I love your style of photography! Looking at getting this lens for my Z6. Going to Germany in December and want a walk around native prime. Been also looking at the 40mm but the 28 would probably give more shooting options.
@@juliegarner2273 thanks!! Your comment has made my day! The 35mm 1.4 is a nice lens in between those. Been using it for street and work and enjoy it a lot! I have a video with it as well if you are interested.
Nice photos! i have been wondering about adding this lens to my bag or the 26mm. I had a mind to wait on voigtlander 28mm F1.5 in a Z mount, I think i will add this one to my bag for NY/DC trip next month. 🤔
It’s cheap and small so picking it up while waiting for a 1.5 to come out would be fine for sure. Especially if you have a trip next month. Hope you get some great shots!
Great video and photos. I really want to get the ZF with the 28mm and Voigtlander 40mm. Wanted to get a x100vi, but I can get the ZF with the Voigtlander for about the same price or the ZF with the Nikon 28mm and 40mm for less than the x100vi. The prices they’re asking for the Fuji is pretty absurd at the moment. For video, how long does it take for the camera to get the overheat sign when shooting 4K?
@@ren1818ren ya, I like Fuji a lot but the prices are a little out of control for that series. I’m not sure how long it would take. I did a full hour of heavy shooting of video the other day and it didn’t overheat at all. Seems much better for that than other cameras out at the moment. Hope that helps! And good luck with your shooting.
you've shown us such inspring shots and demonstrated this len's capabilities, if it wasnt for this video i wouldnt have gotten the zf with the 28mm lens. thank you sincerely, love from Malaysia! subbed!
@@stefanusadrian8398 thank you for an amazing comment!! I was happy with the 28mm for this shoot for sure. Maybe when I’m talking to the camera a biiiiit wider would be nice I guess.
@@stefanusadrian8398I have been using it a lot these days and ya it has a little weight but NOTHING compared to my Z9. Once you get used to it it’s a super fun camera to use.
@@stefanusadrian8398 I always shoot manual or Aperture priority, never use auto iso setting. I keep my ISO high enough so my shutter speed is high enough to stop motion, and it’s not too hard to just turn the nob as needed. Rather like the feel of shooting this way as well
Woww I learned alot by reading your thought process and look for reflections. I used to look for these things but now I forgot all about how cool reflections can be. I noticed you shoot alot on the screen and it does have alot of glare, I suggest you find a "paper felt screen protector" from other devices like ipad and cut a small piece for the ZF screen, it will be much pleasing to look at under bright light.
I already liked your rainy Tokyo shots with the 40, and these with the 28mm are great as well! I'll leave with the family for Japan in a week and will be there for 4 weeks. I doubt I'll have much time for street photography with two little kids but I wanna do some shooting nonetheless. I have the 24-70 f/4 and the 28 & 40 "twins". My brain says take the kit zoom to benefit of the 24mm for Tokyo and landscapes in general (will be travelling a lot there). However, I know I will like shots taken with the primes more. Carrying everything on a daily basis is out of the question, as is a lot of lens swapping. I'll be too busy with my kids there, I'm afraid. Usually just grab the X100F for my travels and be done, but I wanna shoot full frame over there. One lens for the Z6, what should it be? :)
I honestly think with kids and all the moving changing lenses would be difficult, but if it were me I would at least take the 24-70 as the main, and then have the 40mm with you just incase you can change, or want a more compact lens with you. But saying that, you could just bring all three, and then pick a lens depending on what you are doing that day. Even if the primes stay in your hotel the whole time is better to have them here and not use them than leave them at home and want them. Hope you have a great trip! And thanks for the great comment!
@@jasonhalaykophotography Appreciate your taking the time to get back to me. I think I'll bring all three, and just change on a daily basis, as you say. Gonna report back how I fared.
@@jasonhalaykophotography Awesome, I just might. Even if it's just to grab a coffee and talk photography, and Japan in general. Are you located in Tokyo? I love how you find interesting perspectives to shoot from, taking advantage of puddles and reflections. Really great to learn different street photography ideas. By the way, did you consider the 26mm f2.8?
Thank a lot! I love finding these little hidden in plain site kind of spots. I did consider it, but went with this mainly because of the price I was able to find it at.
Your photos have been the most convincing in my decision to get this lens out of all of YT.
AMAZING!! Super happy to hear =)
Such an underrated little lens. Would love for more muffin Nikon lenses
It seems to be super underrated! Much sexier lenses out there for sure, but this fits my settle nicely. Even used it for some video work yesterday.
Great photos! The reflection one with the lady that turned around was fantastic!

Yes, that would be better, but for the price and size of this I’m not complaining. It’s something I use in the street mostly so f/2 is still great.
