What a beautiful end to a beautiful walk! It's many years since I parked up on the ridgeway in my living vehicle, it saddens me that this privelidge was taken from us by heathens!! I also rode from Streatly to Marlborough on horse back over 2 days which was also an amazing journey. Nice one Olly! ☺

Your dog has some expressive eyebrows. When you were on Hackpen Hill, did I hear a Nightingale singing? God, I love the Beech and that whole atmosphere there in the ancient burial mounds it really pulls my heart to be there in some strange subtle way.
Thanks for the journey into Avebury. Really enjoyed the whole "Songline of the Ridgeway" series and fitting to post this last instalment on the winter solstice just experienced in England. Seems to me stone circles, henges, pyramids relate with an earlier initiatory tradition related to mounds. The inner chamber of mounds and the passageways leading into them aligned for specific light at a specific time (Newgrange for instance). For the initiate laying within this inner chamber of the mound to resonate within the frequency of it to become spiritually and morally challenged. To then astral travel relative to the confronted specific initiatory light to become spiritually and morally initiated through the process. The conscious state of the initiate being transformed during this initiatory experience to make them initiated leaders into a sun based spiritual practice. Stone circles, like Avebury, Stonehenge, so many others across the planet, when originally complete and operational, an extension of this light/consciousness initiatory practice undertaken within mounds. The inner ring of the stone circle representing the chamber of the mound, and the avenues leading into this inner circle the pathway for initiatory light across the landscape at specific times. Lara and Mark Atwood have explored very deeply into this light initiatory concept in their "Ancient Religion Of The Sun" and "Spiritual Out Of Body Experience" books.
