I know some folks who saw this announcement hoped that we’d have a Zelda who fights directly like in Smash or the Warriors games, but I do appreciate that Zelda’s powers and exploration abilities are tied to puzzle solving. Besides, I think with the levels of exploration from BOTW/TOTK to have something that is more puzzle focused is a good change in pace

I love the new 2d zelda but extremely give up on the fact that we will ever see twilight princess or wind waker ever again, it has truly died on a dead console and in no way I'll ever get my hands on those games to try them out.
Same feeling. Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game of all time, but I played it on an emulator that was laggy so I couldnt get the full experience. Really hoping they would remake it, but at this point I give up

I'm glad that the game is called "Legend of Zelda" and not something like "Tales of Link" because that means this game is not a spin off game. It's a mainline Zelda game that'll probably even get a place on the timeline.

A 2D featuring Zelda is a good compromise imo. I don't get why everybody is so obsessed with changing a franchise that has had people desperate for more for 30 years. But giving fans what they want in a playable Zelda while using it to make a 2D even more puzzle based than usual, and even less combat based, makes a ton of sense
Finally! A playable Zelda in the canon! I'm pulling out Link's Awakening now. I got it for the kids, and I've been meaning to get around to it. But I'm definitely gonna play that through before Sept 26! It doesn't look like Echoes will be a sequel to Awakening in the way TOTK is the sequel to BOTW. I just eant to acquaint myself with that art and game style. I've never been great with 2D Zelda. I guess I got to get good now.

Well don't forget legend. Zelda phantom tracks where Zelda is a playable character there but not the main character so link has always been the number one person. Technically not the first game where you can play as Zelda. You can play as her in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Cadence of Hyrule.
