can get it again. Sometimes people will get a pop up saying they are not eligible for an offer.
In anticipation of being able to book SLH hotels with Hilton points, I am saving my stash to book the Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada. Nicole, knowing your love for the Caribbean islands, this might be a great option for you as well ❤️

Nicole, I totally understand! I currently have Hilton but after seeing what my UR points get me with Hyatt, I'm definitely leaning that way! I find it so hard to get reasonable redemptions through Hilton

I started with hilton because of the easy road to top tier status with just the aspire card. We used our 4 free nights(surpass came with free with signup bonus) along with booking 4 nights to get 5th night free to stay a total of 9 nights at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives. That was our 1st redemption ever

Based on your example of p1 get no af + aspire & P2 get no af + surpass, we will only get the upgrade & free breakfast on the nights that p1 booked right?
Technically yes. However, you can always ask to see if the property can extend benefits if P1 is present. Try to book everything in P1’s name. Points transfer easily and FNC gift to P1 is possible too.

Booking with points better to get the refund in points. Choose programs with no fees for award cancellations like the US carriers.
Loved the conversation and POVs on all the hotel cards and reward programs. Question is, for Hyatt redemptions, do I opt for a Hyatt card or just roll with one of the Sapphire cards?

I added my trusted trusted friend to my VX to get her PP access. Problem solved. I do get unlimited friends in the PP lounge when she and others are traveling with me. But now when she’s traveling without me, she can get in there too.
We love this feature of the Venture X! This might still be possible: you used to be able to add an authorized user and use that AU PP to sign someone else up for PP. It didn’t have to be for the AU name. For example, we can set a child up for AU and then sign up the PP access for Grandma. We haven’t seen any recent DPs but this used to work.
