4:00! Notice how Tytus and Megator’s artwork are showing two different coloured castle tower halves yet they sort of fit together if you merged it into one? 4:33: Gigantosaurus made it that far along in production and was tossed.
Tytus was definitely one of my biggest (no pun intended) disappointments with classics. The scale and no rooted hair were the issues (also the weapon is too big). I understand the reasons behind those decisions, but then vintage Tytus is my all time favorite toy, I mean you can see yourself, how played in condition my vintage Tytus is from the picture you used in 9:37-10:06, which features my vintage Tytus (along with my vintage one armed Sorceress and very messy computer desk). For bigger sized Tytus (especially if it came with rooted hair), I would have gladly payed $100 or even more. Unfortunately for me, most MOTU fans don't have a similar nostalgic connection with this character as I do.
Great video! Thank you! I get why the Classics Tytus was scaled down, but I do still wish a larger, more articulated version could've been done. As Chris C said, would've also loved to have seen Azdar, Belzar, and Chadaz as well, along with perhaps Colossor and Steelkill. Ah, well. At least we got 'im! A funny thought occurred to me at the 07:29 mark, with Tytus picking up King Hiss: I suddenly imagined him having Steve Irwin's voice: "I've gotta use this grabber, because these snakes are dangerous. Now I'm gonna fling 'im back to his territory . . . ."
Assuming price point wasn’t a concern, how large would you have gone with the giants? I want to do Tytus and megator as miniatures to go with the fields of eternia game, since the average hero would be 28mm there’s some leeway with how big they can be, but I don’t want them to seem clunky or not fit in due to size
Another great video sir! Another reason to like Classics was the chance to get more rare figures. Off hand, do you know if any of the molds could be used for new MotU figures today?
It’s interesting you considered price point. When I got into this the late tax on the line was quite high with heman going for $100 at the time. All the speculators were on. It is possible $100 price point would not be a deterrent for customers.
I just didn’t like the giants due to not having the same articulation. Either make them bigger and lose articulation or keep them that size and add articulation.
Ok when you said that Tytus’ weapon was a grabber, I noticed it looked like one of those Tennis ball chuckers for playing fetch with dogs and I immediately pictured Tytus like grabbing king Hiss or someone with it and then just launching them off into the distance like a tennis ball and I could not stop laughing. Like Hiss: I am king Hiss, Ruler of the snake men! I do not fear you gi- hey wait what are you doing?! Let me go! Tytus: YEET!!! Hiss: AAAAAAHHHHHHHH 🤣
I always liked the look of Tytus but could never find him. I'm hoping we see a lot more figures and variants for the Masterverse collection. Crossing my fingers for another new Fisto. Did you ever reveal your top 5 list of MotU characters? I know for me it'd include Zodac, Fisto, Man E Faces, Hordak, and Thunder Punch He-Man [I thought he looked better in red and loved the H symbol].
Tytus and Keldor were the only figures I missed during their original releases, I'm so glad they were re-issued and that I could get them at that point and not have to pay scalper prices. I would have definitely purchased a $100 Tytus, Megator and Procrustus.
I remember seeing Tytus in toy stores in Italy in the 1980s, but no one I knew (not even those who had the almost complete collection) had it. I guess even then the cost was much higher than one of the normal action figures and this was a big obstacle to sales.
The G for Grayskull is interesting. I think early art for He-Ro shows him with a G on his chest instead of an H. I wonder if his whole team was going to wear a G on their chests? The Powers of Grayskull makes for a decent team name too.
Really enjoyed the giants in MOTUC and I'm glad he wasn't any bigger. The original looks like it belongs to a different line in the likes of comparing Star Wars Black series to the vintage line. My only gripe would be that the plastic and articulation wasn't the same as the rest of the line. I have a feeling that they are going to breakdown, degrade and crack over time.
I really love this the line but sorry to say the quality is not durable while watching the video i went look at my Tytus figure and the leg just came off. I just have them display i have the same problem with king Grayskull the legs do break
Spector Creative i have toys from mattel from back to 80 s that I played with that are still in good condition. These were toys for collectors very expensive that I have display barely touch and just break Had I know back then that this would happen I would not had invested in this line. i truly love MOTU and i am happy to have had the chance to complete the collection but these toys are not sol old and should have had better quality. Especially for the price.
Do you know why non-buck based budget 12 inch lines are a thing if making a 12 in figure is so expensive? I'm not questioning your logic, I'm just curious. Like, they're usually superheroes and you sometimes see them at places you wouldn't expect like Aldi.
The giants scale was all wrong. They are even too small to use with the 5.5 inch vintage figures, let alone the 7 inch Classics. Case in point: Tytus' weapon, which was made to fit over the Classics figures, thereby making him look too small to hold it. He needed to be at least 6 inches taller.

Thé prototype at least
I saw an original Shogun Warriors/Jumbo Machinder prototype at the Bandai museum in Japan that was wood.
Nice. I wondered how often this was done
It was awesome when you guys did the Giant figures because the vintage are so expensive.
At least these are a good option!
@@spectorcreative1872 It is and they came out looking great as well.

Yeah if I could do it all again we would have made him bigger
I never used Tytus's accessory because I was worried it would scrape the paint on my other figures.
I don’t blame you
Funny. I like Darkhawk
Nothing funny about it. Darkhawk rules!
Awesome! Procrustus was definitely my fave of the giants! They were all great though, of course. :)
That one was mine too! I love me some RockGiants
I think they really figured out the logistics by the time Procrustus came along.
oh yes
i remember seeing vintage tytus and megator while on a italy vacation back in the 80s
i am german

I did have plans for the ABC giants. But alas, the line did not make it to them
Were their any plans to bring other Powers of Grayskull characters to live that never got released before?
Oh tons! We had the roadmap go on for about 4 more years but the new team passed it off to Super 7 instead
And cut to modern day where finding a classics figure less than $100 feels rare
Crazy in my mind!
I might grab a figure of this just because he looks so cool and have him play with my Origins figures. Even though he looks out of place design wise.
Well he is an update to an existing figure. We didn't create him for Classics or anything like that. ;-)
@@spectorcreative1872 I know but it'll be all I have unless Origins makes their own version.

If we could have done anything knowing customer would pay, I'd say 3 feet would have been nice.
Another great video sir! Another reason to like Classics was the chance to get more rare figures. Off hand, do you know if any of the molds could be used for new MotU figures today?
At this point I doubt the tools are still usable.
So if rooted hairy makes a doll would Grizzlor be a doll?
He doesn’t have rooted hair! It’s a furry sock!
@@spectorcreative1872 even on the head?

Possibly, but it wasn't a risk we wanted to take at the time
I wish origins would make full 16 inch figures of Tytus & Megator complete with rooted hair. I'll pay the price, I don't care.
Oh it would have been awesome
I just didn’t like the giants due to not having the same articulation. Either make them bigger and lose articulation or keep them that size and add articulation.
Yeah it was like robbing Peter to pay Paul. We had to make a call.
I can't believe there was supposed to be a whole line based on Giants and Dinosaurs!
Stranger things have happened! But not many.
Pretty much how it was designed. I thought of a Tennis ball grabber too!

Everyone needs a Fisto (wait that didn't sound right...)
Beast Lord is that am ancestor of Beast man? On the side of the good guys?
Well the species has many and some are good, some are bad. A species is not evil.
@@spectorcreative1872 Beast man in Revelation is the only characters i like better than any of the previous versions.

The two giants in the MOTU Classics line were never that appealing to me. Great video Scott!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Yup. The original idea was He-Ro would lead team "G" but that kinda fell apart. But since Tytus shipped first, it remained on him.

Yeah, sometimes big is big enough. We only have so much room
You should have charged more and the figures right or wait later when customers would be good with the price point.
It is a catch 22 I know~!
The scale that you guys used for tytus was perfect. The vintage was way to big and terribly inconvenient. I love that figure and the character

Has there ever been any comics or cartoons with Titus in them?
He was in the MOTUC mini comics. But otherwise no.

If you are referring to things like Hasbro's titan series, they have very limited articulation and deco. This is what makes them inexpensive to make.
Awesome! I wish we could've gotten the ABC giants as well.
Yeah, would've been great to get them. Maybe Colossor, too.
