Guitar Lesson: How To Play Jump by Van Halen - Campfire Edition

- May you rest in power, Eddie Van Halen. You single handedly invented a new breed of guitar player, and in doing so had a hand in shaping much of the music that came after you. I have you to thank for all the 8 year olds who, having never picked up a guitar before, walked into my studio asking to learn Eruption. May your music be heard from all corners of the Earth every day, but especially today. With this video I hope to make this acoustic rendition of Van Halen's Jump accessible to campfires across this great world.

This is a terrific one-man arrangement. I appreciate your conciseness, and I love the sense of humor you infuse. Thanks very much! And thanks also for mentioning the stylistic option to voice the final intro chord as Csus2 (for purists).
I'll be referring to this later.
thanks for taking the time Jaerv :)
I'm loving see all of the Eddie content coming out. I'm still in a state of shock and mourning tbh. Eddie was king. Thanks for everything. I've only just found your channel! A fantastic idea.
welcome and thank you FS! May he rest in power.
Very appropriate ✌️❤️🤘🎸
cheers KIC
You already know, I’m the guy who comments on every campfire version that I live for these 😍 rip Van Halen he will be missed :(
indeed DF, thanks for not missing your cue :) and may he rest in power :(
Great lively playing and nice instruction for acoustic that's fitting for EVH. As a guitarist for book trailers about comics who's influenced by Eddie Van Halen and as one looking for inspiration, your instruction here is great since you nicely explain how to move to all those chord shapes and account for the synth part too. Informative!
kind words from a pro - thank you DL, I'm really glad you enjoyed that :)
One of the most influential legendary guitarist we’ll ever know. Legends live forever🤘🤟
hear hear!
Excellent choice! Rest in Power Eddie! See you again on the other side of the river!

Ahem *clears throat* when I saw this video pop up I got quite excited, made me want to... . . ... Jump!
Then I thought to myself, might as well jump
So then I just went ahead and jumped
Jump! (next time wait for me to do the backing vocals)
Well done. Thanks for this - Victor

Ryan Lendt love your stuff. I’ve always liked Aztec Camera’s cover, slowed down to a nice effect
Ooh Ryan great tribute to the great Eddie!
Ooh thanks SV :)
I’ve learned more cool music from you than I think about anybody by now. And my grandma gave me my grandfather’s nylon string acoustic and paid for my lessons. I was about 11. Can’t remember. A lot of cool people have taught me a lot. I don’t suck. I love your line “campfire ready”. That describes me to a T. I sing and play. I love it. I’m not that good. But I’m ok. I’m campfire ready.
just don't forget to practice your stop drop and roll! you know, just in case...
YES...!!!

10/8/20. Nice tribute to Eddie Van Halen. Take care, Ryan.
thanks MM! I heard on the golf course yesterday someone almost stepped on a gray snake. Don't know what kind that might have been...
Wonderful lesson...still in disbelief. 😢 RIP EVH....
in power. thank you Sam.
@@RyanLendt i have to ask...whatpowerchutalkingaboutwillis? (I've just never heard the rest in power line) im all for learning new things.
I got asked to cover this. Thanks for showing me how to play this.
happy to help Mike cheers :)
i just tried it with a capo at the third fret so I could pedal the C on the A string against the moving triads. I think it sounds pretty good. I'm thinking of adding this to my acoustic act. I'll have to figure out what to do with the solo... tapping on an acoustic probably won't give me what i need. Probably just come up with voicings that sounds like the chords he's tapping arpegiate them by picking.
i wanna see that video
@@RyanLendt haven't figured out what to do with the solo yet
Rip Evh. He wont ever die.
He died already
@@seemeethanator1444 We don't die until we're forgotten and in that case, Eddie will never die.
I think everyone knew what you meant but that guy Knuckle :)
@@crustcrusader8611 Rock n roll never forgets.

Great respect paid Ryan... what a legend we lost. But I digress... campfire respect the wind ??? Lol. Any lesson would be great but maybe impossible for that one.
Thank you Brandon. gut feeling is that not many VH tunes are camp-able, but I haven't investigated that deeply (got super lucky with this one)
