Both their names start with E My theory is that Harumi/The Quiet One found Echo Zane at some point during the 7th season while stuff was happening, had him reprogrammed and re-enhanced Echo Zane to become Mr.E and then the events of the 8th season happened

Now I agree with the overlord virus theory because THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. In a Mini series called “Decoded” the main villain was the overlord, but only I little bit of it. I don’t think many people know Decoded so they couldn’t see this great piece of evidence.
I think decoded happens again in season 12 but different characters and the overlord is hacked because he was weakened in decoded and he was recovering, but he got hacked before he could be fully recover to the point he could not be hacked, and all his nindroids return into hacked versions

I think it's either the overlord or mindroid, maybe in day of the departed mindroid came back as a sidekick to cryptor but since cryptor abused him he refused to help cryptor so he found his own person to kill and replace his spot in the departed realm, or I do believe a fragment of the overlord virus could posses a nindroid because we already saw it happen when he tried to posses Zane in the recap when the ninja go in zane

Ninjago Theory Channel That's a high possibility considering she was a fan of the ninja after same was discovered to be a nindroid. She was also a princess in the palace of secrets with a nindroid Mr. E. Your overlord virus and echo Zane theories might both be correct. The overlords might have found echo Zane and did a "deal with the devil" situation as a possessed nindroid giving her the parts to create a friend for her with dark intentions like her. Echo Zane was sweet and followed orders to the t in skybound (ex: hitting Jay with the djinn sword because he said the que word even though Jay didn't mean to) Harumi relies on his ability to follow orders. Echo was sweet but the overlords was dark probably giving him a reason to stay silent too.
Well actually, they only proved part of the virus still existed in Zane's matrix and then did the worst thing they could possibly do with an awesome idea like that.

I saw a tweet on Instagram asking if the mechanic will be back, he someone who works on making ninjago or someyhing said he will. As we see he has but along with the potential minidriod maybe the mechanic made a robot so he can escape cryptarium prison. Then overtime he just got the mentality of evil and betrayed his creator. Idk I just wanted to point something out 😂
Definitely an credible theory, The Mechanic has had a pretty minor role in the series so far with him only having a bigger part during Chen's attack on Ninjago, but I'd definitely be happy to see him take on a bigger role in the series!
