Imagine if this C-5 had TF39s
I hope someone restores one with TF39s (to flying condition)
The C-5 doing a hostile departure. It's the opposite of the Khe-Sanh or Baghdad arrival/landing. The idea is to stay within the security perimeter of the airfield until they're out of shoulder mounted AA/Stinger weapons and small arms fire.
We just call it a tactical takeoff using "Tactical Rated Thrust" or more commonly known as a standing takeoff and it has nothing to do with airfield security perimeters. Surface to Air missiles don't magically stop working over airfields (no we don't have systems to shoot them down either) and they can easily reach us from a nearby location pretty easily during takeoff. This C5 is giving a good show of climb capabilities for the audience but that's about all. We would fly straight out at the maximum safe angle as quickly as possible. That will get us out of harm's way a lot faster than staying in the area and remaining a target. Our approaches in a tactical environment are deliberately corkscrewed so as to make the landing as quick as possible from higher altitude and try and avoid any incoming fire. Every time I took off from Shank or Bagram I wondered if that was going to be it.

If only my father could see this. passed 2006. I've posted here before, sorry if it gets old, but, I'm Cuban and that C-5 Galaxy . . . . OMG . . . it's EVERYTHING he promised about this country 40 years ago. Getting goosebumps. I close my eyes and remember dozens of library books on aircraft, this aircraft in black and white pics, color cutaway drawings, stats, competition with Boeing, bios on Kelly Johnson, Skunk Works, and etc. Thank you for the memories, AirShowStuffVideos!!
The C-5 and 747 are my personal favorites out of the bunch.
The Avro for me
Same
If the C-5 had the loud TF39s...
It never fails to amaze me how those big things get off the ground.
both behemoths in their class...i can't even imagine landing a C5...
That C-5 take off is just amazing. For such a large aircraft it did a 360 nearly over the airfield. Just amazing.
747. You're still gorgeous, baby.
Amen to that, a guy at my local air museum flew ‘em for 20 some years
Wow. That C5. Incredible. But I do miss the sound of those old engines.
Yes! I second and third these comments! Lol
Me too
Makes you really appreciate the awesomeness of the 747 seeing it somewhere like that. I like the little yellow plane powered by strimmer gatecrashing at 3:00 🤗
Steve Henry in "YeeHaw", Yamaha-power!
I'm blessed, I'm starting flight school soon and it's AT the oshkosh airport... to think I'll be learning at the same airport as where AirVenture takes place... amazing.
I love the way I live close to Oshkosh Wi. love going there for the EAA every year. I hope Airbus brings the A380 back to the airshow
Nice living in the same state.
4:36 Blue plane with star. Will forever miss you dad.
2:50
Notice me...
NOTICE ME......
NOTICE ME DANG NAB IT....
That's one of those situations where you think someone is waving at you then you realize, no, its someone behind you instead.
lol right... he's like "o...k i'll make someone notice me... heads up camera crew!" (3:07)
These jets are not only beautiful, but they are also plane awesome!
747.....still my favorite.....beautiful airplane!!!!
I love the flex on the wings of that dream liner !
I was watching the C5 take off in awe of the climb rate and I thought to myself I hope you zoom out for a perspective view and you did absolutely awesome
Fantastic!, I loved the C-5 footage.
Nice to see the C-5! I'd still love to see one of those in person someday. Thanks for the video!
that galaxy was beautiful!
Looking forward to this year's show.
Woooo, Viking representing at 2:15! Greetings from Sidney BC!
The C-5M Super Galaxy is mind boggling ! Good stuff
Good video...we saw the landings, we saw the takeoffs - with no added BS. The 747 commands your attention...she really is the Queen of the skies.
Awesome heavy/large aircraft shots also congratulations on 100K Subscribers!
Thank you!
AirshowStuffVideos You’re welcome!
Loved that ARJ batplane
Awesome video! Congrats on 100k!
Thank you!
Sadly, the C-5s, just don't have the same awesome impression, as they did with the TF39s.
Those are some aggressive landings by those Heavy Jets!
Look at this buttering 2:50, so beautiful!
Amazing!
Lord knows i love nimble fighters and small craft...but there is something that makes everybody stop and stare as the heavies lumber in....great video..
I was there last year and seen that 787 take off
It doesn't surprise me at all that it was UPS to bring a 747. UPS is awesome.
Everything you do is top-shelf keep it up
1:00 butter!
Awesome!!!
The climb-out of that C-5 at the 10:00 mark and then specifically around the 11:00 mark at the zoom-out is fucking incredible. What a beast. Great video.
Damn right.. I have seen C-5 few times but this is the first that I ever seen making so aggressive climbing.
congrats for 100k bro
Thank you!
Fantastic!!!!
I see those UPS 748s all the time
Dd anyone else catch that very brief vapor shot as the C-5M was climbing?
3:10 idk why but i was more interested in that piper cub then the other plane
747-8 my favorite aircraft
C-5 always sounds the coolest.
I miss seeing c5s at dover airforce base. Especially the older engines that shook the house
What's with the cub almost doing a K.O. on the camera crew? Does he not see them?
🤣🤣🤣🤣
...and ruined shot of 787 landing.
Idiot.
It be a Kitfox from one of the Flying Cowboys that put on the STOL competition this year. Didn't see them!
He was being a real shit to me!!!
That 47 stopped on a dime!!!!!
2:50 get me the guy in that yellow turboprop, he needs a stern talking to
747 Beautiful Super
The C-5, at the end of the video almost looks like it’s going vertical, lol
You didnt get any footage of the C5 brake fire after he taxied into boeing plaza???
Ha, no. We were at the far south end waiting to see the STOL competition. He landed just before it started. They got the planes taxied out and then had to shut everything down so the fire crews could race to the plaza to help with the fire. But we were out of speaker range so we had no idea what was going on until some friends messaged us from the plaza. Would have been interesting to see!
Lol hilarious
ever watch airforce one land its incredible there is very little smoke from the tires
That Bae-146 is with Neptune Aviation out of Missoula, Montana. Not Calfire
_747 makes me feel relax
Now, tell THESE guys to land on the Orange spot halfway down!
The Neptune #12 is not out of Cal Fire its out of Neptune Aviation in Montana
The 748-800 is the best looking aircraft in the sky. Even the freighter version.
The Intercontinental is superb.
Like the lawnmower plane at 3:00
No, film me! 3:25
The second guy greased the landing.
7:42 my brother flies one of those!
That's awesome
Thats a big jet, impressive, what airline does your brother fly for?
@@LB-pg3no Republic Airways, a regional carrier for United, Delta, and American.
That C-5 landed a little long and smoked those breaks, imagine them puppies were glowing.
Pretty sure that's the one that ended up catching fire on the ramp!
I wish I been on 787 747 kc-46 c-5
Okay, I love the RJ100/BAe146 and I was super excited to see that because I live in San Bernardino California where 10 tanker and that Avro are based out of but sorry......🥺😢😭 the C5M upstaged EVERYONE. I wish they had the c5a of b show up but I’ll take the M!
This airfield is enduring tremendous EROSION!
New jets dont sound as good as the old ones...
I miss the old C5A's thrust reversers.
@@dtennow Oh those make a wonderful sound!
Which dot did the first one land on 🙂
Vapes on a C-5? Well done sir
Fun fact: the first two birds don't have thrust reverses
I wish I been on a ups 747-800f or 747-400f
lol steve henry stole the shot at 3:11
First landing tho was so hard
Imagine if this C-5 had TF39s
I hope someone restores one with TF39s (to flying condition)
💚
Looks like the UPS 747 is wearing lipstick 😀
747 stopping on a dime.
and gave you 9 cents change....
WTH! Why the yellow plane is taxing right in the middle of where people are? Almost hit the camera crew at 3:15. This pilot needs to lose his license.
Normal for AirVenture!
It would've been cool to display the C-5 and Avro 146 together.
The big boys crashed the party, then left.
It's absolutely massive compared to the vast majority of other planes there. All relative.
That’s not cal fire
There’s something I don’t get...
Why there’s a UPS 747 in a military airport?
1) It's not a military airport
2) It's during the world's larget airshow!
AirshowStuffVideos Ohhhhhhh. I think that’s more logic. Sorry 😐.... *The 747 Is not Dead left the server*. :v.
Wasn't airbus invited
I live 80 miles NW of Louisville which is a huge UPS hub....the 747's coming out of Anchorage into Louisville are dropping altitude and airspeed right over my house....Noisy bastards
Can’t stand the C-5’s new engines.
7:42 Airbus A320???
Embraer ok
PLEASE CHANGE THE DAMN JET SOUND AT THE START. LOUD NOISE NOT APPRECIATED
@Gregory Thompson...Why are you watching a video featuring loud jets?
@@hankscally9658 I would note that the newer videos lack that very loud starting noise
United should be using their aircraft and pilots to run and staff their garbage organization not wasting time at Oshkosh. What a joke of a company.
Everything you do is top-shelf keep it up
