The scene with Bobbie and Felicia is one of the most emotional moments I’ve seen on GH ! I cried with them! They played their part so well. My heart was breaking!
I started watching in 1963,@ the age of 8. It was on from 3:30 to 4. Mom had it on when I got home from school and I’ve watched it on and off for 60 years
Stuart and Leslie were so incredible in the cancer story. So many great actors and stories back then - Kimberly/Michael/Maurice (etc) in the AIDS/HIV story, Brad/Jackie/Kristina in BJs gift, Genie/Tony/Jonathan/Rebecca in the rape and rape revisited stories... absolutely incredible
You should look up and see how often rape is used in soaps as plot device, right along with births and weddings. It is not "incredible," it is obscene.
Wonderful memories. Without a doubt GH in the late 70s through the 80s will always be the most magical time on this show. The only thing this special missed was Robert Scorpio. He basically led the show after Luke and Laura's exit in 1983 outside of a few clips during Finola's interview not much Scorpio at all. The show kind of went down hill in the mid 90s and never has recovered to the magic that the 80s and early 90s brought.
I remember this watch that night when it came on ABC in 1998 I was in high school at the time. The next day some of those fans were talking GH was good back then.
Not sure I've ever seen someone describe anything in the 2000s as the best years of GH. To me the show started going downhill in the 2000s when JFP and Frons started ridding the show of the veterans. That plus the dark writing of Guza pretty much made the show unrecognizable from the previous decades.
In my opinion I consider 1979, the 80s, the 90s, 2000, and early 2001 (specifically January & February) to be the peak of General Hospital. The show to me started losing its charm and magic like after Sonny and Carly's wedding in Martinique which I consider to be the last great memorable moment of General Hospital.
That might be because of Jill Farren Phelps replacing Wendy Riche as executive producer. I think that the show went downhill from 1998-2002, with mid-2001 - spring 2002 (the Megan McTavish period) being the last halfway decent period of the old GH. The show got great again in 2012 under Ron and Frank; slipped from 2013-2015, but did still entertain despite being a mess, and has been OK since 2016 (though I am enjoying 2022, contrary to popular belief).
@@isaiahhill2104 Yeah Jill almost ruined the show. She pretty much jettisoned all the veterans and highlighted her favorites/pets. When Frank took over, he was able to bring a lot of the veterans back and helped reestablish the show it wasn't only the Sonny/Jason/Carly hour it had been for a decade
@@radrobd123 It did kind of depend on the writers though. JFP did put her friends front and center and sadly did make Sonny into the show’s leading man; however, the vets didn’t start getting axed off until Guza, Pratt, and Frons came in during summer 2002. The show prior to that point did indeed use the vets very often, even if their prominence in early 02’ wasn’t as strong as their prominence in 01’. Just look at the 10,000th episode and how you saw characters like Bobbie as well as the other Spencers and Cassadines quite a lot. Guza and Pratt also made the mob into the center focus of the show, with every main storyline centering around it. To be fair, I don’t think that 2000s GH wouldn’t have exactly been good if Guza, Pratt, and Frons had not come along, but it certainly would’ve been seen in a better light without them.
@@isaiahhill2104 JFP had a big part in getting rid of vets. She did it before at other shows she was in charge of in the past - Guiding Light, Another World, OLTL
I don't recall anything for 40 yrs. The 60th was a week long nurse's ball with no flashbacks at all. No mention of Luke and Laura at all. There was an hour long 60th anniversary special that was pretty good.
I remeber watching this in 1998 thinking at the time 1963, 35 years seemed so far away. Now its the 60th anniversary, 25 years from this special.
The scene with Bobbie and Felicia is one of the most emotional moments I’ve seen on GH ! I cried with them! They played their part so well. My heart was breaking!
u Hatredfully Hate Being Alive, dont you?
Tony was such a great dancer. And he was amazing right along with Genie.
Team Luke and Laura always. Too many memories to list 😪 like stars 🌟 in the sky.
Now this is a real Anniversary show!
So true. The current show missed the mark this is great.

Although the Maxie heart transplant story was wonderful.

Yes Robert [ Tristen ] a great character !👌

I can't believe how old this is and here we are watching !
Because we miss Tony and all the rest. Glad Kin Shriner is still there.
1998 was the cool crowd…
Now everyone is old, gone, or dead.
Booo hoooo
I miss Brenda!!
The 90s were the best of GH 💋
The 80s
1985-1990
and 1995-2000
You both were right!
Ooops
1994 was good also….
Lukes eyes. His smile... swoon worthy😊

I've been watching since I was about 16, in 1976.
Way cool Tony was the host. And Luke and Laura had a segment and we are watching here because it was better than the 60th. Hey fans. .❤
Luke and Lara and Scottie and Robert and Anna and Holly was the best days of GH
I liked Brad's song at rhe end would have loved to hear the entire song.
I wish someone had a better quality upload of this special.
There was a Better quality upload but ofc it got deleted
Thank you
Kin Shriner is adorable!
I love his sense of humor and he loves his fans and is loyal to the show I and its history.
Luke was the best he had the best storyline ❤
Best years of GH 1978-2014. After that it was downhill slowly. It’s now spring 2023.
Cap.. 1967-1975 were strong too

The 80s was the best.
I always wanted Brenda and Sonny to be together, so sad they didn't end up togerher.

If only mikkos had a password randomizer lol
LOL.
Love it. Starstruck. Angel and hero. Loyal fans. M
I don't see this when it originally aired .
Ya know I don't care what decade it is I get my daily drama fix from soaps though I'm partial to ABC soaps!
Did they do anything like this for the fortieth fiftieth or sixtieth anniversary shows??
The 50th anniversary was great soap net had some great specials then.

Where's Noah Drake?
I am sobbing
NOT BARBARA JEAN'S HEART
Seems like it’s out of sync and freezes
Right over the late 60s- early 70s so many good actors & plot s. Totally skipped
The Cassadine weather machine story was utter garbage.
Yet we loved it LOL
Thank you, that's when I bowed out. That and I became a nurse. I had to laugh every time the staff left the building for The Floating Rib.
@@terr777 The Floating Rib rocked!👍😂
They are using a lot of Madonna music
This is why this fantastic show endures it is test of time. The people who bring the MAGIC to my life I will miss you. YOU don't know how much.
