- Does farming S Class Freighters in No Man's Sky still work in 2020? After reading through some of my comments from my older No Man's Sky S Class Freighter video, some people have stated that the grind takes too long or the old reload method doesn't work anymore. So i decided to test whether the old method still works on my Xbox this time round.

Confirmed it still works as of 9/26/20. I got really lucky and ran some statistics. After only 11 jumps I found the ship I liked. It's a large Black with Red Sentinal S-Class ship which only took me 10 runs to get! I only got 6 C class, 3 B class, 0 A class and 1 S-class. I would recommend making a google sheet. My parameters were System Name, Distance, Star Color (economy scanner), Ventnor, Sentinal, Ship Color, Small, Medium, Large, Liked it?. I used the economy scanner since it provides a broader spectrum of colors to identify the system easier in case you want to go back. Great video and thanks!
You are very lucky, i'm actually trying to have one too. I'm farming a large venator (black and orange) on blue star with 2 in economy. 138C 9B 7A and crossing finger to have an S class :D (5hours of reloads actually) Euclide galaxy, Micalle XVII, 40AL, Gek
Do you have to go your 5th warp to random three star systems or can you do the 5th warp to the same system on every reload
@@teagancollyer You can keep warping to the same place each time if you want. From what I gather it will always spawn the same type of ship including the size and color but what will change will be the class type. So I what I did is jumped to different three star systems until I got the size, type, color that I liked and then landed on the space station to speed up the process also because I didn't want to have to look up the star every time and reloaded my autosave from the space station when I didn't get my S-class ship.
@@ViciousSeed thanks. Yeah I was fine with the size, type and colour of the ship I was getting. I spent 12+ hours over the past few days reloading the autosave to try and get a s class to no avail.
Huh, just found an sFreighter by accident and bareley had the money left. Also an hour earlier i found this exotic ship which is nice.

130+ reloads, still nothing. What the hell. I did the math, 93% of people would have come across one after that many reloads
Thank you for this comment. I'm at exactly 131 reloads now and started looking for people online, to figure out if I'm going crazy or just mad unlucky. Glad to find others who've had this unfortunate combination of persistence and bad luck. Hope you got it in the end! I'll have to sleep on it to see whether I want to continue the grind after all these hours...

@@marcou2pop yes and no... I did eventually give up after about 145 reloads, as my luck was definitely against any mathematical probability. I think what went wrong initially was jumping from a two star system into a three star instead of three star system to depart from as well.
So I cleared the encounter and played as usual until another encounter popped up. This time I was jumping from three star to three star. When I finally found the exact design I was looking for (another 57 warps) it fortunately took a mere four reloads of that particular system for it to load as an S-class. Good luck!
people are lazy.. it's S class..it's supposed to be rare.. even if you can spawn the same instance over and over... It is luck of the draw. you don't sit in a space station or trade station and get S class ships rollin through every 15 minutes
Still works in jan 2021. I just started the game not even a week ago and already im ballin with a S class star-destroyer esq. freighter thanks to this method as well as the chlorine expansion unit making method.
Thanks for the video! I'm on my first play through and I read that the economy system helps? So I found a 3 star system at 1 jump to trigger the event. So far I've got 4 As several Bs and some Cs. I've only done about 12 runs though. However this is in line with the 2% S class spawn rate. So on average a person should get 1 out of 50 runs. Mind you this video did better than the average 1 out of 38 which is closer to 3%.
So I'm trying now this method but with a small twist. Basically I totally forgot about this 5th warp thing and didn't do any saves but I thought to myself I could save on the system's space station. Do you think it will still work from the auto save? I can see changes in the classes but I usually get c's and b's...
Has the freighter rescue started in that system?

@@Boo19951 oh so you warped in the system and had no previous save? Or you have a autosave just before warping into the freighter battle. If you have an autosave before the freighter battle at a space station that should be fine, I recall somebody saying that worked in my other video
@@Nerdpunk I warped into the system without a save and there was this fight going on so I just went straight to the space station and did a save there by getting out of my starship. Then I hopped back in and got an emergency call/signal from the freighter asking for aid. :D since then I've been just loading up the autosave from the space station and seems alright? I just hope I won't waste 5+ hours or my life just so I can get a b class :)))

It took me about 100 attempts. I almost settled for a 33/9 A class. But while watching your video I got the S class. No joke, no meme. In the 5 minutes duration of the video I got an S class. (Also it was my free freighter) I also got Korvax Admiral Ana, the captain I wanted. You clearly are RNJesus Blessed.
So the freighter is going to look the same every time but the class will be different? that is my understanding from this and my own personal experience. am i correct?
Yup so what I did is once the rescue mission was triggered I reloaded previous auto save and did a manual save. Then just go out and find the one you want, color and size. Land on space station and then just reload it until its an S class. Just got mine only took me 10 runs which was great.
Confirmed it still works as of 25/01/21. Took me 5 jumps and got my s class sentinel. Just kept going to the same 3 star economy system. Wanted a korvax crew as well. So bang on!

Quick question, I'm pretty new to the game redownloaded it back after deleting it a little after release. Now my question is how do you get those larger freighters to spawn? When I warp to a wealthy system after warping 5 times it just spawns in the basic looking freighters, am I doing something wrong?
yeah that's the smaller free freighter the game gives new players. The capital (larger freighters) spawn after you accept the free freighter.
@@Nerdpunk So I just keep playing after accepting a regular A class? Will the larger Capital ones be for free as well or do I need to save up my Units? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I love the game now but it's still somewhat confusing even after watching guides ya know.
@@rollingjester4544 all good dude, after accepting the free freighter and after 3 hrs of gameplay and 5 warps a captial freighter will spawn, however you will need to purchase it with units. Hope this helps!

i got a few questions. i cant spawn the rescue mission.
- when you warp 5times ,you need warp to new star system each time or you can warp betwen 2 rich star systems back and foward?
- is a star system race a factor in freighter spawn %? because i want corvax crew
- are freghter type connected to crew race? because i want to get specific freighter type
- is conflct lvl in a star system a factor in freighter spawn %?
Q1: any system will work, just be sure to play for at least an hour
Q2: A corvax system will always spawn a korvax crew
Q3: no, you can get any style with any crew race.
Q4: AFAIK, no, but higher threat spawns more ships. Minimum 4 max 8.

I would say I got lucky on that, simce someone payed me 300.000.000 in starship scrap as a thsnks for gifting her all the mineral units I had for the final hyperdrive engine... But yes, getting creds is a pain.
I don't think they should nerfed to make much harder, it's just make people not enjoy game, since people want best of best, it's better gave them guaranteed S or redesign gameplay, encourage people take c then upgrade all way to S, much stronger than get S right way, I think that's might help more fun for people to enjoy game, if there is no upgrade c to S, no choice, but had to cheat or reload, then gameplay design isn't good, they nerfed that to make worse. Basic core of gameplay need better design and not to gave player frustrated, most people wouldn't pay game to get frustrated, they pay game to enjoy it, not cheat way to because bad design, if good design, then cheat or reload wouldn't needed, if game had to be cheat or reload, then it's vaild questionable of gameplay as it's seem gameplay need to imporved, not worse. Biggest problem is that there 3 type of gameplay that game developer are not aware of, relaxation and challenge, One full relazation like sandbox game, one are very challenge but not always fun for some people, as it' can be tension and anxiety, and balanced of two. Problem game developer affected whole, even on relazation game, no longer relazation game, but still essential if people reload or cheat to get what they want, then gameplay is very questionable whatever game is fun or not, since people who reload or cheat don't seem had fun playing normal game without cheat and reload as it's seem design is not there for them.
My issue is that I can't even find an exotic freighter any class. I've hopped 250+ (not an exaggeration), and I have yet to encounter an exotic freighter model
Nice one buddy good recap on previous video mine took a while cos i was being really specific in what i wanted Orange or Red max slot dreadnaught got the orange in the end though that all a bit irrelevant now with recent update
If you are referring to the new freighter customisation update I hope you don't want to colour your freighter black, looks like a washed out grey...

In the end it worked out, took me a bit over 7h. About a week ago I started a permadeath account, there it took me about 4h to get an S class. I used the oportunity to make my first freighter which you get for free an S class capital freigther. So this worked too.
So I accepted my first freighter already (C class) and was looking for an S class. Ended up watching your video (your original tutorial and this tutorial) and tried this out. First battle I got an A class and went to look if I could get it for free which apparently wasn't the case. So my question is, is it possible to get the S class freighter for free although I already have a freighter?
no, once you have accepted the first free freighter you don't get another free one. Keep in mind the free freighter method didn't spawn capital ships until recently apparently. I haven't tested the free freighter method myself.

Almost 9 hours farming i am getting fucked
Today i got my Resurgent S-class. Took about 60 tries (about 3-4 hours). Got 36% A's and C's, 28% B's and 2%S. Remember to only use 3-star economy system (fly into system, ignore the battle, land on the station, save......). Chances 2 times less in 2 star economy. Impossible in 1 star economy. Btw i used 027E:007B:03C0:0110 system. Finally changed my A-class for a S-class.
You just got lucky I'm on my 3rd day now and nothing, furthermore its not just freighters but exotics seem to less frequent. I spent over 5 hours looking for a single exotic to spawn, with the most likely method, on planet with 5 ship rotation spawn and constant reloading. Maybe the galaxy you're in or system has something to do with spawn frequency, and no I'm not talking about wealthy systems and 2% spawn chance, its less then that! The whole thing about having to waiting 3 hours before you can even attempt this is really annoying as i dont always have that amount of time or patience to even do this after having played for 3 hours.
Hello, does anyone know if there is a character requirement or something in order for an S-Class to spawn? As in, do you need to have come across a certain number of freighters in your game/progression before an S-Class has a possibility of spawning? I ask because I've been at this for something like 5 hours, and I have reloaded the same system(3-star Mathematical economy) with the freighter I like perhaps upwards of 40 times, and I only keep getting C-B-A class freighters. I'm just wondering if maybe this game hates me.
Sigh.. nevermind. 5 reloads later, and I got an S-Class lol. Guess my RNG luck is just shit.

I played 5 hours and warped around over 45 times still couldn't trigger the fight so I spawned the Anomaly did a mission that would take me some place else completed the mission then left the Anomaly so that it would take me back to the system I was just in thats the only way it would trigger for me but I got an A class large capital ship
How can you look for specific models
my question is more like, how do you consistently get the dreadnaught class variant? I keep getting shitty looking freighters even if I pick gek. Is there something specific I should be looking for?
I get the whole 3 hours wait time but what about the 5 warps for instance if i did 4 warps saved and then resumed a day later, do i have to keep warping 5 times again? Or is the prior 4 warps still valid from the previous day, assuming the console was switched off?

Still work July 2021. I admit took it me 2 days! I I use manual save to find a freighter model I like, fly through battles and ignore the fight and dock on station and exit your starship to initiate an auto save. Now just reload the auto save to get the S class of your chosen model.
I did this today, and after I got back into my ship after the auto save the fight just stopped, like completely the pirates disappeared. I went to scan the ship and it was a fucking s class dreadnaught… I got so pissed, it ruined my day completely.
I can confirm it works as of the time I commented this, i got myself an A class medium venator with a decent amount of slots
At my second day doing it on ps4 got 7 modules 😂 one day this game is gonna give up lmao
works as of 12/6/20 took about 1 hour and was able to secure a solid S class

I've gotten them on around my 30th reload and sometimes 50
if I sit afk in my storage container does that count towards game time played for this tactic? I got a bit confused with what you said in your previous video
As long not in your inventory or options, apparently it wont count if you are to be safe
what am i doing wrong ? i am 3h in 5 jumps but i only get the smaller freighters not the large ones as in the vid. can you explain it in depth no one have a clean explanation some say decline the first freighter then after new 3h and 5 to 7 new jumps the dreadnought freighter will spawn ???? am confused i have tried for 2 days to get the large ones on this with 3h play and 5 jumps and no large ones i have gotten 1 normal "small" s freighter. and yes i jump into high prosperity and 3 star cluster.
have u accepted your first free freighter? You need to accept or decline it, apparently the free freighter method works again

It keeps spawning the same freighter for me
I've been trying this method for about 5 hours straight, only basic looking capital freighters spawn and no freighter battles. I only get the occasional ships warping in randomly to attack, but no dialogue with the captain at all after they're all destroyed.
Hey Thick_Juice, that's the free smaller freighter the game gives new players. Once you accept the free freighter the next freighter battle will spawn the capital freighters. Hope this helps!
@@Nerdpunk I got my free freighter, and then bought an upgraded freighter after that. Still no luck spawning a Sentinel or Star Destroyer. Idk if maybe I'm in the wrong system or need to be in a certain race system or something?
Made a new save, got 5 warps, got free freighter, played 3 hours, warped to 3 star system, still no sentinel/star destroyer lol

You need to accept the first free freighter (small freighter). Then when the next freighter battle happens it will spawn capital (bigger) freighters.
J5 yeah my game was glitched i had already accepted the free one but after buying one it started spawning thank you!
