Good video. I'm looking hard at getting into this business. Beats going OTR for a mega carrier because I have pets and an elderly mother to take care of. I want to be able to call my own shots. First time watcher; Noticed your turn signals appear to flash pretty fast-guessing you have LED bulbs in your truck? I'm a little surprised that DOT didn't object to this. Also you should get a trailer-aide block to drive up on to change a flat plus a good HD cordless 1/2" drive impact.
Yeah the dealership I bought it from did a bunch of custom lighting and wiring causing the truck to think they are burnt out but work just fine. I’ll have to look into getting that block! Thanks! And I have an impact. I will eventually get an air gun impact. My truck has an air tank on it.

@@truckertavis Cool! Trailer lighting shouldn't affect your signal speed. I'm guessing that you may have LEDs in your TRUCK? If so you may want to swap out your standard flasher unit to an electronic one-THAT should fix that. Will your truck compressor support a 1/2" drive air impact gun? Do you have air hose & fittings to hook it up? You'll love the Trailer Aide block whenever you have a flat on your trailer!

Just letting you know a couple hundred pounds over isn’t anything to really stress about. I mean yeah try to get it as good as possible but it’s not a huge deal if you’re not. I know every state is different but i got a overweight ticket in South Carolina and it was only $98. I was 2800 pounds over lol. That was 2 weeks ago and was my first ticket in 8 years that might have played a roll but idk.
How long have you had your MC number?

Are you a non cdl driver ? I just purchased a 40 ft trailer 15,900 gvwr and my truck is 10,000 gvwr is that still considered non cdl?
I am. And yep, if it’s under 26k you will be non CDL

There always looking especially weight stations but even on the regular roads the DOT is their own police department in unmarked vehicles . So many federal laws to its like a Webster dictionary .
They have a quota and hot shots are easy to do, they are lazy turds.

Oddly enough I’ve been working with the same ones. Must be because of my lanes I’m in.

@@HotShotShark well it could be the area/lanes you’re running. I have bad days where I live trying to get freight but get better days in lanes out in other areas. I’m just trusting God to keep me afloat

@@Kentuckyvlogs yes and no, the hard part is finding brokers to work with you as a new authority, which usually means you gotta take cheaper loads to start (not always tho)
