If I had a laundry bag this beautiful I would forever be bringing out my dirty laundry! I learned so much Risa, at first I was thrilled at learning a half bow stitch but it just kept getting better with the colonial knot, the knotted rose and the whipping stitch, oh, there were those lovely little purple buds as well. Many thanks indeed and what a beautiful result.
Hello, What hoop stand to you prefer? I watched both of your videos on the square and now this one you are using. Which do you prefer. I thank this is the one I might try, I think because I hope to use in a chair and not at a table.
It depends. If you plan to do more big format ribbon embroidery then the square adjustable handsfree stand is useful as you can buy different size frames to fit. You can also use it as a lap stand on a chair, however, I find it difficult to rotate to get to the back sometimes. In this video I used the hoop stand.
Any iron works. I bought a mini flat iron as I find it convenient and handy to use. It only has an on/off switch and no setting. Have not had any issues. On a normal iron you can set it to medium or silk.
Yes, it is me again. The pro markers are alcohol based and you also used water color dye. Looking at the kit I see water dye only? Can I use a water based marker, or do I need to get some kind of liquid dye? thank you again Georgia
Hi good to know that the kit now includes dyes, it didn’t when I bought it 2 years ago. You can use water based dyes as well. Pro makers are alcohol based and permanent. The Javana dyes are liquid and permanent. But I’ve also used my son’s water color set and it works. The only thing about those is that the ribbons become stiff after painting and lose their delicate natural petal look.
Sorry, I need to claify, There is no dye in the kit. I was questioning which kind you preferred. I am looking at getting the pro pens, but would the water based be better than the alcohol?
I noticed the laundry bag and shoe bags in the hotel I was staying at and realized how often I ignore them or throw them away. Yet they can be a perfect base fabric for embroidery rather than buying fabric in the store. In this case, I admit I embroidered an elaborate design for the purpose of recycling but I hope it inspires others to recycle items with simple embroidery as well.
Love your videos! Just found you a few days ago, and have subscribed and chose notifications. I have a question about the ribbon you use. Do you know if a soft satin ribbon can be used instead of silk? The silk is so pricey.
Yes satin ribbons can be used. There are downsides to using satin as they are not easy to stich and pull through fabric being thicker than silk. You can watch my satin ribbon videos for ideas.
Absolutely Jaw Dropping! So much thanks for sharing!
Thank you !

Hello again, Have you every tried Shibori ribbon project? I found this on Pinterest and think it is very lovely ribbon. thank you Georgia
I haven’t tried Shibori. Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll check it out.
Thank you so much for doing this kit!! It is LOVELY. Question on the iron, is it a special kind of iron or does any iron work? What temp setting?

I❤ this pattern and you did a wonderful job. Why all this work and expense on such a cheap base?
Thank you 😊.

Both Promakers and Javana work well. I like the markers. Easier to use. Water colors not so much.
Hello again, the Javana paint/dye is really hard to find, do you have any suggestions on another brand?
I got mine on Amazon. Sorry don’t know others. I’ve used water colors too. But they make the ribbons stiff.
Amazon US or Europe
Amazon US. Search for Javana by Kreul
Sorry,I thought you were stitching on the fabric the bag was made from.
No worries. My objective was to recycle a piece of item for reuse. I enjoy stitching & it really wasn’t much effort. I hope the video helps.
