I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 187,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.
I changed the fluid at 60k on my 2010 Nissan Sentra SR. Still going strong. I don't have but a little under 70k on it though, but it is 10 years old. So I am going to have it for a very long time!
I love people commenting that they'll consider buying one if Nissan drops the CVT knowing first and foremost they're not even in the market for a compact car. Secondly, it's the class standard and Nissan knows the standard buyer will not care what transmission it has. Third, half of the people complaining of the transmission are just clones from the internet echoing words that they never said themselves
Seems like a great car. Improvement in everything over previous. CVT behaves well. Maybe a touch slow off the line, but at this price point it’s great. Everyone thinks if car can’t do 0-60 in under 6 seconds it’s “slow”.
If Nissan would get rid of the CVT the car would be good Nissan 4 bangers have had a decent reliability rating besides the older QR25DE now that was updated there all pretty decent.
LOL. I drive a Nissan 350z and have no problem admitting that their CVTs like to break at around 80k miles. Its not a good look for Nissan. I hear that their newer ones should last longer, but only time will tell. The damage to their reputation is going to take a long time to fix either way.
I don’t understand people in these comments complaining about the CVT so much. It’s an economy car it’s only purpose is to get you from point A to B with good fuel mileage lol. I just bought a 2021 Sentra SV and it’s a great car. If you don’t like the CVT then buy a premium car that uses a traditional automatic transmission. This is a car you can get into for dirt cheap, and guess what it’s all under warranty so relax. Everyone is an auto mechanic because nissan had transmission issues 10 years ago, and if they are so shitty why do I still see hundreds in the road?
True I have a 2012 Altima with 237,000 miles and have never changed the cvt fluid and she still running strong til today..so maybe all about how you drive it🤷♂️
It seems like premium compact cars are getting far and few between. Buick discontinued their Verano and Nissan it seems doesn't offer the SL trim in this car. Ford or Chrysler don't offer any compact sedans. Your choices are Mazda, Toyota, or Honda. Hyundai's Elantra was a higher class vehicle that's been taken down a notch.
Nissan has always made great engines. They’re only problem is the cvt and Renault alliance. In 2021 they’re making a new frontier. But for 2020, the frontier will get a 9 speed automatic still with manual option, Nd a new 3.8 v6 with 310 hp.
If Nissan wants to move on from Carlos Ghosn, it must also move on from CVTs. It was on his watch that Nissan dove head-first into CVT “technology” and their “benefits”. I think it’s safe to say that they’ve more than worn out their welcome and have largely contributed to Nissan’s downward spiral.
Superbe véhicule mais en France, ce type de carrosserie ne se vendent pas bien. Je regarde souvent vos vidéos car nous journalistes ne le font jamais sous ce format !!
The acceleration run from 0-60 is screwed up because after the panic stop Nissan cvt takes a moment 2 get moving again as you can see in the video. Acceleration test wouldve been a bit better.
occckid123 very true I forgot about that...That’s only happened to me once. Slammed on them to stop at a light, even after sitting through the light it still was in that mode. Ever since then 30k miles ago lol I don’t do it anymore I just floor it instead.
Yeah because they trying to fool people into thinking the cvt doesn't rev high when you get up to speed. The 1k marker is that mark between the 0 and the 2.They missed the 500, 1k and 1.5k markings. Nissan trying to be slick on this one and the Altima too smh
ForevaLaTrelle A CVT stands for Continuously Variable Transmission and no one likes it in Nissan because they’ve had a lot of reliability issues with it breaking down.

Elantra with the limited trim is very nice for what you pay. Mazda 3 Grand touring or Civic touring are probably the best premium compacts.
