Do you recommend having 4x4 lumber as well? Just trailer width? How many? Also I know you’ve had some issues with your trailer along the way. What make, size would you recommend for someone starting out on a budget? Also do you prefer gooseneck over 5th wheel setup? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks Tavis

Hi. I’ve been enjoying your videos and am a new subscriber. I’m looking into getting into non CDL Hotshot. I have a 2007 GMC 2500 Duramax and would like to use that. It’s got 149k on it though and a 6 inch lift 35” tire’s similar to yours so whatever trailer I went with would have to be modified as well. What else would I need to get in order to start beside the ELD, tarps, straps, etc? Thanks

American trucks really fell off. They used to be good looking, simple, work vehicles, not family carriers with a bed. Those old trucks didn’t break down as often as these new ones do as well. But, people still buy those trucks…

That's exciting! Congratulations! I've been watching your videos for months while I was planning my Hotshot startup and have learned a lot from you. I went to truck driving school for three weeks to get my CDL and finished this past Friday. I enjoyed driving the big rigs so much, I was torn about whether to move forward with Hotshot or go ahead and buy a tractor. I ended up deciding to go forward with my original plan and pick up my Ram 3500 dually tomorrow, but I have a feeling I'll end up the same as you in a year or two. Congrats on the new rig Tavis, just a fyi, the thumb button on the shifters are color coded for immediate reconition... i.e. black is 10sp, red is 13sp, blue is 15ps, and gray is 18sp. I started 7yrs ago this month with a cheap single axle daycab, ran frac tanks out of Wright Wy last week. I also have a Freightliner twin screw with a large flattop, and i'm currently working on putting a HS rig together. Not enough pay to run the twin screw this year, and it has been the most expensive truck to get working. ~Rob~

That’s awesome man!!! I’ve gone back and forth a thousand times on if I want to upgrade. How far I want to upgrade, if I go all the way up to semi what kind of trailer do I want (2-3 axle RGN, step deck), etc. That’s a nice Pete though, my guess is you got a step deck 🤔.

Good try but hard to follow

I’ve been running My own Quad axle dump trucks and have had my Numbers for 6 years and mi insurance has been about 450 a month. Looking to buy a left over 2023 f350 or newer to run hot shot during the a winter months in the Midwest when Dump trucking is slow. I’d like to be part time 12-15 days out the month either over the road or tri state for 3-4 months. What are the profit numbers like part time would you be close to 10k gross? id hate to buy another Class 8 truck and barely use it.

$1 a mile is crazy. That’s Florida for you. Once you get out there it gets a lot better. My authority just turned one year. Box truck gang!

The sight of them brakes tell me all I need to know. You stick out like a sore thumb and you need to blend in and disappear in the crowd. Remove them childish stickers from the windshield , get the truck 100% legal lighting wise. Install good quality tires that are legal. Always know the weight of your load and if it is not the correct size in the correct wait, either refuse it or ask for more money.
