I have the ‘normal’ (non SE) version and it is an amazing little lens. Use it with my Z6 and images are amazing for the price point: portraits, documentary, etc. I’m sure it will quickly become a go-to lens for the Z system. Now hopefully waiting for an S line version … cheers!
I love your videos, since I have Leica M10, Hassy 907x, Fujifilm GFX100s , Nikon Z6 and now the Z9 all your reviews are wonderful for me. Your the only RUclipsr I trust in the reviews. Thanks
You know I had 24mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 primes. I have sold them in place of the 28mm 2.8 and 40mm 2. The smaller size makes up for the f-stop difference when we are talking about portability.
Thank you for showing your results! I like the 28mm field of view more than my 20, 24, or 35mm lenses. This slower lens is nice and small. 28mm is a wide enough angle without the distortion of shorter lenses. Thanks, again!
Thank you for the review. I just ordered this lens, it should be here soon. Great carry around lens. Also thank you for saying Zee instead of Zed. I believe Nikon also said it is pronounced Zee.
Somehow completely missed this video... Now i got to give that a go, i've only used my 28mm Z on the Zfc, didn't even occur to me to give it a spin on a full frame body (Z7/Z9).
About astrophotography this len does the best in the Z6 series and not Z7 series because of the pixel size. It's the first rule of the astrophotopraphy. Night light is captured by pixels and more bigger they are and more light they'll capture with less noise.
the rear lens cap on my pancake 26mm just locked up ... there is a tiny hole on the back of the cap that suggests that you insert a small tool to do what ... release a pin that helps you remove the cap if it locks up ... have not put a vise grip wrench on it yet ... it is on there solid ... dang ... HELP
Hello, I am doing night photography for a project. Basically I shoot at night wide open at forests and at the outskirts of cities with just the moonlight. I am looking for wide angle lens. Would you suggest this or the 24mm 1.8 S ? I am using a Z6II.
I bought this lens when it came with the ZFC camera Although it performs perfectly and the exterior is lovely, I am disappointed with the plastic mounting cam even though it hasn’t given me and probably will never give any problem
How about learning the basics on anything first? Nope, get the most expensive option and put it all on automatic cuz cameras are so smart nowadays they do everything. Nice.
@@markstemmett5296 what lenses get the best composition? And what are the best lenses to buy? I picked up a Sony a1 with grip and a bunch of Sony Lenses. Want a camera to use until I receive my Z9. I actually ordered 2 Z9xs because I see a lot of professional photographers using more then one camera.
You must have a superb copy...mine isn't sharp at all up close haha but I'm using a Z6II. It's a great lens but a few things I don't like is the size, its too compact for me and feels cramped on the Z6/Z7 bodies, the plastic mount is concerning but the lens is light so may not be big deal but I change lenses a lot and little worried it will wear out quick. The last thing I don't like is the tiny front element, looks odd to me...almost like a camera from a phone. Granted its just superficial but not gonna lie...kind of bugs me haha.
Background blur looks shitty on that one. try voigtländer. @8:19 I mean that does not look 3 dimensional as you said. every iPhone can take that picture.
Best combo from Nikon by a long shot. 28mm punches way above it's class.

The 28mm SE lens looks very nice design wise. I wish the compact 40mm F2 also has a SE version. It would make a good pair for Street. 28mm+40mm.
Indeed - I truly hope Nikon gives this design feature to more of their lower priced but very good prime lenses.

What a kind comment, many thanks John, much appreciated.

Have mine z6 and z28mm 2.8f super happy with it 😎👍
Looks like an excellent lens! Something I'd definitely buy if I owned a Nikon Z9. As always, excellent review Math.
Thank you for sharing all the images taken under different conditions. They definitely look very good.
I just ordered the Nikon Z5 + Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 (non SE). I'm thinking they will be practically glued together. 😁😅
What a great test. Thank you. You helped make up my mind to go buy one!
Hi Mat , I took your advise and I found a new 28mm 2.8SE for $160! Fantastic
Thank you for the review. I just ordered this lens, it should be here soon. Great carry around lens. Also thank you for saying Zee instead of Zed. I believe Nikon also said it is pronounced Zee.
Thank you. Your reviews are very well done. After watching several of your clips, I have subscribed.

Just picked one up for my zfc, perfect combo ; )
This video makes me question one of my most favourite lenses ever, the Fuji XF 27mm f/2.8.
Another great and thorough approach 👍
Impressive lens. Thanks for this good review.
Wow, what a bargain lens. This. Is a great lens to take on vacation. Thanks
Ideal for light weight travel with an always-on lens. The Z9 body is heavy but you can easily save weight on the lens side with this 28mm.
I’ve been awaiting a review on this magnificent lens.
Glad you found and liked it :)

wakil bendahara = sponsor utama. Bagaimana gk makin kuat pak Haji
The Lense ring is silent becouse it dosent move anything. its flybywire ring. you can customize it too. just like every other Z lense
Thanks for pointing out.
I wish Nikon had more Z lenses at this price point
Yes please

Consider 20mm f1.8s.
I bought this lens when it came with the ZFC camera

Nice review thanks.
Which is best lens landscape & portrait Nikon z 40mm f/2 or 28 mm 2.8 plz help me 🙏
The 40 would be better.
Y talking about the money when I have Z9?
Is the Nikon Z9 good for a beginner photographer with an unlimited budget?
Absolutely not.
Yes.
How about learning the basics on anything first? Nope, get the most expensive option and put it all on automatic cuz cameras are so smart nowadays they do everything. Nice.
Absolutely yes if you committed to learning. Tech less important than having a keen eye for compositions

Maybe say inexpensive as opposed to cheap. You get a big bang for your buck with this lens
nice video
👍🏾
Equivalent to a Ferrari body with a Kia engine on the inside.
Nikon blew it by not producing a F mount mirrorless. they want you to buy this new line of glass. no thanks.
Or, you know, just use the adapter?
