A short "half-animation" about the Devourer of Gods' Lore.
Note: I didn't write the lore. I just drew over it. Music credits to DM DOKURO (Scourge of the Universe).
"The Devourer of Gods, originally known as a mere myth in Terrarian legends, is a monstrous cybernetic serpent from the depths of an eldritch-conceived pocket dimension. Its home is devoid of all lifeforms, with an endless blanket of hazy purple mist extending as far as the eye can see. This was not always the Devourer's home, as it used to tunnel through the earth in the Terrarian's world, eating and crushing all that dared to stand in its way. However, as the Devourer's food sources became more adept at avoiding its attack patterns, it began to starve, leading it to use the power of those it devoured to tear a hole in the dimensions. This is now where the Devourer hides, awaiting for some foolish challenger, be it god or otherwise, to awaken it from its slumber. The Devourer will occasionally launch 'sneak attacks' by tearing through the dimensions and eviscerating unsuspecting victims to feed its ever-growing segments.
The Devourer came to be after Lord Yharim discovered that a giant sentient vibrant purple worm creature had killed and eaten a platoon of his best soldiers. Yharim originally wanted to kill the creature for revenge, but instead he found a better purpose for the beast. Yharim made a deal with the Devourer, as long as the Devourer would serve him until death he would feed the Devourer the most powerful entities he could capture. The Devourer agreed, and soon after Yharim captured his two most hated traitors, Braelor and Statis. Yharim threw them inside the pocket dimension without any way to defend themselves. Yharim watched and waited until he could hear the screams of the two demi-gods as they were crunched and torn to bloody pieces by his newfound pet. Afterwards Yharim rewarded the Devourer further by armoring him with reinforced spiked steel shells, specifically designed to resist piercing and explosive attacks."

You are right. I named this series in March of last year (2019) and now I can't change it since it's too late.
Now if you want an animation go to someone who makes good videos or go watch my real animations

Photon technically if you did a full animation and set the frame per second and frame skip high enough this would count as an animation

I think it would be really cool if there was a really tiny chance that the devourer will come and take a pre hardmode boss from you. Then you would see your "end" game at the beginning.
Or just as some sort of rare easter egg in the background, like 1.4 Terraria does with Demon Eyes vibing around at midnight, and Moon Lord rarely appearing during thunderstorms.

Yharim had an eldritch worm monster that fed off the essence of living beings cybernetic armor, and yet the plague nanobots were too much for the guy
C'mon Bioweapons are worse.. Dying instantly is better than rotting and being twisted to serve a cause you've been forced into
Yeah bio weapons are a really nasty thing. Unless you're really good with genetic engineering, bio weapons will be indiscriminate.
On top of that, bio weapons like engineered plagues have a chance to mutate and go beyond whatever you engineered them to do, meaning if you blacklist yourself from being infectable, a mutated strain might come along and get you anyways.
Because That could actually infect the jungle ruining his home
no joke, I died to plaguebringer 50+ times and dies to DoG only arround probably 20+ times, I am not surprised he did

Plague bringer: Possibility of accidently wiping out his main citadel, the Jungle
Devourer of Gods: Easy to kill if needed (Since Yharon, Scal, Draedon and Yharim are all [Probably] stronger than him), can't just accidently wipe out the jungle, stronger in combat

the fact that the DoG lives in a magenta, purple, misty void is horrifying. Even more so because you know that somewhere within that mist, something is lurking, and you’re it’s prey.

Ngl small piece of nostalgia for yall. There was this game called “sky serpents” flash game. Great flash game. One you could only find in the golden ages of the internet. A lot of the worm boss/mini bosses in Calamity reminds me of that game. I miss that game

Gods, Demi-gods, myths. Whoever was powerful was food for the reality warping worm. A simple being of Terraria once called upon him, wishing for a fight. The devourer scoffed at the mortal’s offer. He’s consumed gods, what could a mere terrarian do? He Dove towards his prey, certain he could end the fight right there and then. Without warning, the mortal cast a flurry of brimstone, evading all the futile attempts for an Attack from the worm. The terrarian triumphed over the Devourer. David versus Goliath. The god-eater, before death, surprised at what he could do. He wasn’t a god. Yet, he failed.
