The Devourer of Gods is such an iconic character in the mod, glad you're making a video about him. He has so many good lines like: "You are no god... but I shall feast upon your essence regardless!" "A GOD DOES NOT FEAR DEATH!" "I WILL NOT BE DESTROYED" and best of all: "That's enough! You're DoG food!!!" now some useless fact: devourer of gods was actually going to have a name, but the devs decided that the title "Nameless Serpent" goes kinda hard so they didn't give him one lol
It is entirely possible that the entire plot line could have been engineered by Noxus. First, corrupt, deceive, or otherwise influence a monk to destroy the dragons by starting a “god rush” of divine aspirants seeking to claim their own auric souls. Then, send in a lackey to help mop up the resultant gods when there’s inevitable pushback, so there’s no more of that pesky primordial light left to hold Noxus off.
Then there’s the other side of the theory, where Xeroc could have absorbed the soul to prevent outer beings (like moon lord) from invading, but for now I don’t think we can really know, cool theory though
extra stuff about noxus: even tho they are verrry powerful (most destructive being in the mod, more destructive then xeroc, but not stonger), multiple devs actually have confirmed that noxus isn't a god. the sprite u used in the video is actually an old noxus sprite u can find in the mod files, Wrath of the gods just used it (wrath of the gods is actually reworking noxus to be a completely different character/boss. it has planets being thrown around the fight its sooo COOL)
Before you got to the part with Noxus, I was also thinking that DoG might serve him. I don't actually know if Noxus is god of void or darkness or so, but I suppose that if there're 2 gods (Xeroc and Noxus) and if one represents one, that means Noxus is indeed the god of void/darkness or something like that (these gods like Yin-Yang: light and darkness). Talking about Signus, when I read the texts about him, I came to conclusion that he is probably plotting something, but still waiting till he gathers more power, and if DoG was killed before Signus or DoG somehow weakened a lot, Signus would become a bigger threat than the worm. Also, judging by the new sprite, he's some kind of unique void being, disguising in human-like form wearing a robe to hide his true identity and powers, and maybe to recruit more followers so he can become Noxus's right hand in order to become even stronger than his master. I know this whole thing sounds weird and crammed up, but that's the first thoughts that came to my mind after watching the whole video. And it's just a theory, let's see what the devs will bring us
The first part of signus's story i guess (that you have written) refers to Statis's deal with signus to escape from the distortion"a gateway a promise a betrayal" signus does a deal with statis though i dont know the price, he helps statis get into prusumely a "gateway" and promises statis,therefore betraying both yharim and DoG.The second part implies that Signus was either created after the age of gods(if so then either Noxus or DoG could have created him) or Signus was super hidden until DoG rose up to power(statis whenever he is added will or might reveal more about the lore about signus) good presentation :D

I don't remember where I read this from, but SCAL's Sepulcher spawn was hinted to be the dark future of the Devourer of Gods if they continued on their path to power, so either DoG got corrupted by devourer the powers of the dragon/gods, got cursed by a far greater entity like Xeroc or Noxus, or just mutated into Sepulcher somehow.
fyi, that was meant to be a metaphorical hint that if DoG would keep doing what he was doing, he would be fated to die thanks to his own hubris. Which is exactly what happens when he fights the Terrarian.
I think that’s from the Metastasis (at least that’s what I think it was called) but I remember that it said it was a possible outcome, so not necessarily the only outcome. It’s definitely interesting to think about though
Could Xeroc seek to empower the player with Primordial Light so he has a worthy ally when fighting Noxus? Perhaps fearful of dealing with Noxus on his own? and then after beating Noxus Xeroc doesn't think he needs you, so he takes away the gift of Primordial Light from you and seeks to remove you as a potential rival? But the player uses Noxus loot to combat Xeroc since without that loot it would break the player's powerscaling since the player would not be strong enough to fight Xeroc without the loot b/c of Xeroc's great power? Proving/confirming Xeroc is the Traitor Almighty? I think this would play well into atleast a proto planned out senario for things to happen ingame. But I'm not a dev or the Lore-Wizard of Calamity.

I dont think the player has providence's essence but rather it spreads out to the world (like the evil biomes). Seems he's just hungry and wants to feast a strong being looking at his spawn dialogue
According to the lore, this is essentially what happened to the essence, but the devourer eventually gets around to eating it so it doesn’t actually end up becoming a biome.

Im not sure what it takes to obtain a god's essence but dog so far has been eating their physical forms to obtain them, which is clearly not the case for providence
@@Midnight_Minute Actually, if you look at the beastiary of Bloom slime, which drops uelibloom ore, it says "Imbued with profaned energy, this slime wishes to see the world reduced to ashes to ensure the suffering it brings is no more. However, the simplicity of their form makes it difficult for the slain goddess to fully impose her will onto them." This implies that uelibloom ore was created from the essence of Providence after she died.

The idea of Xeroc recruiting the player to fight Noxus does seem to fit in my eyes with his dialogue at the end of boss rush.

Nameless deity is from a different mod (Wrath of the Gods) but it is inspired by the old lore version of Xeroc
